The cold wind howled, slashing against his face, bringing a sharp stabbing sensation.
Qin Feiyang glanced at the lake, then climbed atop an icy peak, looking out over the vastness.
An endless expanse of glaciers lay before him, void of human traces. However, in the far-off distances, he could spot the figures of dangerous beasts.
Qin Feiyang knew nothing about the Land of Oblivion, so he didn't ponder much.
After jumping down from the icy peak, he summoned the Wolf King, and they swiftly set off to the east.
"Hey, Xiao Qinzi, look, isn't that Snow Monkey acting a little strange?"
A Snow Monkey was sauntering across the glacier, presumably hunting for food. Its size was comparable to that of a robust man. Its body was covered in snow-white fur, blending perfectly with the ice and snow. If it remained still, one wouldn't realize it was a dangerous beast.
The Wolf King stared at the creature, its large eyes flickering with a strange light. Because the Snow Monkey, incredibly, had two heads!
Qin Feiyang studied the unusual creature for a moment and frowned. "I feel like I've seen this somewhere."
In the Great Qin Empire, monkeys with one head were common, but he had never come across one with two heads before.
Suddenly, Qin Feiyang's eyes wavered. "I remember now! It's a Snow Mountain Ape."
"Snow Mountain Ape?" The Wolf King paused, puzzled. "What's the difference between it and a Snow Monkey?"
"There is a difference," Qin Feiyang explained. "The Snow Monkeys we usually see, regardless of how strong they are, always have only one head. But according to ancient records, Snow Mountain Apes grow a second head upon reaching the War King realm. And when they break through to the War Emperor realm, a third head emerges."
"Is that so?" The curious gleam in the Wolf King's eyes deepened.
"Something's not right!" Qin Feiyang's eyebrows suddenly knitted.
"What's not right?" the Wolf King asked, confused.
Qin Feiyang said, "It's truly astounding."
The Wolf King hesitated, then growled, "What exactly are you trying to say?"
Qin Feiyang continued, "Didn't I encounter three giant pythons in the lake?"
The Wolf King frowned. "Yeah, what's wrong with that?"
"Wrong? It's a massive problem!" Qin Feiyang said solemnly. "The scales of those giant pythons were snow-white. If I'm not mistaken, they were Snow Pythons! But both Snow Pythons and Snow Mountain Apes are extinct species."
"Extinct?" The Wolf King was taken aback.
"Yes!" Qin Feiyang explained. "In the imperial palace, I once read an ancient text. It clearly recorded that these two species of dangerous beasts existed ten thousand years ago."
"Ten thousand years ago!" The Wolf King was startled and asked doubtfully, "Then why did they go extinct?"
Qin Feiyang shook his head. "The ancient text didn't mention the reason for their extinction. But when I asked my mother, she said it was related to our ancestors unifying the Great Qin Empire."
"So you're saying your ancestors slaughtered them to extinction? Your ancestors were quite ruthless," the Wolf King sneered.
"Don't jump to conclusions," Qin Feiyang said. "Where there is war, there is inevitably death. Moreover, our ancestors weren't the type to kill indiscriminately. Otherwise, they wouldn't have spared the Mermaid race."
The Wolf King grumbled, "Just because he was merciful doesn't mean his subordinates were too."
Qin Feiyang rolled his eyes at him and shook his head. "It's not our place to discuss these matters."
But... the fact that creatures from ten thousand years ago exist in the Land of Oblivion is utterly baffling. What exactly is this place?
Qin Feiyang looked around this land in bewilderment.
"Who cares where this is, as long as I can have fun!" The Wolf King chuckled. "Let me go test the strength of that Snow Mountain Ape. Legacy species from ten thousand years ago, don't let me down!"
He instantly activated his Furious Rage and transformed into a muscular wolf.
"Hey, little monkey, fight me if you dare!"
He reared up on his hind legs, let out a bellow, and charged towards the Snow Mountain Ape.
"ROAR!"
The Snow Mountain Ape turned its head. Seeing the Wolf King approaching, its ferocity flared, and it charged towards him like a human.
BANG!
CRACK!
The two beasts collided like lightning; the Snow Mountain Ape was immediately knocked back a distance.
"This is the legacy species from ten thousand years ago?" The Wolf King was momentarily stunned, then scoffed disdainfully, "Is that all there is?"
"ROAR!"
The Snow Mountain Ape struggled to its feet, glared angrily at the Wolf King, and roared towards the sky.
ROAR!!!
The very next instant, two louder roars resounded from behind a nearby ice peak.
Immediately following that, two Snow Mountain Apes, twice the size of the first one and with three heads on their shoulders, emerged, running wildly.
"They possess the strength of the War Emperor realm! They're likely the parents of that Snow Mountain Ape. Run!" Qin Feiyang shouted.
"Damn, you've got to be kidding me!" the Wolf King cursed. He turned, dashed to Qin Feiyang, shrank to palm-size, and jumped onto Qin Feiyang's shoulder.
Qin Feiyang immediately activated his Wind Controlling Steps and swiftly fled.
Meanwhile, the two adult Snow Mountain Apes ran over to their young one, letting out a few low grunts. The young one pointed at Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King and also grunted a few times.
Immediately, the adult Snow Mountain Apes were filled with rage and, with their young one in tow, pursued Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King.
The Wolf King exclaimed in alarm, "They're gaining on us!"
"This is all your fault! If you hadn't provoked it, none of this would have happened!" Qin Feiyang retorted angrily.
The Wolf King snapped, "How was I supposed to know it had backup? Freaking bad luck!"
