Cultivation Struggles of a Lowly Fox

Chapter 580 – Chen Feet

After calming down, Witch Aiko was not really in the mood to try on any dresses. She also worried that they might not be her size, since even the bathrobes were obviously bigger in certain parts, but since they were easily tied, it was not an issue.

Witch Aiko frowned a few times before stuffing Yu back in. She didn't want to risk pulling anyone else out, so she just leaned back.

Danji was asleep, and Witch Aiko didn't have anything else to do, so it was time for Moon Aiko to do some heavy lifting with all the strange Runes that were around this place.

Her dark hair turned moon-like as Moon Aiko breathed out tiredly.

She was already tired just from the thought that some Runes might have different meanings depending on how you rotate them.

But that would also explain some things that she didn't understand about the Lamp.

Moon Aiko pulled out a snack to calm down her nerves, but this snack was surprisingly soft...

"Feifei..." Moon Aiko sighed.

Feifei giggled innocently while trying to quickly shuffle back inside to avoid any sort of punishment.

Moon Aiko didn't want her to avoid anything, so she just gave her a good spank that also sent her flying into her Tails Storage.

'No snacks for me...' Moon Aiko shook her head as she stood up. It was time to review those Runes and faint from her hard work being invalidated.

Moon Aiko's ears lay flat, so it was obvious she was not happy about this situation.

She couldn't feel anyone around, so Moon Aiko just draped a light dress over herself before walking out.

There was no need to take any of her dresses out and do all the hard dressing when nobody would see her anyway.

Taking a few steps, she already encountered two dozen Runes, but since these were flying around, it wouldn't help her.

She needed to move into the middle zone for a proper look, since Runes over there didn't float around and were stuck to objects.

The middle zone was probably the second biggest. The inner zone was quite small, even with the hot spring, while the outer zone was large because of the garden.

Or at least that's what Aiko thought, but each time she would step into a different zone, the sense of distance would distort itself, making it hard to estimate how big this place actually was.

Moon Aiko yawned as she looked at the Runes around.

First, she tried to tilt them around, since she realised that the Rune meant as 'Tree' would become a 'Vase' if adjusted.

She did it with every Rune around.

"W-what are you doing?!" Chen Shi appeared out of nowhere, startling Aiko.

She could still be considered in her nightgown, just covered, so Chen Shi was even more flustered.

Fortunately, she still operated the [Moonless Mist Shroud] in some capacity, so he was not blasted by her true beauty this time.

"Correcting the Runes." Moon Aiko replied shortly before fiddling with even more Runes.

"What's the point? It's not like these Runes mean anything." Chen Shi sweated buckets.

"It gives me uncontrollable itches if they are incorrectly named." Moon Aiko flipped a few last Runes, and the whole place quivered.

Moon Aiko immediately dashed towards the origin of that tremor, since this thing seemed important to Chen Feet-licker.

It was a small house in the corner. Even Aiko's elaborate eyes were unable to see through it, which shocked her.

Chen Shi blocked the doors before Moon Aiko could enter that place.

"Why are you blocking that way?" Moon Aiko stared at him.

"There is nothing inside, so how about you go rest. You seem tired." Chen Shi smiled, but the sweat on his face was obvious to the naked eye.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Moon Aiko tried to bypass, but Chen Shi held the door shut.

"Alright, I will give you some nice Herbs if you pretend you didn't see this place." Chen Feet-lover said seriously.

"It seems important." Moon Aiko believed that Chen Shi was hiding his research into these strange floating Runes, so she wanted to figure out what he knew.

"..." Chen Shi pursed his lips. He would never allow Aiko-

"Yanqi, what are you doing?" Moon Aiko tilted her head, making Chen Shi shudder.

"Y-Yanqi, I can explain." Chen Shi turned around even without spreading his Divine Sense, since her had to plead-

'There is nobody there?!' Chen Shi suddenly had a bad premonition.

The doors opened, and Moon Aiko barged in, trying to look around.

However, the room was much more... disgusting than she expected.

"I can explain!" Chen Shi immediately stepped in front of Aiko, trying to block as much as possible.

"I don't remember ever being in a bathrobe in front of you, not to mention showing you my feet." Moon Aiko said in disgust, since this whole place was littered with paintings of various beautiful women.

"It's not what it seems!" Chen Shi pleaded innocent.

"Isn't that the plough-me-well-dragoness Zonghan An?" Moon Aiko was surprised when she saw even individuals whom she knew. "I'd better tell Yanqi." She nodded her head seriously, turning around.

"Wait!" Chen Shi stopped Aiko from leaving.

"I'm not interested in you. This won't work on me." Even when Moon Aiko was cornered by him, she still didn't feel anything. It kind of felt like she was a Monk against a fiend, unfeeling and cold.

