Mr. Tycoon's Daring Wife

Chapter 78: The Storm Becomes A Calamity

The moment Zhao Lifei stepped out of the car, she was immediately ushered into the restaurant's best table since it had the finest view of the city.

She became extremely suspicious of her grandfather.

As it turns out, her intuition was proven correct when she stood before the table filled with the four influential men of Zhao Corporation, including her father whose spiteful eyes was enough to set the room on fire.

Even though this restaurant was extremely private and was used to seeing very impressive guests, everyone couldn't help but stare at her table. It was surprising to see Zhao Moyao in person but what was more impressive was seeing him with two of his sons together.

It was known within the business circle that while Zhao Moyao had given all his children small shares to the company, only two of them were able to maintain an actual position in the company. They were her eldest uncle and father.

The public didn't think it was really weird that Zhao Moyao would've picked an outsider to be one of his successors.

Almost everyone knew he favored capable people over his kin.

When the news was first announced who his Vice President would be, it was like a slap to all of his children. Despite the fact that they had shares to the company, it wasn't significant enough for them to have any say on the position of their Vice President.

On top of that, neither of them were able to argue against Wu Yuntai whose performance outshined all of Zhao Moyao's children.

Zhao Moyao only gave his children 3% shares of the company, enough for them to live comfortably, but not enough for them to overthrow him even if his sons and daughters combined their shares together.

Zhao Lifei stared at her eldest uncle, her father, Wu Yuntai, and her grandfather. It seemed that the only people acknowledged by Zhao Moyao as a family had been invited.

She turned to make her escape but was immediately blocked by the hostess and two burly bodyguards who stopped her in her path and practically dragged her to a seat. She had then been placed in the empty seat beside her father.

Her lips thinned in anger and annoyance at the way she was cornered and had to have dinner with someone who was currently out for her blood.

She could feel her fingers itch to hit something to relieve her frustration. She wanted to say something irrational, but reminded herself that she was in public and with every customer's eyes on the table, she could only bite on her tongue and remain quiet. She didn't want to cause a scene in public, especially when her reputation wasn't at its finest.

She opened the menu and ordered her food. The entire time, she ignored the rest of the table while they waited for their orders to arrive.

She didn't think it would be beneficial to talk to the father who hated her or her scheming eldest uncle. Anything else she had to say to Zhao Moyao or Wu Yuntai would have to wait until the other two was not around.

When Zhao Wenjin saw his daughter was purposely ignoring them, he grew annoyed. The frustration from yesterday came back and he began to lecture her. "Where are the manners I've taught you?" Zhao Wenjin sniped, roughly placing down his cup of water.

Zhao Lifei raised her head, her eyes deadly and piercing. Zhao Wenjin wasn't surprised by this fierce behavior. After all, even if he did not have a hand in raising her, she was still his daughter who had inherited his arrogance and haughtiness.

"You've taught me something? When?" Her tone was mocking and her words were like a sharp knife digging into his pride.

"You insolent brat-"

"Watch your language, father. We're in public." She sweetly smiled, her eyes twinkling. The longer she sat here, the more her blood boiled with anger. Her fingers curled into a tight fist and it took every ounce of her self-control to not lash out at him.

Zhao Wenjin slammed his hand onto the table, the water on his cup swishing from the momentum.

He glared at his daughter with so much intensity, one would think she killed his firstborn. "It seems I haven't disciplined you well enough. To talk back to your father and even dare to interrupt me, it seems you haven't learned your lesson."

"I've raised a brat like you for twenty-three years, and this is what I get in return? A disappointment of a daughter and a failure of a woman. No wonder your fiance abandoned you. Disrespectful and rude, you sure have a lot of guts." He seethed, each word going through Zhao Lifei's ear and out the next.

She looked at him, bored. "I'm glad you know." She said, crossing her arms. Despite the prickling pain in her heart, her face remained haughty and passive-aggressive. She would never show him that he had succeeded in offending and hurting her.
