Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 359: Eating Leaves and Gnawing Flowers

At this moment, Kane and his team were outside the Maple Forest, curious about the information projected by Yoyo, gathering around the tree.

Kane touched the maple leaves, which were no different from those of ordinary trees, feeling like regular leaves, but when he lowered his head to smell them, he sensed a subtle sweet fragrance.

Longbei, not tall enough, jumped up and snapped off a leaf to hold in his hand.

The leaf, once snapped off, instantly went from soft to stiff, then became a thin and crisp maple leaf, even turning somewhat transparent.

It no longer resembled a leaf but more like a sugar-shaped leaf.

The slight fragrance suddenly erupted.

Longbei looked at the leaf in his hand, couldn't resist licking it.

"Delicious!" Longbei's tone was a bit surprised, never expecting to say such a thing about a leaf.

He then tossed the entire leaf into his mouth, chewing it with a crisp sound.

Like eating a candy made of solidified syrup.

Seeing Longbei's action, Lirulu eagerly snapped off a leaf. Since this maple leaf was pretty large, bigger than Lirulu's face, she had to hold it with both hands.

Lirulu bit into her leaf that had turned into a candy shape, a crisp sound was heard, biting off a chunk as if she was the leaf-eating pest.

"This is so tasty, Kreya."

Lirulu shared her experience and reminded Kreya, as they were the only two in the team who loved sweets.

Upon hearing Lirulu, Kreya couldn't resist either, snapping off a leaf to eat. Seeing her smiling expression, it was clear the leaf's flavor very much suited her. Kane and Meizike watched everyone and decided to snap off a leaf to eat as well, not disappointed by the flavor.

The thin candy melted in their mouths instantly, the sweet taste filling their mouth. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet but pleasantly refreshing, with a heartwarming sweetness.

"Seems I'm not that averse to sweets," Kane couldn't help but think.

Such deliciousness made Kane and his crew unreserved, collecting many leaves and placing them in their space equipment for storing food.

Kreya and Lirulu were even more ruthless, stripping a few trees bare.

Kreya even collected some tree sap in a barrel.

Looking at the pipes inserted into the tree, watching the sap gush out like water from a faucet, Kane couldn't help but be curious about how this tree had so much sap.

Oh well, seeking reason in such a world is a self-imposed punishment.

Before leaving the safe zone, Kane and his team made their finds.

But scarcely had they reached the safe zone's edge when Yoyo spotted another plant, also noted in the illustration book.

During the previous night, Kane recorded all the plant illustrations they could buy into Yoyo's information database.

Kane recognized the food without Yoyo's explanation, having casually flipped through the illustrated book yesterday and found this particular plant very impressive due to its outrageous description.

Yoyo scanned the small bright red flower in front of Kane, failing to recognize it immediately because this flower came in various colors, not just red.

This flower was named Spicy Fried Flower.

Remembering the illustration's description, Kane gingerly plucked the whole flower from its stem.

He only took the flower, leaving the leaves and root behind.

According to the introduction, only the flowers were edible; when collecting, one should pluck only the flowers, leaving the leaves and roots. Soon enough, the plant would grow new flowers.

Looking at the red flower in his hand, Kane tossed it straight into his mouth.

Chewing the flower in his mouth.

Not a soft plant texture but a very crispy one, akin to fried puffs, similar to the shrimp chips Kane once ate.

The crisp texture was followed by a spicy taste, not nostril-stinging nor mouth-irritating, but a flavor that stimulated the appetite, making one crave more.

Right next to him, Kreya and the others were watching Kane anxiously.

After swallowing the flower, Kane gave Kreya a thumbs-up, saying, "Delicious."

But the flowers weren't growing in patches, with only a yellow flower and a white flower next to the red one.

Longbei plucked the yellow flower, split it in half, and shared it with Meizike, while Kreya split the white flower in half and shared it with Lirulu.

"Delicious!" ×4

Watching them, Kane couldn't help but ask, "What does it taste like?"

The flavors of the flower varied based on its color, called Spicy Mixed Flowers because the red ones appeared most frequently, not every color being spicy.

Longbei first shared his experience: "The yellow flower has a garlic taste."

