As the cultist leaders who rushed out transformed into various bizarre demons.
The wavering in the hearts of the civilians behind them grew even more intense.
Though they lived in the war zone, for decades, no demons had broken through the second defensive line, leading many of them to have never even seen a demon.
Their worship of demons was largely due to cultists' relentless brainwashing, and those who dared to speak up or resist had already been buried in the ground.
But when they saw the demons' true forms, these terrifying and nauseating creatures, their faith couldn't overshadow their fear.
Seeing the expressions of those civilians, Saintess Finaris felt the time was about right.
"Soldiers, go! All civilians, put down your weapons and crouch on the ground, and we won't harm you. Think of your families, think of your children, surrender; demons are not worth following."
Watching the armored soldiers with sharp weapons rushing towards them, the civilians were terrified and tossed their weapons on the ground, crouching with their heads down.
Yet, there were still some stubborn individuals, holding their weapons, wanting to fight the soldiers.
Many members of the elite squad had already taken down the incoming cultist leaders and immediately rushed into the warring village.
The Saintess stood still, raising the giant golden-green scepter in her hand, singing a song of holiness.
A gentle golden rain dripped from above the village, healing allies' wounds and weakening enemy demons.
As the light rain descended, more civilians chose to lay down their arms and surrender.
And Kane and his team, under Meizike's scouting, had already marked their respective targets.
These targets were all silver-level; they were the tough ones Kane had Meizike meticulously select.
Of course, this would also prove they would receive abundant spoils.
The village chief, impatient, had transformed into his Thorn Demon form.
With a fierce push against the ground, he charged swiftly towards the Saintess.
The Holy Knights guarding around the Saintess raised a shielding phantasm of white light behind her. Another lifted a longsword radiating a white aura, slashing towards the demon.
Yet, the sword strike on the thorny exterior had no effect, and instead, the knight was struck by the demon's tail, sending both him and his shield flying.
Deep cracks had already formed on the thick shield.
Kreya and Longbei were already heading towards the hidden Silver Demons within the crowd and the village, only Kane stood still.
Because his target was the village chief in front of him, who was also the head of this cult.
Kane had transformed into the Golden Divine Being form, a halo behind his head gently emitting a golden glow.
A cannonball infused with Holy Light shot out from the Floating Cannon.
Trailing a long tail flame, it streaked through the air with a piercing sound, hitting the Thorn Demon's shoulder.
With the explosion's sound, thick smoke enveloped the Thorn Demon's shoulder and head.
"Why don't you come kill me? Don't you hate me?"
Hearing Kane's voice, the Thorn Demon waved away the smoke covering his face, looking towards Kane—several spikes on his shoulder had been blown off.
Seeing Kane's face, the Thorn Demon's gnashing voice was audible even to Kane.
His eyes flashed with a bloody red glow but, unlike other demons, he didn't recklessly charge at Kane for a frenzied attack. Instead, he calmly stood in place.
After all, the cultists in this village were originally humans who had just followed demons.
They offered sacrifices and performed rituals to higher demons, gaining demonic powers while retaining human reason.
Then suddenly, he used his tail to stab at the knight struggling to get up from afar.
The tail suddenly extended, flying like a sharp arrow. But before it hit the knight, a strand of spider silk wrapped around it, restraining the tail.
The Thorn Demon sensed that if he didn't eliminate Kane, he'd have no chance to do anything else.
He let out a mighty roar, the light of the half-blood-red moon shining more vividly, the air filled with faint red particles.
These particles adhered to his surface, making him appear as if he had just emerged from a pool of blood.
With a powerful leap and lightning speed, he dashed towards Kane.
Just before impact, he paused in mid-air, then leaped over Kane's head, releasing dozens of spikes down at Kane.
However, these spikes pierced fiercely into something, but it was a transparent steel plate they struck.
The screeching of spikes against the plate was audible.
Seeing Kane's turtle shell, the Thorn Demon couldn't help but frown, seemingly pondering how to destroy this transparent shield.
However, he was within Kane's 10-meter range, as magical power continuously surged from Kane's hand.
Many constructs were formed on both sides, moving towards the Thorn Demon's surroundings.
When the Thorn Demon realized what appeared around him, he was already surrounded by steel plates, trapped in an enclosed space.
Realizing the situation, the spikes on his body suddenly extended, emitting sharp light, then began to reverse spin.
The steel plates encircling him were quickly torn apart, and he evaded the area with two flips.
However, during his flips, several more cannonballs were shot at him.
He dodged two in midair but was hit by two more, getting blasted into a nearby boulder.
The blood-red skin turned pitch black, and many of the spikes were blown off, but it was clear he hadn't suffered severe injuries, only superficial ones.
Now, however, he looked comically and embarrassingly pathetic.
Kane's actions finally enraged the Thorn Demon. Though once human, turned demon after gaining chaotic attributes, he could often control his bullish behavior.
But now still being a demon, being toyed with by Kane had almost driven him mad with fury.
Then several more cannonballs flew towards him, but the Thorn Demon, anticipating them, dodged.
However, these cannonballs were just blanks, bursting into dazzling fireworks in midair.
This act finally snapped the last rational nerve in the Thorn Demon's brain.
He roared furiously, the red glow completely filling his eyes, a blood-red aura emanating from his entire body.
