Skill Extraction: Exploring Dungeons

Chapter 109: An Uninvited New Teammate (Seeking First Subscription)

Along the narrow dirt main road, they headed to the city gate in front.

Beside the road, the small town's residents were at their doorsteps, with fish drying on racks by the road and fishing nets used for sea fishing.

The air was filled with a faint fishy smell mixed with the sea breeze, making one inevitably feel the breath of the sea.

Kane and his group walked out of the city gate, and the soldiers patrolling the gate and the city wall were caught by surprise and frequently turned their heads to look at their team.

Sure enough, once they exited the city gate, they saw a wooden token erected by the roadside.

The wooden token had "Dungeon" written on it, with an arrow pointing diagonally forward to the left.

Kane raised his head and glanced at the small woods beside him.

The group advanced in the direction indicated by the sign. It seemed to have rained yesterday here, leaving many axle marks on the muddy road beneath their feet, some of which still had puddles of muddy water.

Along the way, many small town residents pulled carts toward the city. The goods on the carts were covered with oil cloth, but the strong fishy smell emanating from them indicated what they contained.

Following the sign, they finally saw a rather simple camp by the sea.

In the middle of the camp stood a tall flagpole, and the flag hanging on it bore the symbol of the Mist Council.

Just as they were about to reach the camp, Kane suddenly raised his hand and stopped in his tracks.

Seeing Kane stop, his teammates also halted their steps.

When Kane turned his head, his pupils had transformed into vertical eagle-eye shapes.

Kreya and the others instantly had weapons at the ready, alert to their surroundings.

Kane stared into the adjacent woods, where a conspicuous copper-colored magic power reaction was flashing among the branches.

When Kane exited the city, he habitually activated Eagle Eye to scan his surroundings, only to discover a copper-colored magic power reaction immediately.

According to the soldiers at the Teleportation Station, no Explorer had appeared for some time; Kane and his group were the only Explorers to appear during this period.

And this magic power reaction was slightly larger than Meizike's magic power reaction.

This ruled out the possibility of it being just a particularly gifted ordinary person.

After Kane discovered this magic power reaction, he paid occasional attention to it, and it always stayed around the Kane Squad, never leaving Kane's sight.

They were about to enter the Dungeon now.

It was better to find out who this person was before proceeding.

Facing the direction of the woods, Kane shouted loudly, "Come out. I've already spotted you. Why have you been following us all along?"

Upon hearing Kane's words, the magic power reaction trembled slightly and then flashed to another tree and stopped moving.

What does that mean? Are they afraid I'm tricking them?

"On the big tree next to the pink flower, no use hiding."

It seemed like the individual had accepted that Kane had indeed discovered them, as the magic power reaction began to slowly drift out.

Watching the movement coming out of the forest ahead, Kreya and the others tightened their grip on their weapons, staying alert.

Upon seeing the appearance of the magic power source, Kane and his group were somewhat dumbfounded.

It was a small person, about the size of a human head, with pink, transparent wings resembling a butterfly's fluttering behind it.

It wore a red and white Lolita dress, with hair that appeared to be dyed yellow.

In its hand, it held a staff about the same size as itself, which looked more like a fairy wand in shape.

This was a Little Fairy, a rare race with a small population but each member blessed by the Mist.

"Hehe, caught me, now you get to be the seeker." The childish, girlish voice came from her mouth.

?

What are you talking about?

Seeing the blank expressions on Kane and his team, this Little Fairy realized there was a big problem with her words.

She knocked her head slightly with the fairy wand in her hand and stuck out her tongue.

"Hehe, sorry, what I meant to say was, can I join your team?"

Is this person naturally good at making friends? Kane felt a bit helpless with this Little Fairy's series of actions.

"Why should I let you join our team? And who are you exactly? Why are you following us?"

Faced with Kane's questions, the Little Fairy fluttered her wings and flew up and down.

After circling around Kane, she said, "Because I also want to form a team to explore the Dungeon. After becoming an Explorer in my hometown, I snuck out when I heard there was a Dungeon here but found no Explorer."

"It's my first time leaving home, and I got lost." Then she made her hands into a circle over her eyes, addressing Kane.

"And you have the scent of the Mist on you, so you can't be a villain."

Hearing the Little Fairy's words, Kane frowned. The scent of the Mist, was she talking about the Mist Warrior Badge on him?

However, Little Fairies are known as the children of the Mist, able to sense Kane's Mist Badge, which was not surprising.

He then continued to ask the Little Fairy, "Then who are you? Or rather, what are you good at? Without knowing any of this, how can I know if you fit our team?"

Upon hearing Kane's words, the Little Fairy cheerfully flew around the group, emitting giggles.

"I haven't agreed yet, so why are you so happy?"

"Ah, yes." The Little Fairy stopped quickly, clasped the sides of her skirt, and curtsied, "My name is Lilulu, Spirit of Fairy Tales, from the Dream Garden, and I am a Mage."

She then waved her staff, and three colorful stars appeared around her, flying toward a nearby boulder as she waved her staff.

"Bang"

With a loud bang, the human-sized boulder was shattered to pieces.

Watching this, Kane turned to look at his teammates, using his eyes to inquire whether they approved of this temporary new team member.

Longbei shrugged, showing no objection, while Meizike and Kreya nodded.

After all, their team indeed needed a Mage. Now that a Mage was offering to join them, there was no reason to refuse.

Moreover, Little Fairies are known for being strong and kind. Otherwise, they wouldn't be continuously blessed by the Mist.

They could see how it worked out first, and seek another Mage if it didn't.

Though this Little Fairy had a naive demeanor and loved to giggle, her ability to keenly sense the aura on Kane and her previous attack both showed her depth.

Since his teammates all agreed, there was no reason to refuse.

He said to Lilulu, "For now, I invite you to temporarily join our team. If there are any issues or you're not suitable, then you might have to leave. Is that okay?"

Lilulu folded her arms and hovered mid-air, with a slightly pouting face and a somewhat displeased tone, "Lilulu is so great, there's no way I wouldn't fit with a team. Besides, Lilulu is both kind and cute; surely you'll like me."

At Lilulu's childish outburst, everyone shook their heads, amused.
