Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 362 Ice Cream Freedom

On the second morning, Kane and his group dismantled their small cabin and continued towards their predetermined destination.

Kreya walked along with the team, occasionally yawning, looking as if she hadn't slept well the night before.

And on her horse's back, Lilulu was sleeping soundly.

The World Restaurant was the widest dungeon Kane and his group had ever encountered.

Their destination didn't seem very far, but actually getting there took quite some time.

However, since Kane and his group were all silver-level Explorers, they were always moving quickly on their journey.

By midday, they finally left the plains and entered the wooded jungle.

On the previous plain, there was very little vegetation on the ground; it was mostly grass, and various animals could see Kane and his group from afar. Except for animals like the bread antelope, most animals turned and ran as soon as they spotted Kane and his group, not giving them any chance to capture them.

These animals emitted an enticing aroma and quickly fled without hesitation.

This forest seemed to serve as a protective barrier, and the deeper they went, the colder the air became.

At the edge of the forest, they could already see faint snow accumulating on the trees.

Lilulu fluttered her wings, tilted her head at the snowy leaves, and then dipped a thumb into the snow, bringing it to her mouth.

"This snow tastes like yogurt-flavored ice cream."

"Really? Let me try." Longbei quickly ran to a nearby tree, where a thin layer of snow had also accumulated on the bark.

Longbei scraped a layer off with his finger and tasted it.

"This seems to be milk-flavored," Longbei smacked his lips and said.

However, there wasn't much snow on these trees, and it didn't look very clean, so Kreya and her group didn't try it and continued onward.

Before long, Kane and his group emerged from the forest, and the moment they stepped out, a cold wind howled, making it feel like they had entered a frozen environment in an instant.

Although their constitution allowed them to move freely in such conditions even in short sleeves, there was no reason to suffer unnecessarily.

The group rummaged through their Space Equipment and pulled out clothes from later eras to wear.

However, there were still plenty of plants ahead, and in the distance, they could see layers upon layers of mountains.

The ground and surrounding vegetation were covered with a thick layer of snow, emitting a strong scent, as if the entire landscape was draped in a white satin cloth.

The snow here appeared very clean and thick, offering numerous spots to choose from, much more than in the previous forest.

Kane took a few steps forward to a large stone, using his Origin Skills to form a spoon in his hand, scooped away the snow on top, and took a portion from the middle.

He put a spoonful of snow into his mouth.

What snow? This was basically ice cream, with a deceptive snowy appearance.

Kane savored it carefully, finding it to be almond milk-flavored, quite nice indeed.

Then Kane moved to another stone nearby, performed the same action, and tasted a spoonful.

Banana milk flavor, not very satisfactory.

Seeing Kane's actions, Kreya and the rest also wasted no time, pulling out tableware from their Space Equipment, and started tasting snow from places they found appealing.

"Kreya, come quickly to Lilulu's spot, this snow tastes like white honey fruit."

Hearing Lilulu's call, Kreya rushed over, and the two of them dug into the snow in that area, trying it out.

The taste of snow varied from place to place, even though they all looked identical from the outside.

At this moment, Kane crouched beside a huge stone, frowning at the black specks on the snow.

Nearby, Yoyo was projecting a beam to scan those black specks, which turned out to be small stones.

These stones had very peculiar colors.

"How's it going, Yoyo? Did you find out what kind of stone these are?"

"It's candy stone."

"It really is," Kane couldn't help but murmur.

Most of the external encyclopedia entries describe various flora and fauna, but Kane bought every available encyclopedia he could find and gave them to Yoyo for recording.

Besides various plants and animals, there are actually many entries about inorganic matter as well.

Kane had initially suspected these stones were strange when he noticed a chocolate scent, so he had Yoyo scan them.

It turned out they really were chocolate.

He picked one up and popped it in his mouth, letting it melt smoothly down his throat.

The quality of this chocolate was exceptionally high.

Kane looked around and finally saw a tree with peculiar bark. He walked over, conjured a sharp little knife, and after cutting a circle on it, peeled off a layer of bark.

