Carlotta's Daily Report

Chapter 200: Everyone is good person

The old man, White Goat, had an unknown true identity.

The middle-aged man, Guy Nicholson, was a well-known powerhouse.

The young man called himself Azure Fox, with an unknown true identity.

The young woman called herself Night Cat, with an unknown true identity.

All four of them were Weavers, not traveling together, but after arriving on this floor, they deeply felt the difficulty of this floor's existence, so they stayed, intending to form a team to explore further.

Three of the four were very cautious, using false appearances to hide their identities. Only Guy Nicholson used his true identity.

At this moment, the four of them were looking at Carlotta, waiting for her answer.

Carlotta's expression couldn't help but be a bit strange.

She wasn't a Weaver.

But because she used the Concealer Ring to hide her rank, coupled with her daring to reach the 151st floor, it seemed to cause some misunderstandings.

However, it wasn't entirely a misunderstanding; she could indeed do what Weavers could do.

Thinking of this, Carlotta said, "My name is Rose."

Clearly, a codename.

But the others didn't care that she used a codename; only Guy snorted.

Carlotta glanced at Guy and asked, "Sir, are you the Marquis Nicholson of the Velmoria Empire?"

"That would be me."

Guy admitted it openly.

He didn't hide his identity, and appeared straightforward.

Carlotta said, "The Velmoria Empire is in a state of war, fiercely battling the Wendell Empire. At such a time, does Your Excellency have leisure to come to the Tower of Babel?"

Guy said indifferently, "The Tower of Babel is a place of great treasure. Why can't I come? It's not just me; others, either openly or secretly, will naturally come. I don't know how many familiar figures I've seen."

"Then why doesn't Your Excellency join forces with others from the Velmoria Empire?"

Carlotta asked again.

Guy shook his head, "Even within an empire, there are political rivals. I'd rather form a team with strangers."

The other three "strangers" glanced at Guy.

White Goat smiled and said, "Is Miss Rose worried that Mr. Guy has some ulterior motive? Please don't worry about such things, Miss Rose. Before you arrived, we had already confirmed each other's trustworthiness to a certain extent."

He asked Carlotta again if she was willing to cooperate with everyone to explore the subsequent tower floors.

Carlotta didn't answer. Instead, she said, "You say you can trust each other, but where does this trust come from? Of the five people, four are hiding their identities. No matter how you look at it, it's hard to feel at ease, isn't it?"

White Goat faintly smiled at this, saying, "I think everyone can trust each other, not because I know much about everyone, but because I have a way to make everyone trust each other even if they don't, and can only help each other without being able to oppose each other."

Carlotta looked at the others; no one showed any unusual expressions, indicating that everyone knew about White Goat's so-called method.

Without waiting for Carlotta to ask, White Goat took out a yellowed parchment... perhaps not parchment, but this leather-like paper exuded a deep, mysterious feeling.

White Goat spoke first, "Many, many years ago, someone obtained an artifact from the Sky Island ranking rewards called the Absolute Contract. Any contract made on the Absolute Contract cannot be violated by anyone, not even Weavers. For a long time, the Absolute Contract has been considered as a symbol of justice, the best bridge for facilitating cooperation."

He understood, indicating that this Absolute Contract had circulated through many hands and eventually fell into him.

"Sign the contract on it, and we can trust and support each other."

White Goat opened the Absolute Contract, allowing Carlotta to see its contents.

The Absolute Contract stated that everyone's cooperation was for the purpose of exploring the subsequent floors of the Tower of Babel, and its effect was limited to within the Tower of Babel. Once outside the Tower of Babel, the contract will end.

During this process, the five people must help each other, not scheme against each other, and not even inquire about each other's past identities and secrets, and cooperate with the most serious attitude.

Generally speaking, there was nothing wrong with this contract. Carlotta looked at it twice and felt it was acceptable.

However, she was a cautious person. It was almost midnight, and she planned to review the intelligence first.