"The white flower is yogurt-flavored," Kreya answered from beside him.

"The red one I had was spicy."

Realizing that the three flowers represented different tastes, Lirulu said expectantly.

"Ah, I really want to try flowers of other colors!"

Everyone nodded at Lilulu's words.

However, the flowers actually having a spicy flavor, and a crispy fried texture, was really outrageous.

But outrageousness did not stop Kane from falling in love with this dungeon.

Right now, Kane and the group were at the very edge of the safety zone and began comparing their map.

The location of the strange red snakes was on the middle-lower right-hand side of the map, not too far from where Kane and the others were.

This meant Kane and his companions were quite lucky, as the record book indicated there were many red snakes; they weren't rare creatures, just situated in a specific location.

The area where the red snakes resided was called Creamy Snow Mountain.

Just hearing the name of this region, the theme was already apparent, and when seeing the introduction of the area where the red snakes were, Kreya and Lilulu's eyes began to sparkle.

But as for guiding the way, let's leave it to Yoyo for now, that's its role within the team, and if someone else took it, Yoyo would be heartbroken.

"It's not as safe around here as it was before, stay alert and watch your surroundings, Meizike, keep an eye on distant developments."

After Kane finished speaking to his teammates, he began to follow Yoyo's guidance and move forward.

And behind them, the safety zone encircling the building cluster was a grove.

The path they had to take now led them across a broad plain.

When Kane and the others arrived at the plain, they encountered hardly any strange monsters, only small animals that would flee at the sight of humans.

Moreover, each of these small animals smelled so enticing, it made one want to take a bite just from the scent alone.

If an ordinary person came to this dungeon, they would be facing the risk of obesity almost constantly.

However, Kane and the others did not have to worry about these, trying whatever delicious food they could find.

There was absolutely no risk of gaining weight.

"Does it taste good, Kane?" Lilulu asked, nibbling on a long piece of grass as she looked at Kane.

Kane took half a bite of the grassy stalk in his hand, chewed it a couple of times, then said, "It's not bad, but I'm not sure how to describe this texture, perhaps this is just what grass tastes like."

This kind of grass was not the root-level grass common on the plains but was a length longer than ordinary grass.

It stood out among all the grasslands.

As for the taste, it was like eating grass but tasted like a subtly sweet fruit, mildly sweet but very refreshing, with a hint of mint.

Upon hearing Kane's words, Lilulu couldn't resist trying it too.

"What's that?" A small black dot suddenly rushed toward Kane from the ground, and Kane, reacting quickly, caught it in his hand.

Hearing Kane's words, everyone glanced over and became cautious.

Kane opened his hand to reveal a big-headed, emerald green ant clamped between his fingers.

The ant's color was very close to the grass underfoot, allowing it to blend in perfectly.

However, Kane did not know what type of ant he was holding.

Yoyo instinctively slid over and began scanning the ant in Kane's hand.

"Scallion Ant"

It also projected the encyclopedia information of this ant in front of Kane and his companions.

This ant was not meant to be eaten directly but was used as a condiment, able to emit a strong onion fragrance when mixed with other foods.

A seasoning insect?

Outrageous.

But knowing this ant's information was enough, even though it sounded outrageous, this ant was no push-over, rated one star, and very difficult to deal with when in groups, with excellent jumping ability.

Kane pinched the ant to death between his fingers, and as the ant died, a strong onion aroma immediately filled the air.

It truly was a scallion scent, and just by smelling it, one could tell it would be excellent for stir-frying or barbequing.

"A couple of antelope-like animals are coming towards us," Meizike suddenly said, using the Eye of Magic Power carried by Yoyo in the sky to detect movement in the distance.

"Can you describe their shape to Yoyo?"

Upon hearing Yoyo, Meizike responded immediately, "Short fur, white with a hint of light green, horns like... like croissants?"

Meizike was a bit unsure himself when he offered his last analogy.

"Bread Antelope - Matcha Flavor"

He then projected the encyclopedia information of these antelopes in front of Kane.

These antelopes were particularly fond of insects with strong spice fragrances like the scallion ants, possibly drawn in by the scent Kane had released when he crushed one previously.