He shaped the bark into a cone, returned to the previous spot, and scooped up some snow, mixing it with chunks of chocolate, and placed it into the cone.

Alright, the chocolate cone was complete.

Though it seemed quite absurd, that was indeed the case. The bark was an edible ingredient, very suitable for making crispy cones to hold ice cream.

However, since it was quite cold here, Kane and the others didn't eat much. They just tasted it to satisfy their curiosity before stopping.

Only Kreya, who had a large refrigeration space equipment, scooped up a large amount of snow and stored it in her freezer.

They were so dazzled by these strange and wonderful natural delicacies that they almost forgot their purpose for coming here.

As they walked further, it wasn't long before the vegetation began to thin out, leaving only vast expanses of snow and sloping hills.

This kind of place was roughly the habitat of the peculiar red snakes.

Although the red snakes were not rare and were quite numerous, they were very good at hiding. Unless there was bait or their nests were found, they were extremely difficult to capture.

Kane took out a book with illustrations of red snakes and began studying it.

Red snakes, despite being reptiles, lived in cold areas. To maintain body heat, they needed to consume high-energy foods regularly to ensure their survival.

And this food was peppers.

A kind of pepper that only grew and thrived in snowy mountain regions.

White chili peppers.

The clever Yoyo projected the information about white chili peppers into the air, allowing Kane and the others to understand.

These spherical peppers had stems buried in the snow or soil with only the chili-like fruit protruding out. The protective white coating on their surface made them blend perfectly into the snow, making them extremely difficult to spot in snow-covered areas.

"Alright, friends, this is what we're looking for according to the illustration. Let's spread out and search. Remember to use the ruby lapel pin to stay in touch and be mindful of your safety."

Although the danger level of these snowy mountains did not exceed level 4 and were completely safe for Kane and the team, Kane still reminded them to stay cautious.

The group carefully examined the illustration projected in the sky by Yoyo before each choosing a direction to start searching.

Kane, taking Yoyo along, headed up a high point.

Kane kept his Eagle Eye wide open, carefully searching through the snow.

Before long, Kane started feeling eye strain from meticulously seeking out targets amid patches of white, causing eye fatigue.

Is that patch of snow moving? Kane thought, puzzled, suspecting that his prolonged focus on white was causing hallucinations.

Still, on guard, Kane closed his eyes to rest them momentarily before reopening his Eagle Eye for a closer look at the area.

He hadn't been mistaken; that patch of snow indeed was slowly moving.

"Yoyo, is there anything resembling snow that moves in your illustration database?"

Upon hearing Kane's inquiry, Yoyo's green indicator light turned red, signifying he had entered a search mode.

"Yes, master." Yoyo replied, projecting two illustrations into the air based on his findings.

Both depictions were at the two-star level.

One was a flat-form creature with a massive body spread across the ground. The snow only comprised part of its body, while its true form was a creature with numerous long tentacles.

It merely cloaked its tentacles in snow, moving in a way that appeared as though the snow itself was moving. Once prey approached, its tentacles would swiftly extend and bind the prey tightly until it froze to death.

The other illustration depicted animated snow.

It described snow blocks capable of motion — snow creatures.

These peculiar snow creatures only appeared around this creamy snow mountain, mysteriously gaining the ability to move as snow accumulated.

The area they covered was not vast but incredibly solid; they were more aptly described as ice blocks than snow.

Though classified as two-star, the snow creatures had virtually no offensive means, as their nourishment came from the surrounding snow, eliminating the need to hunt.

Their two-star rating stemmed from their exceptionally sturdy build, capable of reassembling themselves from snow even if broken.

The core was a small sphere secured within their robust icy body, but nobody would bother destroying them.

Prized for a world-class tier of ice cream such as can be scooped from connecting these creatures — as long as they remained unharmed.

Understanding explorers would not harm them, only chisel away some snow from their bodies as compensation for sparing them.

Kane rubbed his hands together and approached the moving snow patch.

Come on, let me see which one you are.
