"Are these really Green Skins? I've never felt Green Skins were this weak before," someone murmured.

"We've also weakened quite a bit. Normally, this battle should be settled within five minutes, or we would disgrace our honor," the leader said loudly. "Now, let's begin the operation. Stay hidden as much as possible and try not to be discovered by the locals!"

"Yes!"

......

Today, the knights returned victoriously.

The citizens of Marinburg were ecstatic; they poured out of the city to welcome the alliance army returning from the bloody battle. The elderly, women, and children did their best to offer their meager gratitude to the warriors. Many drinks, food, and blankets were presented to the soldiers, who did not refuse them, as they truly needed these after their bloody return.

Flowers filled the air, as citizens strove to offer cheers and praises to the triumphantly returning warriors. The streets were festooned with ribbons, and flowers rained down through the air. Most soldiers were wounded, with many having only simple bandages covering their injuries, still bleeding lightly.

"Victory! Long live the Empire!"

"Long live Emperor Charlemagne! Thank you to our soldiers!"

"You are the best!"

The citizens offered heartfelt blessings to these soldiers who defended their homeland.

Cartloads of processed Green Skin heads depicted the rich spoils of the alliance army. As the army entered the city, Marinburg's nobles had to make a token gesture. They pulled out boxes of white bread to hand to the blood-covered soldiers, as a form of gratitude for defending their city. The most generous by far was the Half-Elf's Kunisberry Commerce Association, who brought out over a dozen fat pigs, slaughtered them, and cooked up big pots of rich meat soup for the alliance soldiers to taste.

"The Half-Elves cannot go to the battlefield like His Grace the Duke but are willing to farm and manage, providing the soldiers with a safe rear," said the president of the Kunisberry Commerce Association respectfully, handing over a large bowl of fragrant meat soup to Griffin Duke Ivan.

Ivan accepted it, finishing it in no time: "Half-Elves and humans are inseparable, prospering and suffering together; we are all citizens of the Empire, please do not stand on ceremony."

Neither the Empire's army nor Marinburg's troops hesitated to accept, but when it came to Brittania's army, the peasant infantry corps hesitated. They swallowed their saliva, dearly wanting it, yet did not reach out to take it.

The knights did not concern themselves with the infantry. They praised their Lady's name and proudly introduced their glorious deeds to the citizens, shouting about how many Green Skins they had vanquished and how great their feats were.

Laine had already cleaned himself thoroughly and changed into standard attire of Brittania's nobility. The golden Holy Grail Knight Badge hung on his chest, all brought by Holy Grail Knight Jules, showing how much the Lake Fairy valued him. Laine could also feel the Lake Fairy was still watching him.

She has been watching for quite a long time...

Ahem, lost in thought, Laine refocused his attention on the peasant infantry.

Surprisingly, these Brittania infantry were not as weak as expected. Having some understanding of the Knight Kingdom beyond the Gray Mountain Range, Laine once believed Brittania's infantry corps were mere cannon fodder, only meant to buy time for knights to maneuver and flank.

However, after this battle, Laine found the Brittania infantry corps had their merits. These soldiers might not be strong enough for attacks or breaking through enemy lines, but as long as they held their ground, raised their long spears, and defended the position, giving time for knights to maneuver and charge was enough; no need for unrealistic expectations.

Though these infantry were of peasant origin, they had undergone sufficient training at their lord's castle before being dispatched. The type of direct conscripts recruited from among peasants, Laine never had the chance to see. These soldiers might have weak combat abilities, but their cost was also low. Lowering expectations, this level of combat power was already acceptable.

Thoughts clear, Laine finally spoke: "Sir Jules?"

"Does Lord Laine need something?" Holy Grail Knight Jules with his brown goatee, his expression kindly.

"Let the soldiers eat, this battle they contributed too," Laine said calmly.

Jules thought for a moment, then nodded, agreeing with Laine's point of view. With a wave of his hand, the Ranger Knights and Kingdom Knights dared not and would not defy his command, and at last, the soldiers could wholeheartedly enjoy the food. Many of them ate greedily, their ravenous demeanor causing young Ranger Knights to despise them anew. They felt it lacked honor and decorum for these peasants to eat like this, some Ranger Knights even feeling ashamed to associate with them.

However, they earnestly praised the virtues of the two Holy Grail Knights.

The peasants loudly praised Holy Grail Knight Jules and Laine for their generosity and compassion. They felt the Holy Grail Knights were truly the embodiment and symbol of virtue, allowing even peasants like them to eat white bread and meat.

The exceptional performance of the peasants in today's battle was due to this. The presence of Holy Grail Knights greatly motivated the peasants' morale.