"I will do anything! Please don't tell anyone!" Chen Shi pleaded with snot and tears, startling her.

"Explain yourself first." Since Moon Aiko was already here, she had to figure out how her bathrobe painting got here.

Chen Shi wiped some of his snot"When I was feeling down, I invited individuals-"

"Women." Moon Aiko corrected him.

"Yes... so that they would bathe-" Chen Shi didn't even finish, and Aiko had the full painting.

"Since the bathrobes were already full of intricate Inscriptions, nobody would suspect you even if you sneaked in a few more..." Moon Aiko nodded her head.

"Yes..." Chen Shi nodded his head obediently as he was on his knees in front of Aiko.

"Alright. If you want to keep this a secret, teach me about Runes." Moon Aiko would gain a lot from this, and he had to teach her, so if he tried to ditch her, she would just tell Chen Yanqi.

"Very well." Chen Shi immediately turned serious. It seemed like he was really willing to do anything to keep this secret.

"Every Rune." Moon Aiko elaborated.

"Of course!" Chen Shi nodded obediently.

"Inscription, Formation, Array, Everything." Moon Aiko repeated.

"Well... we might be here a while-" Chen Shi immediately blocked Aiko when he saw her trying to leave. "Alright, alright, alright! I will teach you everything!" He sobbed under his breath.

"Good." Moon Aiko smiled, almost charming him, but when her face turned sour, he immediately ditched any ideas. "We'd better go somewhere else first, just seeing this room makes my inner arsonist boil."

"Yes, yes." Chen Shi nodded his head.

"And don't forget to burn my painting, sketch, whatever that is, and Danji's too." Moon Aiko added another thing.

"I will do that immediately, so please wait in the guest hall." Chen Shi immediately sprinted towards the painting and collected all copies.

Meanwhile, Moon Aiko went outside, but paused. 'Where is the guest room...?' She paid more attention to the Runes than anything that was going around her, since those Runes angered even her sister.

Shaking her head gently, Chen Shi appeared next to her. "This way, please."

He suddenly turned overly polite, making Aiko shudder.

"Did you sniff so many feet that your brain got damaged?" Moon Aiko didn't want to stay next to him after seeing 'that'.

"You jest." Chen Shi sighed. "I'm just guiding you around."

"It feels like your nose would love to be on the ground to sniff everything." Moon Aiko rolled her eyes. She was slowly becoming like Witch Aiko with her elaborate insults.

It was not a bad thing, but Moon Aiko didn't want to explain her life's work with insults, so she should reduce this.

"You are imagining things." Chen Shi coughed before guiding her.

...

Inside the room, they sat in front of each other.

"If your feet touch me, I will twist your legs." Moon Aiko warned him, since he seemed restless.

"I won't do such a thing." Chen Shi shook his head. It didn't feel like he was the mighty Rune Cultivator, but a teenager being scolded.

"Why does it feel like you did it before?" Moon Aiko stared at him suspiciously before shaking her head. "Explain the Runes outside."

"It's a simple sequence." Chen Shi started his explanation of how the entire thing worked.

"First, the Runes look the same for those who don't know them, so they wouldn't notice that they were tilted."

"Another thing would be that those tilted Runes form an Array. When you interrupt the flow of the Array with the Runes, the Array loses its power and reveals what's hidden." It was a brief but very on-point explanation.

"Is that why some things are named correctly?" Moon Aiko tilted her head.

"That's just to mislead anyone who would invade this place." Chen Shi smirked.

"Wouldn't that just give it away?" Moon Aiko didn't believe that others would see those things.

"It would? It shouldn't." Chen Shi nodded confidently.

"You do realise that I only flipped the Runes because they were getting on my nerves. Are you sure that others didn't want to do the same?" Moon Aiko's eyebrow twitched.

"Well... Zonghan An did want to flip the Runes around, but there were so many of them that she gave up." Chen Shi caressed his clean chin.

Moon Aiko almost plopped over. Someone else almost exposed him, and he didn't think about changing his ways?!

"This makes my head hurt." Moon Aiko groaned unhappily.

"What am I supposed to say?" Chen Shi sighed.

"You are supposed to say 'yes', 'no' and 'insert explanation'." Moon Aiko snorted at him.

"Yes." Chen Shi's back straightened.

"I can't believe that you are only obedient after being found out." Moon Aiko was speechless.

"Well, we are not on the same stage..." Chen Shi rubbed his head.

"Should I twist your balls off?" For some reason, Moon Aiko felt quite pissed off when he said it like that.

"Sorry..." Chen Shi stiffened. He didn't expect for that cute little Fox to be so vindicti- 'No, she was always like this, wasn't she...' He groaned painfully when he realised he was quite in a pickle.
