Adam arrives at work and wishes Ellie a good morning, like always. Ellie greeted him back with her signature sweet smile.
"Hey, boss, I have something I wanted to talk to you about," Adam brings something up.
Ellie looks up at him, surprised, wondering what Adam has to talk about. As she sees the seriousness in Adam's eyes, her heart starts beating faster as she begins assuming things.
With everything that has happened between her and Adam, she couldn't help but think about the most obvious thing, and that is how they always find themselves in unwanted situations.
Like Adam walking in on her having sex with her boyfriend, or her walking in on Adam being naked or having sex with Leila.
Seeing how serious Adam seems right now, she starts thinking that Adam might try to confess to her.
This idea was not hers; it was put inside her head by her own boyfriend because he was being very insecure about Adam working for her, and how Adam was trying to get close to her, which Ellie firmly denied, but because the idea was put in her head, Ellie started looking at Adam differently.
His every kind action, his every effort to help her, she thought Adam might be trying to woo her. Of course, she didn't believe it completely, as Adam could just be helping her, but deep down she wanted it to be true.
"Umm, what do you want to talk about?" Ellie asks. Her voice trembles a little with anticipation.
"Not now, let's talk during lunch," Adam says with a smile and heads to the locker room to change into his uniform and open the restaurant.
Minutes later, the first customer stepped in, and Adam got to work. Soon, Leila and Cassie also came in and put on their uniforms to work alongside him.
As the day continued, Adam noticed Cassie being a little distant with him, but her eyes never left him. He smirked, wondering what she was trying to do now. Well, it didn't matter because he is not going to react to anything that she does.
He wants to see how Cassie will act now that her secret is out.

As the morning shift finishes, Adam excuses himself. "I have something to discuss with Ellie; you two have your lunch without me," Adam says.
"What's it about?" Leila asks.
"Nothing. You don't need to be concerned about it." Adam says and leaves the girls alone as they watch him leave.
They are curious as to what Adam has to talk to them about Ellie, but since Adam doesn't seem to have any intention to talk about it, they have no way to figure it out.
"Leila," Leila suddenly hears Cassie call for her. She turns to look at Cassie and sees a different look on Cassie's face, a look she has never seen before.
"What is it?" Leila asks.
"I have something I want to run by you," Cassie says.
"Go on, what is it about?" Leila asks.
"Let's sit down and talk," Cassie says, smiling. Seeing the smile on her face makes Leila feel something's off about Cassie, but she can't point out what. Leila nods her head and follows Cassie to their usual spot to talk.

Adam enters the kitchen and sees Ellie washing her hands.
"Ellie, are you free now?" Adam asks, startling Ellie.
She snaps her head to look at Adam, surprised.
She was just thinking about Adam and what he could have to talk about with her, and was lost in her own head. Adam's voice startled her and took her out of her own thoughts.
"Uh, ya! I am free," she says, her tone a little high.
'It probably has to do with work. Why am I getting so flustered over nothing? He hasn't made anything obvious at all, so why am I freaking out over nothing? It's just a simple talk between an employer and employee,' Ellie says to herself and takes a deep breath.
"Let's go to my office," Ellie says.
"Sure, let's do that," Adam nods with a smile.
Ellie makes her way towards her office, and Adam follows her.
As they walk into her office, Adam locks the door behind him, startling Ellie once again, making her overthink everything again.
But she decides to keep her calm and not blow it; she doesn't want to embarrass herself before Adam for no reason.
Ellie sits down in her chair while Adam takes the chair opposite her.
"So... What do you want to talk about?" Ellie asks. Her tone, a little high-pitched induced by her own nervousness and overthinking.
Adam, of course, caught on to this by now. He could see that Ellie looked stiff in her movements and was being very jumpy to his every action.
'What's going on with her?' Adam wonders. 'Never mind, it's none of my business,' Adam thinks and decides to get to the topic.