Previously, on the 137th floor, she had spent a considerable amount of time in the special area experiencing mana assimilation. Many people who came after her had already reached that floor, and almost an entire day had passed.

Now, only a few minutes remain until midnight.

Carlotta pondered for a moment and said, "This contract, with its restraints only within the Tower of Babel, seems good, but the scope is still too broad. I ask you, within the Tower of Babel, how many floors do you intend to reach?"

White Goat replied, "We'll go as many floors as we can. From the 151st floor up to the 200th floor, these are all floors where Weavers can reach. After that, I'm afraid we won't be able to reach such high floors."

He sighed, not only because the higher the floor, the more terrifying the monsters, but also because the entrance passages were difficult to find.

"I see. Then, if there's a chance to reach beyond the 200th floor, would you like to take a look up there?"

Carlotta asked with a smile.

"If there's an opportunity, it's naturally not to be missed."

White Goat chuckled.

In fact, beyond the 200th floor, based on past experience, there were different rules compared to the previous floors.

Beyond the 200th floor, each floor didn't follow the previous pattern; there wouldn't be large numbers of Exalted monsters, but rather monsters ranging from apprentice-level to extremely terrifying ones could appear.

The floors beyond that were each more complex, and some were floors even barren, with nothing at all.

Why this was the case, people didn't know. No one had explored 100% of the clues regarding a place like the Tower of Babel.

But one thing was certain: above the 200th floor, Weavers could continue exploring without worrying about safety issues.

The only problem, instead, was whether they could find the route.

Carlotta wasn't particularly eager to explore beyond the 200th floor; she was simply asking various questions to stall for time, appearing to be considering carefully.

As she spoke, she waited until arrived, then silently opened her intelligence midnight panel and looked at the contents.

[ 1: Guy Nicholson's identity is fake. He is actually an Earl of the Velmoria Empire named Toby Diamond, a political rival of Guy Nicholson.]

When Carlotta saw the first piece of information, she wanted to laugh.

Carlotta really hadn't expected that Guy Nicholson, who seemed the most straightforward, was actually an imposter.

She had wondered why someone who had reached the height of a Weaver would be so direct and unmasked. So, was it all a fake identity?

Sometimes, when people are speechless, they are truly speechless.

However, Carlotta saw no need to expose the other party and continued to read the subsequent intelligence.

[ 2: White Goat is the ninth most wanted criminal on the Bass Archipelago' wanted list, named Menon Bronson.]

Carlotta hesitated, then glanced at White Goat.

White Goat exclaimed and said, "How about it, Miss Rose? What do you think? Should we cooperate?"

"Wait a moment."

Carlotta rubbed her temples.

No wonder this guy called himself White Goat; he was next to Black Goat. This guy was no good.

[ 3: Azure Fox's identity is Wesley Ackerman, the main person in charge of the Brandon Kingdom's permanent presence on the Bass Archipelago.]

Carlotta glanced at Azure Fox.

This was a legitimate official, but did he know he was cooperating with a wanted criminal?

Carlotta felt that the intelligence was going to expose everyone's identities.

She looked at the next piece of intelligence, and as expected.

[ 4: Night Cat's identity is a feline beastkin from the Southern Continent, who participated in the riot on Island No. 4 with the beastkin Priest Rodrigo, committing numerous killings. Her true name is Arianna.]

Beastkin does not have surnames, only names.

Carlotta hadn't expected the seemingly cute young girl Night Cat to be a beastkin, which made her feel strange inside.

Why was the composition of this team so odd?

[ 5: The Absolute Contract brought by White Goat is indeed effective, and there are currently no traps.]

Seeing the last piece of intelligence, Carlotta felt somewhat relieved.

It seemed that White Goat truly wanted to cooperate in exploring the subsequent tower levels.

Carlotta gradually understood. Was everyone hiding their identities exactly to avoid having to become enemies due to conflicting stances? As long as identities were well-hidden, no matter who the other party was, cooperating wouldn't invite any criticism.

