Great Doctor Ling Ran

Chapter 827: - Pre-operation

Chapter 827: Pre-operation

Ling Ran patiently answered questions from several police dog owners.

For doctors, every surgery varied, but for patients, no matter how small the surgery was, the nervousness remained.

Ling Ran was used to explaining the procedure to them in detail.

Some doctors did not like it, partly because they could not explain it clearly. In most cases, they did not have enough time to do so.

For a doctor who consulted thirty to forty patients in the morning, the average time they could spend on each patient was only a few minutes. Naturally, they did not have enough time to go into detail. Even if the doctor could explain it clearly, the patient and their family members may not be able to understand it.

Most of the high-ranking doctors were always praised by the patients and their families, but that was mainly because they had enough time to do the explaining.

This was because the more advanced a doctor was, the fewer patients they had to deal with in person.

Most illnesses and patients could be handed over to junior doctors for treatment. High-ranking doctors only cared about the patients and illnesses that they wanted to care about. So, the time spent on each patient would naturally be extended.

In fact, Ling Ran had just recently found himself in this position, or rather, he had escaped from the plight of a junior doctor.

Ever since he started providing consultations, he did not have to perform unappreciated tasks and obey the hospital’s medical production line anymore.

Ordinary assistant lecturers did not have any choice in terms of choosing how many patients they wanted to consult. The people from departments or treatment groups sent them out for consultations to bring back the patients, just like how hunting dogs were sent out to bring back game. Taking the initiative to reduce the number of surgeries by themselves would definitely not be approved.

Even if a doctor held a senior position, he could not choose to reduce the number of consultations—not unless he was a medical director. Even department directors could not always reduce the number of consultations.

A treatment group or department was an organic organization. The leaders over there could not afford to not bring patients back just because they wanted to have a good time. How would the junior doctors be able to improve their surgery skills if they did not work?

Besides, the number of patients was directly related to the doctors’ bonuses. Pharmaceutical sales representatives would not even bother with doctors who performed few surgeries. Only doctors with strong mental fortitudes could insist on reducing the number of consultations and patients.

Or if they had Ling Ran’s skill and status. The better skills they had and the broader range of skills they had, the more sources of patients they would have. A higher status also meant that they could decide their patients’ whereabouts and so on.

The houseman next to him waited patiently. When Ling Ran was done consulting all the patients and figured out all their problems, he immediately handed out the forms and said, “This is the hospitalization form. You can take it to the inpatient area in the center.”

“Okay.” After Corgi Man went for his consultation and listened to Ling Ran’s explanation, he gradually changed his mind.

Now, he wanted to have surgery.

He can be considered to have hit the jackpot to be able to receive surgery from such an awesome doctor like Ling Ran.

After Corgi Man got the hospitalization form, he looked down at it and smiled with satisfaction.

When everything was settled, they sat on their beds in the ward, and Corgi Man as well as the others were relieved.

The vice-captain looked like he was abducted. He sighed heavily, exhaled one more time, looked at the ward, and said, “It’s very convenient to put all of us into one room. At least that means we can take care of each other.”

This was a three-bed room, when another two beds were added here, the hospital can fit five people inside.

Ling Ran had been back for some time. The rooms were now fully occupied, and they had almost reached full capacity for the extra beds. Having five people stay in a three-bed room was already considered basic operations for the hospital at present.

“Vice-captain, please help us find a larger room later. It would be better if it’s a single room or something similar to that.” Corgi Man laughed.

The vice-captain snorted. “Yeah right, I don’t even know anyone here. Help you to find a bigger room? Is it so troubling for you to stay with me?”

“What? No! We see each other in the team every day. I’m sure you’re tired of having me around already.” Corgi Man began to act obediently and cutely for his own benefits.

Once again, the vice-captain let out a hum before he took out his phone and said, “Let me ask them. They seem to be really short on rooms.”

Several other team members nodded obediently and did not hurry in unpacking their things. They took out their phones to contact their families.

They thought they could go back after their consultation. They did not think that they would need to be hospitalized.

Captain Chu walked into the door, like a human trafficker. There was a proud smile on his face. “You’re settled down? Have your surgeries been scheduled?”

“Captain,” Corgi Man greeted him.

The vice-captain said angrily, “Our surgeries are scheduled in the afternoon. Old Chu, you did not even discuss this with me before you sent me here before I can prepare myself. You’re making me do things way beyond my ability. What’s the difference between this driving me to do something drastic?”

“Would you have come if I discussed this with you? How long can you last with your legs in this condition?” Captain Chu waved his hand and said, “After I did the surgery, I found out that it is meaningless to delay this issue. Now that we found this doctor after so much hardship, it would be a waste if we did not grab this opportunity.”

“You should have let the others do it first. There are so many things to do in the team. You can’t be on duty right now, and I’m hospitalized, the team might be in chaos now.” The vice-captain shook his head vigorously.

Captain Chu stared at him for a while and said, “Didn’t you take leave for a week before Chinese New Year? When you came back, did you find any changes in the team?”

The vice-captain was stunned.

“You play with your dog all day long. Even when you stay in the hospital, things will be the same. Don’t worry.” Captain Chu paused for a moment, he then said slowly, “I will be back in the team in a few days. It’s just about ten dogs. Having us absent for just a few days is perfectly fine.”

The vice-captain licked his lips and felt resigned.

A few other members looked at each other before they quickly heaped praises, compliments, and wishes on the captain.

“It’s good that you’ve recovered, captain.”

“I hope that you’ll be healthy and realize your ambitions.”

“Captain, don’t forget to send some food to my family.”

The door to the room was pushed open again.

“Come, it’s time to prepare for the surgery.” A nurse came in with steel plates and occupied the door as if to prevent people from escaping.

“Now? So soon? Didn’t the doctor say that the surgery will be in the afternoon?” A few people in the room who were talking and laughing gradually lost their smiles.

“We have to start to get ready for the surgery in the afternoon. There are a lot of things for us to check.”

“A… lot?”

“Routine blood tests, liver function, blood biochemical tests, infectious diseases test, blood clotting function, and routine urine and fecal tests…” the nurse said while drawing their blood. She left a plastic container behind and said, “After you poop, get some into it. A little will do. Close the lid properly.”

The five people looked at each other and suddenly felt embarrassed that they were staying together.

“Are your families informed? They need to sign some forms,” the nurse urged them again.

“Yes,” the captain replied in their place.

“Any smokers? You should not smoke before surgery.”

Several people giggled and did not utter a word.

The nurse looked at them and chuckled. “And…”

“Please, go on.”

“Have you all done surgeries before?”

Some shook their heads.

Corgi Man was a little bit embarrassed. “I did circumcision.”

The nurse nodded. “Well, then, I’ll teach you how to do your business on the bed, which is good for your postoperative recovery…”

The men had shocked expressions plastered on their faces.