Qin Feiyang's face twitched. Everyone said he was a jinx. But in his view, Rogue Wolf was the real jinx.
"How can it be? There are actually people!"
Suddenly, Qin Feiyang's pupils contracted. A few hundred meters ahead, three blurry figures were fighting a dangerous beast.
"They are indeed humans!" The Wolf King, too, was utterly dumbfounded.
Wasn't the Land of Oblivion an ancient relic? How could humans be living here? They had all assumed that, aside from dangerous beasts, there were no other living beings in this place. However, the reality greatly exceeded their expectations.
The Wolf King said, "Xiao Qinzi, do you think we were tricked by that old witch?"
"Possibly," Qin Feiyang nodded.
It all happened in a flash!
ROAR!!
Two Snow Mountain Apes were in hot pursuit. Moreover, their speed was countless times faster than Qin Feiyang's; in just a few blinks of an eye, they were right behind the man and the wolf.
WHOOSH!
With no other choice, Qin Feiyang could only take the Wolf King and retreat into the ancient castle to temporarily avoid the brunt of their attack. A War Emperor Realm dangerous beast was not something he could contend with at his current level.
The man and the wolf vanished into thin air, leaving the two Snow Mountain Apes momentarily stunned. But immediately after, they started charging towards the three people in the distance. Apparently, they assumed those three were Qin Feiyang's accomplices.
"Dammit, why did the Snow Mountain Apes come over here?"
"Quick, retreat!"
Seeing this, the three people's expressions changed drastically, and they promptly turned to flee.
The dangerous beast they had been fighting was a snow-white leopard. It was over two meters long with a robust body, but now it was covered in injuries, its fur dyed red with blood.
Upon seeing the two Snow Mountain Violent Apes, the Snow Leopard also quickly scurried away. In its copper-bell-sized eyes, there was an unshakeable look of fear.
The two Snow Mountain Violent Apes chased for a few steps, then stopped. After roaring a few times at the three people, they returned to their lair.
Shortly after, Qin Feiyang and the Wolf King reappeared out of thin air. Only when he saw the two Snow Mountain Violent Apes disappear behind the icy peak did Qin Feiyang finally breathe a long sigh of relief.
Immediately after, he grabbed the Wolf King on his shoulder and said angrily, "Listen, stop messing around! Otherwise, I'll leave you here to fend for yourself."
"Hmph, you think I'm easily scared?" The Wolf King sneered. "If I stayed here, I might even prosper more than by following you. It might be a more promising future."
Veins pulsing on his forehead, Qin Feiyang fiercely rapped the wolf on its head.
The Wolf King grimaced in pain and said angrily, "Hit me again if you dare!"
"So what if I hit you?" Qin Feiyang, so angry he laughed, fiercely thumped its head again. "Piss me off further, and I'll castrate you!"
The Wolf King was about to fly into a rage. But upon hearing this, he instantly deflated like an eggplant wilted in the sun.
"I refuse to believe I can't subdue you," Qin Feiyang snorted coldly, then went after the three people.
The only way to find out what kind of place the Land of Oblivion truly was, now, was through those three people.
Ahead lay a vast jungle.
Even the thinnest trees required two hands to encircle, while the thickest could not be spanned even by five or six people joining hands. The branches, laden with thick snow, resembled giant white umbrellas—a truly spectacular sight.
The three people were currently gathered at the edge of the jungle.
They consisted of two men and a woman, all appearing to be around twenty-five or twenty-six years old and dressed in leopard skin coats. The two men—one tall, one short—had similar builds.
"We were so close to killing that Snow Leopard, but those two Snow Mountain Apes messed everything up! What rotten luck!"
The shorter youth angrily kicked a nearby tree trunk. The tree trembled violently, and sheets of accumulated snow cascaded down.
The taller youth and the woman hastily retreated to the side, looking at the shorter youth with displeasure.
"What are you looking at me for?" the short youth retorted angrily. "Can't I even vent a little?"
The taller youth and the woman exchanged a look and couldn't help but sigh; in truth, they were also very annoyed.
"Forget it," the woman said. "Let's just call it bad luck for today. It's getting late. We should return to the tribe and come back tomorrow."
"Mm," the taller youth nodded.
"Such rotten luck!" the shorter youth cursed in frustration.
"You three, please wait a moment!"
Just as the trio was about to enter the jungle, a loud shout sounded from behind them.
"Someone?"
The three of them paused, startled. They turned to look, and when they saw Qin Feiyang, a hint of suspicion crept onto their faces.
The shorter youth said, "Look, that small beast on his shoulder... is it a wolf?"
The taller youth looked closer and nodded. "It is indeed a wolf, but why is it so small? Even wolf pups are much bigger than that."
The woman whispered, "Something's odd. Be careful."
The two young men nodded.
A few moments later, Qin Feiyang ran up to the three. He cupped his hands and said with a smile, "My name is Qin Feiyang. Please forgive me if I've disturbed you."
"It's no problem." The woman smiled and asked, "Do you need something from us?"
This woman was petite and exquisitely formed; her cheeks were flushed red from the biting cold wind. Overall, she was quite attractive.
Just as Qin Feiyang was about to speak, the shorter youth abruptly said, "Wait."
Qin Feiyang, the woman, and the taller youth all looked at him in confusion.
The shorter youth asked, "Those Snow Mountain Apes just now—did you lead them here?"
Qin Feiyang cupped his hands. "That was an accident. If we caused you any trouble, I sincerely apologize."