Carlotta retracted her thoughts and said, "I am willing to cooperate, but I want to make some changes to the contents of the Absolute Contract."

White Goat asked, "What do you want to change?"

If it was just minor changes, he and the others naturally wouldn't have any objections.

Carlotta immediately proposed some small changes. The alterations weren't too significant; they just allowed her to avoid being too passive in some unexpected situations.

For example, if a companion's identity were exposed and they were besieged due to identity issues, she would have the right not to participate, as it would be a grudge from outside the Tower of Babel brought in.

Carlotta's amendment made the four people exchange glances, and then they agreed.

White Goat exclaimed, "Miss Rose is truly cautious. But in fact, how could we be bad people?"

Carlotta glanced at this guy, who was ninth on the wanted list. He was ninth on the wanted list and claimed he wasn't a bad person?

Night Cat said, "It's always good to be cautious. Although we haven't done anything evil, it's fine if our identities are exposed."

Carlotta's mouth twitched slightly.

"Haven't done anything evil," and "it's fine if our identities are exposed." If this beastkin's identity were truly exposed, she would probably be besieged.

In comparison, the identities of the other two... well, weren't they also not so normal?

There was no need to mention Guy Nicholson; he was an imposter of a political enemy, clearly problematic.

And the only one who seemed normal, Azure Fox... Carlotta felt his real name sounded a bit familiar. After thinking carefully, she remembered.

After the Sky Island incident, a coup d'état occurred in the Brandon Kingdom. A new queen ascended the throne, and the former king abdicated.

Azure Fox was dispatched to the Bass Archipelago by the former king and was only close to the former king. Now, because Azure Fox ignored the new queen, it was rumored that there was a possibility of him being targeted by the Brandon Kingdom as a traitor.

'They're all problematic individuals,' Carlotta exclaimed.

Of course, she wouldn't dislike them, because she herself was a problematic individual.

After revising the Absolute Contract and confirming there were no major issues, Carlotta planned to sign it with everyone.

When signing, using pseudonyms would suffice; it will still be effective.

However, at the very end, Carlotta had a thought and added some content, making the signed content point towards Weavers.

In other words, only those of Weaver rank will be obliged to abide by the contents of the Absolute Contract. Once they were not Weavers, they would not be bound.

Carlotta did not directly mention this point but used a roundabout way to lead to this result, so no one noticed any problems. The main reason was that no one would have thought that Carlotta would not be a Weaver!

"By the way, you arrived here earlier. Do you know the situation of the other teams?" Carlotta asked.

White Goat shook his head and said, "We don't know. If other teams had formed, how would we dare to approach rashly before we had formed?"

The others nodded in agreement.

Azure Fox smiled and said, "But now we don't have to worry. Even if we encounter other teams, we can challenge them."

Normally, a team consists of five people.

This was a long-standing custom. If there were more than five people, various problems persisted to arise, and too few wouldn't work either, as it would lack competitiveness. Over time, this became a custom.

"Then let's move," Carlotta said.

Guy nodded and said, "Since you are all Weavers, you probably don't care much about money. We don't need to hunt Weaver monsters and sell their materials. Let's aim to reach higher levels. At higher levels, there might be opportunities for us to transform."

Carlotta glanced at Guy. Although this guy was an imposter, she would temporarily refer to him as Guy.

Then Carlotta looked at her two maps. The entrance to the next level was shown, and valuable items on this level were also marked.

"Which direction do you all think we should go first?" Night Cat asked with a sweet smile.

Carlotta decisively headed in one direction: "Wherever I go, that should be the correct path. There's no need to hesitate on such matters."

"What spirit," White Goat gave Carlotta a thumbs-up.

Since Carlotta had made her choice, the others naturally followed without hesitation.

This direction was not the location of the entrance; there were just some valuable herbs there, and Carlotta intended to pick some. As for whether this would benefit the few people around her, she wasn't worried.

She had a use for these people; she chose to cooperate for a reason.
