The Prince of Demons

Blood and Ichor Pt. 4

Krahinn

Just how much <Magic> could one demon spam? He had to be averaging seven <Spells> or <Techniques> at all times since the assault of the <Automatons> began. CAN HE STOP TRYING TO USE <WORMHOLE>?! Was this seriously how strong Nil got? It was much closer to Scius than I was expecting which was majorly unsettling. Did Nyx lie about this being a copy of adult Nil? The <Magic> was correct, but the skill and amount of <Mana> were nagging at my mind; this was bordering on the absurd with what it was capable of. <Automaton> Luna was about what I expected, slightly stronger but not out of line. Nil on the other hand, was proving to be much, much more than I expected. Is it Scius having gotten stronger than I realized? Copy Nil tried yet again to <Wormhole> away with Duke Dawnsfield this time as I borrowed Nil's <Arcane Eye> to dissolve the <Technique>. I had to use Nil's vision to check to make sure no time <Magic> was inbound almost constantly. There had to be some method to determine when time was dilating other than using Nil's vision because the ordeal was clearly taking a toll on him.

The air began shimmering in Nil's vision meaning time was being manipulated once again as the lines to make a <Null Space> began forming. I cast my own <Null Space> to intercept his so the two would cancel out before he successfully managed to rip someone away from the team. With Nil's <Future Peek>, I saw him using <Time Revenant> to make one for each person again while simultaneously launching an <Astral Slash> to back it up. That was not worth the <Mana> to stifle meaning it was just better to use <Dark Nebula> to make plates to block the attacks. Nautilus in her full form kept attacking <Automaton> Nil who used <Spatial Corridor> to create a massive tunnel of distance to keep her away which was slowing him down. Forcing the replica Nil to use a portion of his <Mana> and <Magic> to keep Nautilus away from him slowed down his overall assault finally. Something in my head clicked when I saw the water dilate out to see how far copy Nil stretched the space in order to keep Nautilus away from him.

That was one way to measure spatial distortion by seeing how far the stream moved in the space; the water accurately showed how much the space had been distorted by Nil. Little droplets flew off the stream which gave me another realization. That's a way to measure time dilation that doesn't require Nil's vision. Droplets of water. I siphoned a little of the water off and made a construct to drip the water, checking how slowly the drops moved whenever replica Nil began dilating time. The droplets suddenly lurched forward so I quickly used <Warping Ward> to bend <Astral Slash> away from Poam, which got arced back by a <Rotation Axis> from the copy. Poam evaded the attack as I noticed the droplets changed again; several other <Astral Slashes> were in the space that he and I battled over where they were going towards.

<Automaton> Nil already began the next portion of his assault as he tried yet again to try and imprison me in a <Sever> while using <Wormhole> on Poam as he also kept trying to toss elder Nil in a <Null Space>. I used Nil's <Arcane Eye> to battle and counteract the <Magic> some more while Nautilus finally broke his <Spatial Corridor> to slug him full force. Replica Nil put his arm out and caught the first punch as the projected ones descended upon him. She used <Water Slicer>, <Ice Piercer>, and <Arms of Asura> to attack him as he made a shell of <Dark Nebula> to protect himself. Seriously, how was he so proficient? It was unsettling how well the copy was able to fight and defend itself. It had to be improved by Nyx somehow, right? The <Mana> control, <Spell> casting, and overall <Technique> were at a level that was surprising. Maybe Nyx imbued it with Scius's skill level? Why was copy Nil this proficient?

I did a little more testing of the droplets to see how accurately they could determine the time dilation. Forling Nil had no idea how difficult it was to keep up with the time dilation because from what I could tell he was completely immune to it. Did Scius make some counter measure to this? Why did he reset the clock if this is what he was capable of? I was missing something that I needed to look into after this. The droplets measured the dilation well, so that was a good confirmation. Now I just needed a solution for Nil not being crippled because the battle was breaking him down. Nautilus assaulting the replica of Nil finally slowed him down a bit which was quite helpful. Nez was still out of it as he seemed to be trying to grasp what was in front of him from Nox's death. Senna was finally stirring as sparks of <Magic> danced along where she took the full strength hit from <Automaton> Nil. Seriously, did he ever get bored of trying to rip someone away from me? The droplets went haywire as the <Time Revenants> manifested in front of everyone beginning their assault.

