Damion had been expecting the Repository to be like a library only with shelves of tablets for storing the three-dimensional layered tier 2 magic seals. He had thought perhaps Silver Spire used tablets to store and project each magic seal and if a person wanted to learn a magic seal then they would check out the tablet and study it. Returning it when they were done.
The reality was that the Repository consisted of terminals. About fifty in all. Damion was about to question Professor Holden on how the Repository worked when he pointed out instructions leaflets at each of the terminals.
Reading through the leaflet, Damion quickly understood how the Repository worked. The terminals connected to Silver Spire's database and after logging in and paying the required number of points, the terminals would display a list of available spells for a student.
Once a student made their selection, the magic seal would be downloaded onto their tablet in a special program that could not be transferred or copied and would only last for seven days. If the student was not able to learn the magic seal within those seven days, they would have to spend more points to rent the program with the magic seal again to try and finish memorizing the magic seal.
The method was not flawless, as a student could still show someone else their tablet to let them memorize the magic seal as well but given what Professor Holden mentioned before about the school knowing everyone's spells it would be a risk that most were not willing to take.
Damion's mind was already wondering about ways around the security measures, but for him, who needed but a glance for the Magic System to record a magic seal, these measures were mostly worthless. No one would think he could memorize a magic seal with a glance. All he needed to form a vast personal library of spells was for other students to briefly show him their seals, either on their tablets or by bringing the magic seal forth after they memorized it like Gene had.
"Those of you with high magic talent will likely be able to memorize your spell within the seven-day time limit," Professor Holden told the class. "However, for those of you with mediocre talent if you want to succeed, you need to study diligently. If you fail to memorize your chosen magic seal then you will have to spend points in the future to borrow the magic seal again."
"I have a question Professor," Damion quickly said before Professor Holden to move on or tell them all to begin.
"Go ahead Mage Wells."
"Is it possible to review the magic seals before we actually check them out? I don't want to choose a spell and then find out that the magic seal is more complicated than I thought it would be."
"There is an option on the terminals to view the magic seal once for ten seconds. This allows you to review its complexity before spending points to check it out. This is mostly used for people that are unsure if they can memorize a tier 3 or higher magic seal. But it can be used for any tier of magic seal."
The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
"One more question sir. Can I take a look at higher tier spells this way? I'm curious how those magic seals look."
"You are only able to search and view magic seals of the tiers you have points for. Unless you have 500 points for a tier 3 magic seal, you won't be able to even search for their names, let alone tiers above that."
"Thank you," Damion told the professor, trying not to sound too disappointed.
Ten seconds was more than enough for the Magic System to memorize a magic seal. He might not be able to view higher tier spells, but he would at least be able to view and steal all the tier 2 Ice affinity spells Silver Spire had.
"Any other questions?" Professor Holden asked as he looked at each student in turn before continuing. "Then you may begin."
Eager to learn a new spell and complete his quest from the Magic System, Damion sat down at a terminal. As soon as Damion touched the screen the terminal bought up his information and what he had access to. Tier 1 and Tier 2 Ice and Water affinity magic seals.
Not being able to view all the tier 1 spells in the school's database was a bit disappointing, but Damion would have to settle for all the tier 2 Ice affinity spells. In the two short months he had been at Silver Spire Magic Academy he had already learned that he already knew all the tier 1 magic seals the school had for the Ice Affinity. He considered taking a look at the Water affinity spells, but since he would not be able to openly use them, and since he did not want to waste valuable spell slots, Damion limited himself to the Ice affinity magic seals.
Now, as he looked at the tier 2 magic seals for his Ice affinity Damion was disappointed again. There were only two spells listed. Ice Wall and Ice Sword. He quickly pulled up the magic seals for each and let the Magic System record the magic seals.

Damion could not help but grin widely when he received the notifications from the Magic System. Two quests completed, another 1,000 credits for the Magic System Shop, a new quest revealed itself and best of all, two new magic spells to work on mastering.
"See a spell you like Mage Wells?" Professor Holden said when he noticed Damion's smile.
"Oh yes sir. Ice Sword will suit me very well."
"You used a sword when you worked as a knight yes? I suppose Ice Sword would be a good choice for you."
Damion did not respond, he only tapped on the terminal and checked out the magic seal. He had no need to actually view it, but he knew if he did not check out a magic seal the school would be suspicious, especially once he started using Ice Sword. Damion was not too concerned with the Ice Wall spell. He could already block attacks with his Ice Shield, but it was still good to have just in case he ran into a situation where he needed it.
"May I be dismissed?" Damion asked after the terminal transferred the magic seal to his tablet the terminal had locked him out so now he could do nothing while the rest of the class was still searching and deciding on which magic seals they would try to learn.
"You may. I'm sure you don't need it, but good luck," Professor Holden told him.
