Haiyun muttered under his breath, grumbling so low only he could hear: Hmph. Both father and daughter are the same—neither can be taken seriously. Honestly, if not for their powers, they'd have been kicked out of the sect master's seat ages ago.
The two elders walked on, their steps carrying them toward the quieter side of the compound, where Tian Lei's quarters were located.
Soon, they reached his door. Haiyun raised his hand and knocked.
Inside, Tian Lei stirred. His body still ached, but his senses were sharp. He opened the door, bowing slightly when he saw the two elders. "Elder Haiyun, Sect Master Mu Jian. To what do I owe this visit?"
Mu Jian's gaze was unusually solemn. "From this moment onward, what you hear must remain sealed in your heart. Not a word to anyone."
Tian Lei's eyes sharpened. He nodded. "I understand."
Haiyun exchanged a glance with Mu Jian, then stepped forward. "In recent months, the sect received news of a discovery. One of the Five Divine Lands has been found again."
Tian Lei's breath caught. "The Five Divine Lands…?"
Haiyun nodded gravely. "Yes. Ancient realms left behind by forgotten sects, each containing inheritances beyond imagination. This one lies hidden within the ruins of a powerful sect that perished long ago. But…" His expression calm. "It is warded. Only those at the Spirit Master stage or lower can enter."
Mu Jian folded his arms, his voice deep. "The sect has decided to send you, Tian Lei. Your growth has already surpassed all expectations, and this opportunity may temper you further. But do not misunderstand—this isn't simply a gift. The Divine Land is perilous. Even with your talent, stepping inside may cost you your life."
Tian Lei looked at them calmly. "Can I refuse?" and inwardly he thought 'Others may hunger for the techniques and inheritances of ancient sects, but I already possess all that I need. It isn't necessary for me.'
'Thanks to my infinite Library, I don't have to risk my life like other cultivators' Tian lei thought.
Haiyun raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure you don't want to go? Many would kill for the chance. What you stand to obtain is not something easily ignored."
Mu Jian's eyes narrowed. "The ruins of the Divine Land are not only filled with the inheritances of ancient sects, but countless natural treasures as well. Flames born for alchemy, herbs long thought extinct, even spirit veins that can temper one's very soul. These opportunities are not things you can dismiss lightly."
Tian Lei's thought ofr second, hmm, If I can get a treasure that increase my stregth faster, then I guess it will be worth it'. At last, he said, "Very well, I'll go. Where is it—and what is said to lie within?"
Haiyun and Mu Jian exchanged a look before Mu Jian explained slowly, his tone grave. "The site is hidden within the remains of the Myriad Heaven Sect—an ancient sect unlike any other. They did not walk a single path of cultivation. Instead, they mastered all streams—body refinement, soul forging, elemental control, dao comprehension. They sought to fuse every path into one. Each disciple was said to be a god in their own right. But in the end, their ambition became their downfall, and the sect was annihilated."
Tian Lei's brows lowered slightly. "To fuse every path into one… that ambition was bound to collapse."
Haiyun gave a low chuckle, though his eyes gleamed. "Collapse, yes. But before that, brilliance. Even in their final days, disciples of the Myriad Heaven Sect fought against armies of holy lands. They stood unbeaten until the heavens themselves turned against them. Some say they defied natural law. Others claim they touched a realm beyond mortality."
Mu Jian's voice was measured. "The ruins that remain are fragments of their legacy. Within lie inheritances, treasures, and trials. Only those who have stepped into the Spirit Master realm may enter without being destroyed outright. Even then, survival is uncertain. The land itself tests intruders."
Tian Lei stood still, his gaze steady. "If it holds trials, then it is where I will go."
Haiyun's lips curved faintly. "That is the response I expected."
Mu Jian inclined his head. "Do not treat it lightly. Many so-called prodigies have perished there. Walk as if death is always before you."
"I will." Tian Lei's answer was calm, neither hesitant nor eager.