Nil's <Lord's Eye> was used to destroy the <Time Revenants> as I erased their <Magic>. I checked Nil, seeing he was about at his limit. His eyes looked like they were starting to overheat and his body looked like it was being held together by his will alone. Replica Luna used <Soul Rapture>, trying to break our minds. Everyone winced as she began using <Sense Distortion> on top of it to obscure our senses, making a gap for <Automaton> Nil. Her <Spells> were not being cast ceaselessly like Nil's, but were adding to the overall frustration from how obnoxious they were to defend against. Poam and Azzeck attempted to reach her again, hitting the <Limit Field> made by copy Nil making the gap between them miles as he stretched the space so they couldn't get close. How quickly he adapted to manifesting and attack queueing only to stop me from moving kid Nil into the way was infuriating. I used <Warp> to bring kid Nil to his mom as she was now standing back up, looking like she was in agony. Not surprising given how powerful the attack she took was.

"I need you to heal Nil as I need to undo <Totem Armor>." I told the groggy Senna.

"Got it." Senna agreed as she began healing his body.

Luna should be able to be dealt with by everyone other than Nautilus and myself if I was gauging the strength correctly. I felt Nil now trying to <Wormhole> Nautilus away because he clearly didn't want to keep dealing with her. It was undeniably risky to untether myself from Nil as his <Magic> and <Arcane Eye> were helpful in keeping the replica in line, but if this pace kept up kid Nil was going to die. It was worth the risk, so I undid <Totem Armor>. Replica Nil immediately focused on me, but it was too late. I grabbed him, Nautilus, and forcefully helped him finish <Wormhole> where we all appeared in what looked like a warzone. Nautilus seemed surprised for a moment as she realized it was only me, her, and replica Nil. Time for some highly destructive <Magic>. <Automaton> Nil wasted zero time casting several <Cosmic Alchemies> now that kid Nil was not nearby. Nautilus cast <Savage Seas> to generate a massive ocean for us all to fight in and shielded against the small suns he was throwing at us; I used <Spatial Cataclysm> to support Nautilus, creating a massive fracture in the <Veil> to counter <Cosmic Alchemy> as it began devouring the suns. The flow around us faltered, showing his time dilation was back in action. I cast <Core Collapse> right at Nil as neither of us were trying to stop any <Magic> at this point, instead just throwing our nastiest <Magics> at each other.

I launched several auxiliary <Rifts> and a <Sever> to augment the attack against replica Nil while Nautilus deduced that she needed to keep him from fleeing. Her <Hymn of War>, <Hymn of the Righteous>, <Hymn of Peace>, and <Hymn of Resolve> now applied to me directly as she didn't have to concern herself with overwhelming kid Nil's body. She positioned herself on the opposite side of Nil as her <Arms of the Asura> attacked him from the other side. He went to distort the space around himself, only to realize I was forcefully trying to bend it back as we resumed our battle for supremacy of the area. Nautilus controlled the currents in the <Savage Seas> to arc her attacks more accurately at him. <Automaton> Nil vanished as Nautilus was now gushing her green blood into the sea as his <Mana> took a dent. Downside of not bringing Nil along, I can't stop him from straight up pausing time. Thankfully, he wouldn't be able to easily break our defenses and keep time stopped for more than a second or two. Nautilus used her <Anima Magic> to forcefully stitch the wound closed as she without pause kept attacking him and trying to crush him with the weight of the sea.

