Chapter 218 Revisiting the Commonwealth_1

As a young man, it's easy to get worked up. So the first thing Dean did on his vacation was blow off some steam.

After work, he visited some upscale places. Relying on his handsome face and tall figure, he easily got the contact information of five or six attractive women and invited them to his rental to play Ludo.

It was a night of tense and thrilling board game battles.

On the first day of his vacation, in a living room where cashmere blankets lay scattered everywhere, the piercing ring of the telephone broke the silence.

Dean, who had just closed his eyes for less than an hour, pushed away the three hands and four legs pressing down on him. He picked up his cell phone and saw it was his mom calling, so he hurriedly answered.

"Hey, Mom, good morning."

"Dean, you haven't been back for more than ten days. I was hoping you could help me have a good talk with your older brother, Beck. I think he's lost his way in life."

When Dean heard Sheila mention his older brother Beck, a helpless look appeared on his face. Life is short, he thought. Ever since Beck took a part-time job on a cruise liner and discovered a shortcut in life, he'd been unable to forget that wealthy older woman. Even after Grandpa took him back to the farm and strung him up for a lesson, he remained the same. Such family woes.

Considering he was preparing to take a trip to the Commonwealth, Dean said, "No problem, Mom. How about this? I have some things to do and need to go to the Commonwealth for a while. Why don't I take Beck with me to see the world? Then he won't be so hung up on those older women."

Being a kept man is a shortcut in life, but Beck shouldn't be aiming for a woman who's almost fifty.

Sheila was worried her eldest son might not have descendants, which was why she was so insistent. Otherwise, she wouldn't meddle too much in her adult children's choices.

Hearing Dean's promise, she breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright then, see you tonight, Dean."

"See you tonight, Mom~"

After hanging up, Dean glanced at the women lying scattered about, a testament to the night's revelries. He yawned and crawled back into the den of hedonism, embracing them left and right, savoring the joys of youth.

「In the afternoon.」

Dean got up, full of energy. He woke up his female Ludo partners, who were still sleeping like logs, gave each of them a hundred US dollars for cab fare, and reluctantly saw them off from his rental.

His vitality was at its absolute peak. This often made Dean, who aspired to be a good man, worry about his almost insatiable libido. He fretted over whether the frail Niel could fulfill her wifely duties in the future. If he married Niel, for her safety and health, wouldn't he be forced to 'eat out' often?

Dean shook his head helplessly. It's always been hard to have it all. If you're faithful to your wife, you neglect your 'little brother.' This... is a philosophical question worth pondering.

After tidying up the mess from yesterday, Dean glanced at the time and picked up his phone to contact Kapu, whom he hadn't been in touch with for a while.

Kapu was a Krav Maga instructor Anthony had introduced to him. Of course, after spending some time together, both Kapu and Dean had concluded that the technique-oriented Krav Maga wasn't suitable for the powerful Dean, so Kapu had recommended Ancient Muay Thai instead.

However, they had gotten along well. And Kapu's identity wasn't as simple as it appeared. So when Dean wanted to inquire about his own mentor's situation, Kapu was the first person he thought of. As for why he didn't approach Amon, who was now an NSA director and with whom he had cooperated several times, Dean subconsciously didn't want to get too entangled with Amon after his change in status. Human hearts can change easily. Dean preferred interacting with middle-aged men like Kapu, who had a wife and children. Such men had vulnerabilities, were easier to manage, and wouldn't readily do things that could lead to misunderstandings.

The phone connected. Kapu, seemingly having just finished exercising, panted, "Wow, isn't this our Los Angeles' rising star, Detective Dean? Good afternoon, buddy. You haven't been to the fighting gym for a few days."

"Kapu, I've been leading a team recently and have been tight on time," Dean said. "But if you're free now, we could go for a drink and catch up."

Kapu must have been optimistic about Dean's future, as he readily agreed to meet.

「At a quiet bar.」

Amidst the slow rhythm of country folk music, Dean put down his glass, wiped his mouth, and said casually, as if it were an afterthought, "Kapu, I need to take a two-week vacation soon and I'm planning to visit the Commonwealth for some fun. Anything I should be mindful of?"

"That place is nice," Kapu said. "As for things to watch out for..." He glanced at Dean's handsome features and smirked. "Do you know what industry is most developed in the European region?"

"Buddy, the way you're looking at me is making me uncomfortable," Dean said, feigning anger even though he knew the answer, wanting to steer the conversation. "Besides, I'm going there for leisure, not to make money. If you keep looking at me like I'm a gigolo, I'll crush your balls!"

Seeing Dean clench his fist, which was as large as a sandbag, Kapu quickly raised his hands in surrender. "Alright, alright, it's human trafficking. Every year in the Commonwealth, Gaul, and other such places, many foreign tourists go missing—beautiful young girls, and plenty of handsome guys too. In the underworld, it's a recognized industry. Many prominent public figures are involved, so they're extremely bold. They even dare to target the children of some wealthy individuals. If you don't want trouble, it's best to avoid fooling around when you're out and about."
