"So what did your grandfather do? He must have been quite outstanding to catch the eye of such an exceptional grandmother of yours, right?"
Jenny replied honestly, "My grandfather was a soldier. He fought in the Vietnam War and got injured, lost an arm. Compared to his fallen comrades, he was actually lucky. After retiring, he opened a tire shop, and business was quite good. Now, my father has taken it over."
Just that! Chen Feng felt that her grandmother was undervalued.
"To be honest, if your grandfather was just like that, I think he really didn't quite deserve your grandmother."
Jenny wasn't angry; instead, she nodded as if it were taken for granted. "Yeah, I feel the same way. My grandfather was just a rough guy, he didn't even go to college. My father also inherited my grandfather's intellect, didn't make it to college, not the academic type. But my aunt's different; she inherited my grandmother's intelligence. She got into Yale University, became a lawyer, and is now a city councilor in San Francisco."
"You're quite impressive yourself. It seems like the women in your family are more outstanding than the men."
Jenny laughed, "Seems like it."
They chatted for nearly an hour, only taking a break when Chen Feng got up to go to the washroom.
When he came back, he saw she was already asleep on the chair. Chen Feng sat down beside her but didn't wake her up.
Then he leaned back in his seat and slowly drifted off to sleep himself.
When he woke up, more than three hours had passed. It had been a really good nap. Opening his eyes and looking beside him, Jenny was still sleeping. Her dark blonde fringe slightly draped down, covering half her face, adding an extra charm to her features.
Chen Feng almost wanted to take out his phone to snap a picture of this "sleeping beauty," but then he thought of his two women at home and decided against it.
He laid on his side, staring at Jenny for at least ten minutes before straightening up and picking up a magazine to read out of boredom.
After another half an hour, Jenny finally woke up. She embarrassedly wiped her mouth, seemingly with a bit of drool.
"Sorry, how long did I sleep for?" Jenny naturally asked Chen Feng.
Chen Feng thought for a bit and said, "About four hours, I think."
"Ah, did I really sleep that long? Geez, I must be really tired. I really don't want to do this flying-around job anymore. Another two years at most, then I'll change jobs or just start my own studio or something."
Chen Feng agreed, "Makes sense. This flying-around job might seem enviable to others, but if you do it often, it's really tiring. Especially since you're a woman, always traveling internationally, safety is also a concern."
"Safety isn't my main concern. The countries and regions I frequent generally have decent public security. It's just the constant time zone changes and jet lag that make a person feel exhausted."
"How long have you been at this job?"
"Almost four years. Ever since I got my auditing qualification, I've been working non-stop, flying all over the world frequently. The pay is good, but it's exhausting. Plus, it takes a toll on my love life. I'm already 26 and my last relationship was two years ago. We broke up because my ex-boyfriend couldn't stand me flying all over the world like that."
"International relationships are indeed tough. If you could settle in one place, that would be best. I hope you come to Xiu Zhou."
"Though I've visited Xiu Zhou for fun, I'm not really familiar with it. On the contrary, I'm quite familiar with Shanghai. I stay in Shanghai for about three to four months each year. I also have some friends over there."
"Do you want to develop in Shanghai in the future?"
"Not necessarily. If I were to quit, San Francisco and New York would be my top choices. New York has more opportunities, a strong business atmosphere, suitable for starting a business. San Francisco is my hometown, and my family is there."
"Then I'd rather you not quit."
Jenny clearly understood what Chen Feng meant and couldn't help but laugh, gently tapped his arm with her hand, and with a slight raise of her eyebrows said, "If you really want to pursue me, what difference does it make if I end up in New York or San Francisco?"
Chen Feng thought to himself, should I really go that far?
"Sigh! You know, getting a visa to the Beautiful Country is hard. Plus, I wouldn't adapt to life there. Most importantly, my family and friends are all in Rabbit Country; I think it would be tough to leave them."
Jenny felt a bit emotional after hearing this, "I understand you. My grandmother was the same. She had many opportunities to leave San Francisco for better development elsewhere, but for the sake of her family, she ultimately chose to stay in San Francisco. This might be the home-loving tradition of you Chinese people. For someone like me, I'm not so attached to home. Of course, except when it comes to missing my grandmother."
"I'd really like to meet your grandmother if I have the chance."
"Sure. Let's exchange phone numbers first, and when the opportunity is right, I'll take you to meet my grandmother. I can show you her photo."
With that, Jenny took out her phone and opened a photo to show Chen Feng.
In the photo, her grandmother had curled hair, wore glasses, and dressed in a qipao. Slim and graceful, even in her sixties, she still exuded a feminine allure, not appearing very old. She exuded the elegance of an intellectual woman.
Her grandmother was indeed outstanding. Unfortunately, such a beautiful flower ended up on a pile of dung back then.
This flight, with a beautiful mixed-race woman like Jenny to talk to, and sleeping when tired, made the time pass easily.
By the time they reached Shanghai Airport, Chen Feng couldn't help but lament how fast time had flown by.
Before they parted, Jenny generously gave Chen Feng a strong embrace, then released him and said with a smile, "I'm looking forward to our next possible encounter. Of course, it depends on whether we have the fate. My grandmother always believed in fate, and I do too. Goodbye!"
Jenny stepped back a few steps, waved at Chen Feng, and stylishly turned and left, pulling her suitcase behind her.
Chen Feng watched her leave, standing there for a long time.
Until Qin Zhen came over and nudged him, teasingly saying, "You really have some luck with the ladies. You switch seats and end up meeting such a pretty foreign girl. And hugging her, no less. You've got some game. Does this mean you've got her?"
Chen Feng, however, just ignored him and sighed to himself, "Every meeting in life is a rare fate. Sometimes it's not about cherishing, but about the timing being off, or appearing out of order."