The two elders exchanged a brief nod. Mu Jian continued, "You have three days. When the seal opens, it will remain so for a month. Miss this chance, and it may not return for decades."
Tian Lei gave a slight nod, then turned toward the distance. "Understood."
Haiyun folded his hands behind his back. "Good. Spend these three days well. When the seal opens, the entire region will descend into chaos. Every sect, every clan, every rogue cultivator will send their elites. Blood will be spilled before anyone even steps inside."
Mu Jian's gaze narrowed. "Do not underestimate the others. Many will see you as a target the moment you arrive. Some will strike to cripple you before you can even enter the ruins."
Tian Lei's voice was level. "If they come, I will cut them down."
Haiyun smirked, stroking his beard. "Direct and simple. I like it."
Mu Jian let out a quiet sigh but did not argue. "Prepare yourself. When the time comes, we will send you with an escort, but once you cross into the Divine Land, no one will protect you. Your path will be your own."
Tian Lei inclined his head slightly. "That is how it should be."
The elders exchanged one last glance before turning away, leaving him in silence.
Tian Lei stood alone for a long moment, then walked back into his quarters. His steps were steady, his expression unchanged.
He sat cross-legged on the mat, letting the silence of the room settle. His eyes closed halfway, his tone even as he spoke to himself.
"I came here only to partipate in the tea party, thinking I would simply cultivate, train quietly, and remain unnoticed. Yet one after another, troublesome matters keep falling on my head. I don't seek to be the so-called protagonist of anyone's story. Those types always win in the end, yes—but they pay with endless suffering, betrayals, and losses. It isn't a fate I care for."
His voice was flat, neither bitter nor wistful, simply stating fact.
"Still, some things cannot be avoided. This Myriad Heaven Sect ruin… if my instincts are right, there may be something there worth my time. If not, then I'll treat it as another stone on the road."
He let out a slow breath and shifted into meditation. Golden light flickered faintly around him as he entered his Fortune Realm. Within that vast, infinite sky of his inner world, stars and currents of energy swirled without end. He raised a hand, and willed it, and then all the books on the Myriad heaven sect came to him, they were their techniques even the inheritance one but he was finding something else.
One of them glowed faintly, its title clear: Records of the Myriad Heaven Sect.
Tian Lei opened it without hesitation.
The tome unfolded in his Fortune Realm not with the turning of pages, but with the unfurling of heavens. Words were rivers of light, each line etched with dao-rhythms so profound they seemed to sing in harmony with the stars of his inner world.
"We, the disciples of the Myriad Heaven Sect, do not pursue a single dao, for all daos belong to us. The body is a vessel, the soul a spark, the elements tools, the dao a road. Together, they must converge into one eternal path—the Heaven of Myriad Truths."
The records shifted, showing images—disciples shattering mountains with their fists while summoning storms with a glance, chanting scriptures that bent heaven and earth, weaving flame, sword, and thunder into one strike. They were not cultivators bound by limits—they were embodiments of infinity.
But as Tian Lei read further, the light dimmed. The text grew jagged, filled with scars of desperation.
"We grew too vast. The dao itself rebelled. The heavens rejected us. In unifying all, we were left with nothing. And so the calamity came…"
A blood-red stain spread across the next page. No, not stain—memory. A projection of their fall. Tian Lei saw endless armies descending upon the sect. Demons, humans, beasts, and even heavensent calamities. The sect's arrogance had drawn every enemy, and their pursuit of all paths had left them defenseless to any one path's flaw.
Finally, at the very end, a line glowed brighter than all the rest:
"To whomever inherits these words… the true treasure of the Myriad Heaven Sect is not our techniques. It is the Key of Unification. Seek it, and you shall walk where we failed."
Tian Lei closed the book, rubbing his chin. "The Key of Unification… what is it talking about?" he murmured as he meditated. "I guess it's going to be more than just the sect's techniques. I'll probably gain something great there."
