A Terrible Villain And Their Destiny

Act IV: Let The Game Begin (New readers can choose to start here) - Chapter 160: Towards The Academy

Bryson Coldwater the black-haired boy with equally black eyes who was fated to be the villain of this story was joined by his sister Sable. Her blood-red eyes stared at her bags as one of the knights unloaded them to be scanned. Today was the day when both would head to The Academy and embark on a new adventure.

As Bryson and Sable stood inside the airport waiting for their luggage to be checked, their mother was serenading them goodbye. The crowd gathered today was relatively small, mostly just a few guards and servants. Only their mother was here as Duke Coldwater had given his goodbyes before they drove to the airport.

"Remember children, you both are Coldwaters, do not let others push you around, no matter how cute they are. Especially you Bryson." Duchess Coldwater, a silver-haired and violet-eyed beauty, said lecturing her two kids.

"Why me specifically?" Bryson complained as Sable laughed.

"Because you are easy to use." Sable mocked.

"Shut up Sable."

"Now, now, children don't fight." She chided the two, "Now make sure to use the Communicator at least once a week to talk to us and make sure to focus on your studies and do well."

"Yes Mother." The two said nodding their heads.

"Now before you two head onto the plane, make sure to say goodbye to your former servants." She said gesturing to the two maids standing a bit further back.

Bryson walked over to Lila Frost who was waiting by the side as Sable went to talk to her maid. Lila looked at him with a smile, "I guess this is goodbye for now then."

"Yeah, my parents decided that I shouldn't have a servant brought with me while I'm there. They want me to be self-reliant."

"Well I hope that you won't miss me too much then." She joked.

"As if." Bryson said with a scoff, "So… what are you going to do now?"

"I sent my resignation over, they already approved it and I'm officially off service tomorrow."

"What?" Bryson blinked in surprise.

"There's not much point in being around since you aren't here." Lila said with a shrug.

"So what are you going to do then?"

"I don't know, I was paid pretty well so I can go around travelling a bit. After that, who knows? I'll figure it out."

"What about your sister?"

"Your parents agreed to have Mister Phillip keep training her. Who knows, she might be under your employ fully."

"I hope not." Bryson said with a shiver.

"Stay safe Bryson, I hope to see you again." Lila said with a laugh.

"Hmm." Bryson grunted as he nodded his goodbye back to her before joining back with his sister as she finished her conversation. Once together they had another goodbye with their mother and she gave them a very awkward hug and they grabbed their luggage and entered the airship.

Once they found their room, they quickly stored their bags away. Once done packing Bryson asked his sister, "So we should make it to the capital by tonight right?"

"Tonight? We'll be lucky to make it there by tomorrow afternoon." Sable scoffed.

"What? Why?"

"Don't forget that we're the first stop on this airship, they'll need to fly to the other regions and pick other students up. Who knows how long that process will take?"

"Great." Bryson grumbled, "Why couldn't we just teleport there again?"

"Because it's tradition to embark on an airship to The Academy."

"I don't really care much for the tradition." Bryson grumbled, all this time waiting didn't sit well with him. He would rather be at The Academy as quickly as possible. He had a feeling that Afa might try something like she had throughout his life.

"Doesn't matter, unless you're willing to go against mother." Sable said which prompted an annoyed grunt from Bryson.

"Hey, where's Coni?" Sable asked recalling the little pixie.

"She said that she'll meet up with me soon. She just had something to take care of first, whatever that means." Bryson said shrugging as he sat on his bed, "I can't believe I'm stuck here for a day." As Bryson lay on his bed, a part of him wondered just how chaotic his time would be considering he was labelled as a 'villain' in the eyes of the fake Goddess of Heroes.

Duchess Coldwater hummed a happy tune to herself as she looked fondly at her children's rooms. There was a slight melancholic feeling in her chest as she came to terms with the fact that all her kids had left their roost.

As she was ordering some of the servants store away a few pictures she heard her husband's heavy boots lumber towards her, "Hello dear." She said greeting him with a smile.

"Lilith, have our children departed safely?" Duke Coldwater asked calmly.

"Yes, they are off to The Academy as we speak." Duchess Coldwater said proudly.

"The time there will help them develop." Duke Coldwater said with a nod before having a curious look on his face, "Lilith."

"Yes dear?" She said sweetly.

"I'm curious… while I found that having Bryson form bonds with children his age is good for him, I can't help but notice your preferences of pushing certain types of people towards him." Duke Coldwater said slowly.

"Yes, I imagine with his charm our little Bryson will be attracting a few more throughout his time there. He has learned from our charms of course." Duchess Coldwater said with a happy nod.

"Would you mind explaining to me why exactly you want Bryson to form so many intimate relationships?"

"Alex, we won't be here forever. You and I will grow old and we need someone to carry our legacy and keep the Coldwater lineage alive." She began to explain, "Gareth will be the heir, but will likely only ever have children for the sake of a direct heir. Gilles is likely going to be a lifelong adventurer and have no true children. At least ones that aren't bastards."

"What of Sable and Viola?" Duke Coldwater asked.

"Viola I want her to make her own choices and Sable is too self-reliant to listen to my demands in these matters. Besides I don't want them to deal with that much childbirth." Duchess Coldwater said as Duke Coldwater wondered just how many children she wanted Bryson to have as she flashed a devious smile and continued, "But Bryson, that boy listens to orders, I know how his mind works. He is easily swayed, he proved it with the amount he tries to help others."

"That is rather manipulative of our son is it not?"

"Well, he is adoptive so he needs to pull his weight to honor the Coldwater name." She said smile not disappearing, "With Bryson, I'm going to get both quality and quantity."

Bryson Coldwater felt a shiver run down his spine, "Why is it so cold in this room?" He asked as he looked around, after the airship made a stop Bryson was hit by this weird cold.

"Feels fine to me." Sable said shrugging as she read through a magazine.

"Whatever. I'm going to see what food they have in the cafeteria. You coming?" Bryson said getting up to leave the room.

"I'll just get some room service."