"This is coming out of the blue, but I have been wanting to tell you about this for a while now," Adam says.
His words are very vague, which makes it way worse for Ellie. The whole time she has been thinking that Adam might confess to her about having feelings or something close, and his current words are not doing her any favor in thinking otherwise.
"Mmhhmm, what is it?" She asks, trying to be calm and not blow it before confirming what she is thinking about is true or not.
"I have seen you working your ass off day and night. I have never seen anyone put in so much passion and work to their craft while being so elegant about it," Adam says.
His words make it even worse for Ellie. 'Shit, it sounds like a confession, what should I do? But his words are so sweet, and my heart... my heart is beating like crazy. I shouldn't be feeling happy about this. I have a boyfriend that I love, but why is my heart beating so fast? Why do I feel butterflies in my stomach? Ellie's thoughts start spiraling again.
She thinks Adam is about to confess to her. Her face is all red because of it while she clutches her dress tightly with her hands, waiting in anticipation for Adam to finish his words.
"What I want to say is, I admire what you are doing so much that I want to be your partner," Adam says.
Ellie's eyes widen as she hears the word partner. A few seconds of silence follow, then she suddenly gets up from her chair and says it out loud
"I can't! You know I have a boyfriend!"
She denies his confession outright.
Another few seconds of silence follow between them. Adam looks at Ellie, surprised. Even he is caught off guard by her sudden outburst.
Ellie slowly opens her eyes to see if Adam's devastated by her rejection, only to see a dumbfounded look on his face.
"Huh?" Adam says.
"Huh?" Ellie says back.
"What are you talking about?" Adam asks.
"What were you talking about?" Ellie questions as she begins to realize that she might have jumped the gun.
"I said I wanted to be your partner," Adam says.
"And I have a boyfriend...." Ellie says meekly, but she can tell there is a very clear difference in meaning between the words they have spoken.
"Ah! I am not asking you to date me. I am actually telling you that I want to be your business partner," Adam says.
"Business... partner...?" Ellie says softly as realization hits her.
Adam never wanted to confess to her; all those kind acts from him were just that, kind acts. It is she who misunderstood them because her stupid boyfriend put those thoughts inside her head.
Ellie's face turns red with embarrassment. She did the very thing she didn't want to do: embarrass herself.
She slumps back down on her chair and then presses her forehead onto her desk. She doesn't have it in her to show her face to Adam.
Adam suddenly bursts out laughing. "Hahahahaha, you thought... hahahaha.... I was going to confess? hahahaha" Adam couldn't stop himself from laughing.
"You should have seen the look on your face, hahahaha, when you realized what I really wanted, hahaha," Adam hasn't had such a good laugh in a while.
"Stop laughing...." Ellie says. Her voice sounded small, like a mouse, feeling even more embarrassed as Adam laughs.
"Okay~ okay~ I won't laugh, haha, okay I am going to stop. No more laughing," Adam finally stops laughing and clears his throat.
Ellie keeps her head down for a few seconds, and only when there is not a single chuckle escaping Adam's mouth, only then does she lift her head up to look at Adam.
Her face is red, her eyes are a little red and teary. Seeing her like this, Adam can't help but think how cute she looks right now.
Usually, Ellie is the definition of a regal beauty, but now, with her teary eyes and puffy, embarrassed cheeks, she looks very cute.
Adam still can't believe that average-looking guy who calls himself Ellie's boyfriend managed to bag such a beautiful woman like Ellie.
Ellie looks at Adam and sees him smiling.
"You are still smiling," Ellie says.
"Now I can't even smile?" Adam asks.
"No," Ellie says.
"Okay~" Adam says and stops smiling, entertaining Ellie's choice.
Ellie sits up straight and gives Adam a disapproving frown.
"It's your fault," she says.
"How is it my fault?" Adam asks, and the smile returns. He can't stop himself; this situation is too amusing.
He now wants to see how Ellie is going to explain why she said what she said.
