"Indeed." The Forest Lord lifted his chin: "A Half-Elf told us of your strength and great achievements, so we decided to evaluate whether you are worthy of becoming a friend of the Wood Elves. After that perfect countercharge on that rainy night, we believe Lord Laine is deserving of being a cooperative partner with the Wood Elves, so we have appeared."
Are all Elves this arrogant? Black lines appeared across Laine's mind.
Half-Elf... it's Estelle!
Reason told the Holy Grail Knight that now was not the time for impulsiveness. The timing was tight, and no one wanted to start a war with the Wood Elves at this critical point. So Laine tentatively said, "Then, are you here to help us?"
"Indeed." To his surprise, Delina openly admitted: "We believe there's no better time to offer aid than now. Our forces are too few, and you lack direction. This is exactly a time when humans and elves need each other."
Laine was silent.
The Genetic Primarch didn't like dealing with Elves, be it high elves, dark elves, or wood elves; they were all no good, as Laine had deeply realized.
But he had no choice now, and the Wood Elves had shown enough sincerity. So, the Holy Grail Knight sighed and said, "I give you twenty minutes to convince me."
"You all know the Ten Thousand Demon Rock is the Chaos Core, but you are unaware that on the opposite side of the Ten Thousand Demon Rock is the beacon stone our Wood Elves use to suppress the Power of Chaos and evil corruption." Delina knew the Holy Grail Knight before her had compromised, so she continued, "They are essentially magical stones that emit energy, and we can quickly find them in the forest... In fact, we've already found it about thirty kilometers from here."
"There are probably more than two thousand Beastman Tribe members guarding the Ten Thousand Demon Rock. We lack sufficiently strong elite heavy armored infantry, and we also found that your Brittania army seems to lack adequately powerful ranged infantry? Eslelin is willing to help you."
"... I have to admit that perhaps an alliance is the better choice." After careful consideration, Laine finally nodded: "Although I still cannot trust you, perhaps as you said, we need each other."
"The ancient covenant is reestablished; humans and elves will once again fight side by side against evil."
So Laine waved his hand, signaling the knights to lower their guard, and the Forest Lord also nodded, signaling the Wood Elves to no longer aim their bows and spears at the knights.
After a twenty-minute "friendly" meeting, the Brittania Knights and the Wood Elves of Aisloron formed a temporary alliance. Humans and elves joined forces and moved towards the Ten Thousand Demon Rock together.
The Forest Lord Delina nodded in satisfaction. She blew a whistle, and several carts loaded with a large amount of food and sweet wine from the forest emerged from the depths of the army: "This is a gift from the forest, please accept it, our allies."
The humans cheered endlessly. The vibrant fruits, thirst-quenching sweet wine, and the exquisite food specially made by the Wood Elves were unlike anything the peasants had ever seen. Even the knights were amazed by the generosity of the Wood Elves.
Animosity quickly dissipated, and all of this was observed by the Forest Lord Delina.
Several months ago, a Half-Elf returned to the tree sea. He was questioned by the King of the Forest, Olein, and from his mouth, the Eslelin learned about the changes in the outside world.
From the mouth of this Half-Elf, the Wood Elves repeatedly heard one name, that of the famous human hero, the Holy Grail Knight, the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy, Laine Macado. The proud Half-Elf acknowledged his strength and emphasized that he was about to become a Lord Nobility of the Knight Kingdom.
This ultimately led to the appearance of the Forest Lord Delina and this Wood Elf army. After assessment, Delina believed that the virtues, strength, courage, and determination to fight against Chaos demonstrated by the humans before her were deserving of becoming partners with the Wood Elves.
Thus, an alliance was formed.
The knights had no objections to Laine choosing to ally with the Wood Elves. Brittania itself already had diplomatic relations with the Wood Elves, and there were treaties of non-aggression and mutual aid. Gabriel merely lamented: "Lord Laine, your reputation is truly impressive. We actually got to see the legendary Wood Elves, and they even offered to form an alliance with us."
"Perhaps it's just luck. I've always had good luck." Laine nodded with a wry smile, knowing the Wood Elves had appeared with a purpose. But just as Delina had said, at this juncture, humans needed the Wood Elves, and the Wood Elves needed humans. Ten Thousand Demon Rock was a mutual goal, and Beastmen were a common enemy for both.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and what's more, there is a loose alliance between us.
The two armies merged into one. Laine could see the Wood Elves' Woodland Cavalry moving like butterflies, speeding through the dense forest and underbrush as if it were not a forest but open plains.
The knights watched with envy, and many tried to communicate with the Wood Elves, but the Wood Elves did not understand what they were saying.
Seeing this, Laine tried speaking to Delina in Elf Language: "I've never seen your traces. How did you come to the Arden Forest?"
"We traveled through the Era Oak... which you call the roots of the World Tree, moving underground," Delina nodded, "It's a special method, and that's all I can tell you."
