The sisters' parents got to know Mira and Fey a little bit better and learned more about overseers and their additional skills. Using those, the teal fox blessed them with the ability to understand the language of the world their daughters now live in. To round things up, Sophia learned a new way of sharing her magic with her parents, so they won't be able to immediately use it in order to get used to it first.
"I don't think I feel any different."
"I briefly felt a warm sensation when she touched my hand, but that was about it." Sophia had just finished giving their parents a small portion of her magic, but the two looked rather confused afterward.
"It usually takes about a day to take effect." The tiger smiled at them. "Then again, I only made magic reside inside of you, so I'm not sure if you're supposed to feel anything at all. Mira?" She looked at the overseer for help.
"You two might feel slightly more energetic in a few days, like having a bit more energy, but that's about it." She nodded a few times.
"As someone raising a baby at the moment, I can't think of anything that sounds better than that." Lydia liked the sound of that.
"Very much so." Pete felt the same.
"That's fair, but you'll feel a lot more energetic once you have magic at your actual disposal." Mira could see the logic behind that. "Especially because Sophia and Steph, knowing them, will make sure you'll have more than enough."
"We sure will!" The sisters perfectly synced up.
"Does that mean we could theoretically go explore together with Theo and Eve now?" Pete had lost track of the situation again.
"Usable or not, I can feel some magic radiating from inside of you that doesn't feel all that different from the beastfolk." Chloe concentrated on the two for a moment. "I'm quite sensitive to it, too, so no one with a regular sense of magic would ever notice anything."
"That does sound promising." He nodded a few times.
"I recommend thinking about your wardrobe, though." Mira briefly mustered the couple from Earth. "Obviously, I'm not talking about fashion here. Locals would get confused about foreign prints or materials that don't exist in this world, though."
"Ohh, that's a good point!" Lydia hadn't thought of that.
"I'd even recommend getting some clothes from the capital beforehand." Chloe addressed the two. "You are planning to pretend to be a hidden, right? As in being part of the beastfolk but having no visible animal features."
"Yes." The duo nodded. "We think." They still weren't quite sure about the whole operation.
"There are a bunch of clothes for the beastfolk to accommodate ears and tails like hats that either have cutouts for ears or are molded for them to go under the hat. Some skirts and pants are able to hide a number of tails, too. Sometimes, a tail can be a bit of a bother or get in the way, after all, so taming it behind a cape-like piece of cloth is not the worst course of action. Well, there are obviously no clothes that could hide my tail, but that's beside the point." She stole a quick glance at the mass of fluff behind her before continuing. "Even so, wearing at least some of them would probably lead to most around you not even noticing you're effectively a hidden."
"Ohh, that's a great idea!" Sophia liked the suggestion. "Those types of clothes are so common that it would totally work."
"I wouldn't mind getting some for you before your trip to the capital." The pink fox smiled at the sisters' parents.
"You're so sweet!" Lydia was touched by her care for them.
"Thank you." She also scored extra points with Pete.

"Let's go!" Steph was getting excited over the progress they had made today.
"Should I tell Maya's parents about this to see when they're free, or do you need more time to prepare yourself?" The tiger tilted her head while looking at her parents.
"If you want to wait until we've prepared ourselves, you'll be waiting for quite a while." Her mother just stared back at her.
"I take that as a yes on the being ready front!" Sophia smiled at them. "I'll tell Eve and Theo immediately before you change your mind!"
"Sure." The two had given up already.
"What are you going to do about Sari, though?" Chloe took a quick glance at the baby in Sophia's arms before looking at the couple. "I obviously have no experience with babies, but they need quite a bit of attention, don't they? I feel like it could be a bit of a distraction caring for her while exploring a potential new home?"
"Don't worry, big sis Sophia will lovingly take care of her while you two take a look at the capital, no matter how long it takes!" The tiger smiled at her parents. "That's why, feel free to take your time as much as you want! Maybe like a month or two?" She gave Sari another gentle squeeze while saying the last part.
"Gehe~!" Sari liked that.
"How about no?" Lydia didn't.
"It was worth a try!" She looked incredibly disappointed.
"I appreciate the offer, and we'll gladly let you take care of her during the day." Pete smiled back at her striped daughter. "Sari's too young, and you're too inexperienced with handling her during the night, let alone for multiple days at once. At least when we're not nearby."
"I guess that's fair." She was still pouting, though. "I'd still love to do a 24/7 with her when you're nearby, then! I want to find out how I'd handle that!"
"Are the maternal feelings flaring up again?" Chloe raised her eyebrow while watching the tiger cuddle the baby in her arms.
"Yup!" She had no intention of denying it.
"Right now, things might be slightly too hectic for that." Pete scratched his cheek. "If we're in the same house during that time, I generally don't see why not."
"Yes, I agree." Her mother was okay with that idea, too. "I surely wouldn't mind getting some help with her for a week while taking it easy as long as we're still there."
"Let's go!" Just like the little, or middle sister now, Sophia was also getting more excited.
"How is it like raising a child in this world?" Lydia still wanted to learn more about it and looked at the fox mothers for their opinion.
"Uhhh…" Things immediately got slightly awkward, and the two in question had no idea what to say.
"Hah." Chloe let out a sigh before staring at her mothers. "Yeah, what about that?"
"D-Did I ask something I shouldn't have?" She had a bad feeling about their reaction.
"It's generally a wonderful place to raise children because they're regarded highly as they're the future, so there's much investment in everything that's centered around raising children." Mira then scratched her cheek. "Fey and I made some inexcusable mistakes when raising Chloe, though."
"As Mira is who she is, an overseer, who is, correctly or not, treated as a deity by many people on the planet, we weren't sure how that would affect Chloe's development." The red fox continued. "We thought that being the daughter of an overseer would put too much pressure on her because everyone would treat her as the daughter of the Mira and would have near-limitless expectations of her all the time."
"Because of that, we decided that I would raise her alone after the initial year of us being together, as we thought it would be the best way to give her an easy life without expectations and everyone always glorifying her." Fey finished her explanation.
"That's… certainly a predicament to be in." Lydia wasn't sure what to say there.
"It's certainly a decision, too." Pete looked at Chloe while tilting his head.
"Mh-hmm." The pink fox responded with a grumble.
"A bad decision, yes." The overseer knew what he was trying to imply. "We were so focused on giving her an easy life that we overlooked what would make her the happiest. Having two loving parents, that is. It's especially bad because I would have easily had the authority to demand that everyone treat her normally. You're always wiser in retrospect, but it was our first child, and we were seriously lacking in experience. And, as I'm usually in a position to think about the greater good, I lost perspective on things. It's obviously wrong, and I still hate myself for that, as Chloe, my daughter, is the greatest good, but it happened. I will spend the rest of my existence trying to make it up, and I guarantee that it won't ever happen a second time, but, yes, it's inexcusable."
"Yes." Fey smiled at her partner before looking at Chloe. "Never again. Even if you want to be left alone." For some reason, she also stole a quick glance at Steph at the end.
"T-There's no need to overcompensate!" The pink fox had some mixed feelings about the very last part.
"No matter the world, there will always be some kind of drama, huh?" Pete tried to lighten up the mood a little.
"Very true." The entire fox family agreed with him.
Afterward, the group decided to take a small break to recover from the wound of the fluffy family that the couple from Earth had accidentally reopened. Once things returned to normal, Lydia and Pete resumed asking more questions strictly about the world itself, as there were still many things they wanted to know.