<Automaton> Nil didn't panic, remaining eerily calm as I launched a few <Cosmic Alchemies> at him, trying to think of which <Magic> was the most suited for breaking through his immense defenses. For the first time in this entire slog of a fight, replica Nil wasn't trying to cast multiple <Spells> or trying to activate numerous <Techniques> simultaneously; he focused purely on being defensive to stop us from connecting with him. I could see his mind thinking a mile a minute as he was trying to figure out the best path forward. He stacked <Warping Ward>, <Limit Field>, plates of <Dark Nebula>, and minor time dilation to create an unbreakable shield around him. He adjusted his defenses with ease to keep us at bay while he thought over how to approach the fight. Was bombarding him with <Magic> gaining us anything? Letting the replica have time to think and recover was undeniably not a winning strategy for Nautilus and me.

I sighed as I thought of a way to crack his defenses; he was such an exhausting opponent. Even my eyes were hurting from how much I had been using my <Arcane Eyes> to keep up with the deluge of information from fighting replica Luna and Nil. I began fused my nine eyes down to three, stacking them as they began glowing a bright red, turning the <Savage Seas> Nautilus conjured a deep crimson from the light they were emitting. I formed my own <Void Magic> with one eye set, <Space Magic> with a different eye set, and a stabilizing structure with the last one as I manifested a <Portal> between Realms as I nullified part of it, creating a massive explosion of the <Veil>. Nautilus put a massive wall of <Mana> up as the world shook all around us from the ruinous blast that erupted. The <Veil> then began collapsing on itself as I now rushed the replica of Nil, launching a <Cosmic Alchemy> point blank as he was forced to focus all his defense on the explosion.

<Automaton> Nil's <Mana> took a massive hit as he and all my <Magic> vanished while all the sea swirled in a contained orb. I then realized I was bleeding heavily from a sword in my thigh. What? Time stopping little shiza. Important lesson was even in frozen time, <Magic> constructs stayed in effect which I knew but that was a bit more than I realized. I put my hand on the sword as I collapsed it into a tiny speck, so he no longer had a sword. His arm was bleeding heavily as it clearly took some damage from the assault. After a few moments, <Automaton> Nil vanished. Where did he go? Wait, <Wormhole>. Forl, he can <Wormhole> and <Time Stop> at the same time. I grabbed Nautilus and immediately went after him, seeing kid Nil's eyes bleeding heavily as the <Automaton> nearly finished a proper <Null Space> and <Sever> combo. Go Nil! How did he manage to stifle that? At least I could tell replica Nil was finally running out of <Mana>, not that I wasn't running out myself.

Nil looked to be in agony, as I suspected he did his best to stop adult him from time <Magic> and successfully delayed his next assault. Nautilus went to bite him in half, where he quickly rotated and dodged off of her to avoid the fatal blow. I immediately used <Limit Field> to trap him where he was and restore the time dilation check while Elder Nil came up, successfully burying his sword where the heart should be with a massive <Aqueous Formation> detonation. As the <Automaton> collapsed and fell apart, the last bits of <Mana> vanished suddenly, seeing it used its final moments to bury its hand in his throat with an equally devastating <Aqueous Formation> coating his hand.

<Automaton> Luna froze for a moment, looking soul crushed and despondent as replica Nil finally fell. That gap was all Poam needed to slice her in half to deal with that headache. I quickly grabbed the dying elder Nil, bringing him to Senna who desperately began trying to heal him. His head was still attached, but his throat and neck were grievously wounded by that hit from <Automaton> Nil. I grabbed Nil who looked ready to lose it, preparing to rewind time; I wasn't going to let two of Nil's family die. I felt Nil's body, realizing his <Mana> was spent as his blood was flashing in hisses of steam off his <Arcane Eye>. My body was screaming from the <Magic> fight with replica Nil and eating the <Lord's Eye> <Backlash> for him left me drained. My <Mana> was too low to cast <Fate Reversal>. Unfortunately, elder Nil's life hung precariously in the balance.
