"Hiss!"
Upon witnessing the act of the Blood Book, Xue Youyou inside Liu Rouxin's body inhaled sharply with fear and covered her eyes with one hand, not daring to look.
Only as a Blood Demon could she understand the ruthlessness of this action; it was no less than a regular cultivator severing themselves, flesh and Divine Soul, into two pieces!
Even for Blood Demons with their terrifying vitality, recovering from such a strike without some unique opportunity was altogether impossible.
Liang Yi, too, was inwardly clicking his tongue in astonishment. What a ruthless person! No matter what he thought, he could not have imagined that the senior Blood Book would do such a thing.
Yet, amidst the breath-stopping action of Blood Book, he acted as if nothing had happened, retracting one half of the Blood Core back into his body and holding the other half with a slender tendril.
"I intend to use this half of the Blood Core to forge a body for you. Are you willing?"
Blood Book gazed directly into Liu Rouxin's eyes, looking through her body to address Xue Youyou within, his expression serious.
At this moment, the voice of the Blood Demon was no longer ethereal and otherworldly but rather like the ringing of a bell, each word and sentence imbued with solemn dignity.
The appearance follows the heart, and the voice reveals what's within!
Blood Book was just so – after being fully released by Feng Luoshu's sacrifice of himself, he was a formless entity, all arising from intention.
On hearing this, both Liu Rouxin and Xue Youyou were startled, with tumultuous waves surging through their hearts.
For a moment, both were too shocked to speak.
Xue Youyou understood well that a body forged from half of an Eighth Realm Blood Demon's Blood Core would be unparalleled in the world, a perfect fit for her Divine Soul.
But before understanding the purpose of the Blood Demon, she dared not accept the offer…
"Blood Book, what are you doing?"
Qingqiu Mingli's brows slightly furrowed as she asked with uncertainty.
Her relationship with Blood Book was not very familiar; they had barely communicated. When Feng Luoshu sacrificed himself to release Blood Book, she had already died in battle.
During the countless years following the destruction of the epoch, her residual spirit was collected into the body of her sword and protected therein, affording her no chance to interact with Blood Book, leaving her completely oblivious to his intentions.
The only connection between them was the now-gone Feng Luoshu.
"I intend to change the destiny of the Blood Demon race!"
Blood Book, standing with his back to the crowd and facing Liu Rouxin, only spoke slowly after a moment of silence.
"I am not willing for my race to be naturally burdened with a destiny of slaughter. I simply wish for them to have their own choices, to walk the path they desire, not one predetermined from the beginning."
Blood Book's voice was deep and slow, emphatic and powerful.
This was obviously a deeply ingrained thought within Blood Book, an idea beyond anyone's anticipation.
Everyone believed that the inherent mission of Blood Demons was to slaughter all beings, to kill living beings, but no one had ever considered whether Blood Demons were willing to bear this destiny.
Because it was decreed by Heaven, Blood Demons were born for manslaughter – an inevitable fate!
The emergence of the first Blood Demon firmly imprinted upon the hearts of all beings, becoming a nightmare for many, but the second Blood Demon now sought to overturn this universally acknowledged conclusion, to overthrow this loathsome fate!
Before this moment, Feng Luoshu was the only one in the world who knew of Blood Book's lofty aspiration and it was also the reason why Feng Luoshu dared to sacrifice himself for the complete release of the Blood Demon.
Qingqiu Mingli had always believed that it was out of trust in their relationship that Feng Luoshu dared to make this move after spending countless years with the Blood Demon. But even she didn't anticipate that Feng Luoshu's trust was not misplaced; rather, it stemmed from the trust in their own beliefs as both a mentor and a friend!
The Blood Book was indeed a very, very, very lazy Blood Demon. From its first breath, it was too lazy to even move, nearly getting struck dead by Heavenly Thunder simply because it was too lazy to find a body to possess.
But as luck, or lack thereof, would have it, even though the Blood Book didn't dodge, the Heavenly Thunder swerved! The Heavenly Dao thought the Blood Demon would dodge, predicting the demon's prediction, but this chap just stayed put, waiting for death...
The powerful blast sent the Blood Demon flying and it happened to land inside the body of a newly born infant, still smeared with blood and yet did not cry out like its peers.
The process of possession startled the infant awake, who then took its first breath in this world and let out its first cry.
It was this very cry that caught the attention of an armored soldier cleaning up the battlefield, which, in turn, saved Feng Luoshu's life.
The Blood Demon was too lazy to care about this brat and simply fell asleep on its own. By the time it awoke again, Feng Luoshu had already joined Lonely Moon Valley and embarked on the path of cultivation.
It didn't want to deal with the child, but an instinctive urge within that craved for slaughter was strong enough to disrupt its sleep.
With no choice left, the Blood Demon began to rack its brains for a way to deal with this instinct.
However, the more it thought about it, the angrier it got, feeling that fate was really a dreadful thing. Fate was responsible for their creation, but it also dictated their destiny.
So, after communicating with Feng Luoshu and being named Blood Book, the Blood Demon started its research on how to defy this damned fate.
It didn't want the Blood Demons born after it to suffer the same fate, to become killing-crazed maniacs. That method took nearly an epoch's time before yielding even a glimmer of insight.
Now, to test this method, it needed another newly born Blood Demon.
For the sake of researching the patterns involved, it had already traveled too far down this path—it's the only way to devise strategies based on its own situation, but at the cost of no longer being able to turn back.
The Blood Demon's explanation was delivered smoothly, continuously resolving the doubts in everyone's minds.
After hearing Blood Book's explanation, everyone fell into silence.
"Can't help but feel a bit of bitter-sweet amusement..."
Liang Yi scratched his cheek, realizing that while it was a story of grand ambitions and tragic heroism, the cause of it all was simply too theatrical.
Senior Blood Book is really the epitome of a shut-in, be it in personality or otherwise. You get the impression that just equip him with figurines and video games, and he'd stay put for a millennium.
The bloodthirsty nature within is like a relentless troublemaker, a non-stop alarm clock planted by fate within its body, constantly egging on this shut-in senior to step outside.
Who could tolerate such a thing!
Mr. Orange marveled, now truly intrigued by the Blood Demon. He was eager to see how this Blood Demon would break free from its inherent fate.
The others didn't share Liang Yi's quirky train of thought; they were genuinely overwhelmed by the Blood Demon's ambitions.
A race only stands to forge ahead and establish a foundation of strength through pioneering individuals like these.
Historically, at the dawn of the Mystical Mechanism Continent, the Demon Clan dominated the world with their innate abilities and powerful physiques, with the weak Human Race very much subservient to them.
But it was the emergence of various pioneering individuals among the Human Race who imitated the Demon Clan and learned from nature itself, groping from scratch to develop Cultivation and Body Refining Techniques.
That's what elevated the Human Race to an equal footing with the Demon Clan, and with countless Cultivators' exploration of the Great Dao, they gradually overtook the Demon Clan little by little, making the Human Race the new hegemon of this world!
In front of them now, Blood Book, in some sense, is doing something no less monumental than the very first Human Race Cultivator who invented the Dharma!
