The Exorcism Began in America.

Chapter 248: The Lost Necklace

After the second gunshot rang out, the Evil Spirit finally couldn't hold on anymore and turned into a handful of ash in the blink of an eye.

"Done!"

She checked the Compass in her hand. Seeing no unusual reaction, she casually turned off the recorder on her chest and approached the window from which the Bizarre had tried to escape.

This Bizarre's last reaction is a bit strange!

Normally, an Evil Spirit driven more by instinct than reason should have chosen to possess me. Why would it try to flee out the window?

Seeing the ladder that had appeared beneath the window, the corners of her mouth twitched slightly.

Recalling the scream she had just heard, she immediately understood what had happened.

Shit, what an annoying brat!

When she reached the floor below, she saw several bodyguards from the Mancini Family carrying a boy towards a luxurious sedan.

"Elias, what happened to Los?"

The middle-aged man in a neatly tailored suit twitched the corners of his eyes slightly upon hearing her question.

"According to the homeowner, right after you went in for the Exorcism, Los brought a ladder over. It seems he wanted to enter the house from the second floor..."

"Uh... does Mr. Mancini know about this?"

The middle-aged man nodded slightly, recalling the furious voice on the phone. Just then, a shout from not far away interrupted their conversation.

"Elias!"

Turning to see the blonde boy already being taken to the car, the middle-aged butler didn't dare delay. He gave Melulan an apologetic look and immediately got into the vehicle.

"I must leave, Ms. Melulan!"

Watching the convoy drive away, Melulan shook her head and let out a light chuckle. What a brat.

With the commission completed, she naturally wouldn't stay long. She hurried back to settle the Task Points; exchanging them for a medium-grade Spirit Essence was her top priority.

After everyone had left, Mr. Brown, the homeowner, affectionately stroked his daughter's hair. His gaze, however, caught a glimpse of the ladder still standing at the side of the house. Something reflective seemed to be hanging on it.

Once his daughter had fallen into a deep sleep in the bedroom, freeing up his hands, Brown finally began to clean up after the Exorcism.

After tidying up the broken furniture and items in the house and dumping them outside, he cleaned thoroughly.

The house had finally returned to its original state.

Oh, right! The ladder!

Brown, who had just sat down on the couch, suddenly remembered the ladder at the side of the room.

That thing can't stay. That room is too close to my daughter's, and New York's public safety isn't great these days.

When Brown took down the ladder, a delicate necklace landed in his palm.

The silver necklace had an intricately carved tiny cross with what seemed like diamond-like crystals embedded in it. On the back of the cross was an equally exquisite disc, marked with various symbols that Brown couldn't understand.

It looked like a particularly extravagant luxury item.

Looking at the necklace in his hand, Brown immediately thought of the blonde boy who had been picked up by the luxurious car.

Does it belong to that little boy?

The local residents couldn't afford something like this.

「In Manhattan, New York」

Los, who had just been brought home from the hospital, was lying on his bed bored, listening to his father's scolding.

"Los, have you gone mad? How many times have I told you about Bizarre matters..."

George Mancini looked at his son lying carelessly on the bed, anger flaring within him, and signaled the middle-aged man beside him.

At the command, Elias glanced at Los, whose expression had instantly changed. Shaking his head slightly, he led the others out of the room.

I hope Mr. George won't stay angry for too long!

Once everyone had left, George looked at his son, who had curled up. His lips twitched; he reached out with both hands and grabbed his son from the bed.

"No, no, no! I was wrong! Daddy! Please don't..."

Los's pleas were obviously ineffective. George, long immune to his son's begging, brought his hand down on his son's buttocks.

A few minutes later, having vented his anger, Mr. George threw his son back on the bed. Intending to give another warning, he suddenly noticed Los's bare neck.

"Los, where is your necklace?" a tense George asked seriously, pulling his son in front of him.

Los, who had been covering his behind, was startled by the question and felt around his neck.

"It's gone! I must have lost it somewhere..."

"Damn it! Find it, quickly! Elias... Elias..."

Anxious, George immediately threw back the bedsheets, searching for the necklace.

「In Hell」

At this moment, a native Hell Evil Spirit was lightly sniffing the air.

This scent... it's so familiar!

A voice, tight with hatred, slowly squeezed from the Evil Spirit's lips. The malice within caused its shadowy form to roil. The unintelligent Hell Creatures around it seemed to sense the crisis and scattered instantly, fleeing in all directions.

The Evil Spirit's blood-red eyes shone with a crimson light, radiating a potent evil aura.

It seemed to suddenly recall something. Looking up at the distant blood-red sky, it unexpectedly burst into laughter!

Thank you, Demon God! Damn humans, just wait for me...

The shadowy figure shot toward the horizon in an instant, towards the world it had nearly succeeded in descending upon.

"Sir, all the Bizarres outside have been dealt with!" Elias's voice trembled slightly. The fear from his recent encounter with those Bizarres had not yet dissipated.

"Have someone clean up those bodies!" George Mancini's voice also trembled as he shakily picked up a cigarette, lit it, and put it to his lips.

"Yes, sir!"

Before Elias could leave the room, George seemed to remember something and called him back.

"Wait! Place a commission with the Exorcism Agency. We have too few Exorcists relying only on our own men!"

"Right away, sir! I'll take care of it." Thinking of the two security Exorcists who had already died, Elias wiped his forehead and readily agreed.

As the middle-aged man exited the room, George looked at the bloody handprints densely covering the walls and ceiling and shuddered involuntarily.

He wiped sweat from his collar but suddenly felt something sticky.

Looking down, he saw a fresh, red handprint starkly visible on the collar of his white shirt.

"FUCK!"

Startled, George threw the cigarette aside and desperately tore at his clothes.

So close! It was so close!

He had watched the nanny in his home die, strangled by an invisible hand, her head brutally severed.

If security hadn't arrived in time, it seemed he would have been the Bizarre's next target.
