Damned Healer

Chapter 330: Little More Seriously

He turned as the door opened, revealing Awel, who walked in calmly.

"Brother Darian, all those born of the wind element have already mastered every technique perfectly. I guarantee we can pull it off now."

"Good, you'll be essential," he replied with satisfaction, before asking, "Did those idiots make a move?"

Awel nodded. "Yes, Sister Frezyn delivered the news, and she just confirmed that they're getting ready too."

Frezyn was the Fiendgod who had become the leader of that city. After a year, she had really reached level 4, surpassing the previous leader, and turned into a decent ruler. Later, she personally came to their city, kneeling at the entrance for several days, asking forgiveness for her race.

Darian didn't care much, so she ended up becoming a hidden ally.

It was a smart move, because all the assassins and thieves had started an intense war against the City of the Heavenly Elemental Spirits. Frezyn kept their relationship secret, still being considered an enemy.

That way, since her city was nearby, she "sold information" to the enemies, while Darian pulled all the strings.

He even made it look like they lost some battles, with the little ones fleeing quickly, pretending to be caught off guard thanks to the supposed intel Frezyn had leaked. This way, he kept those idiots confident they could someday beat them.

They were ridiculously numerous, mainly because they were a union of bastards from both sides of the desert. Even so, in those two years, Darian and his little soldiers managed to wipe out half of them—all the ones from the Yin desert.

Now, by spreading the news that they'd attack the Millennial Abscess, Darian had already predicted the next move: those idiots would see it as the perfect opportunity.

They'd wait for the battle to start—right at the border between the two deserts—and then join in to ambush them from behind. To pull it off, they'd need to bring every ally possible.

In short, Darian intended to completely eradicate those people. It wasn't about the points—after hitting a thousand, no one could get more anyway. Still, he wanted to do the desert a favor by destroying them.

Of course, Darian wasn't arrogant enough to think of himself as the smartest guy alive with everyone else being fools in comparison. He knew unexpected variables could happen, but he was preparing for everything—that was one of the reasons it had taken two years.

Darian turned to Awel and noticed her thoughtful gaze. He didn't even need to ask what she was thinking.

"We won't need this city anymore. Tell Tir to gather all the ore and resources we've stashed here, then head to the Fiendgod city to strengthen them. He and his legion should be able to handle it in a day."

"As for Eleri… she's probably all hyped up and causing trouble again. Tell her I asked her to organize the stock of life potions. Everyone in the army should carry at least three. That should keep her busy."

Awel nodded lightly. Having spent so much time by Darian's side, she had learned as much as she could from him, becoming his vice-commander and helping with everything. Little by little, her innocence and lack of wisdom were fading.

As for Darian… those three were no longer just temporary allies. He had grown attached to their purity and couldn't help but see them as his little siblings. He already knew them deeply and understood well what each one thought.

Seeing that Awel still hadn't left, and noticing her look, Darian snorted. "Go. Later, I can tell you more about where I came from. I don't know why it interests you so much, but now's not the time."

She smiled broadly. "Brother promised, so don't forget." Then she spoke and turned away, leaving with a gentle breeze of wind at her back.

***

Three days went by quickly. When Darian stepped out of the building, he saw the whole city looked like it had been looted by thieves.

All the high-level materials used in the constructions had been stripped and moved to the Fiendgod city. Even the powerful walls had been dismantled, leaving only fragile, simple barriers.

As he took his first steps, thousands of bright eyes turned toward him.

Darian looked at his army of little warriors and sighed. It was strange seeing them all looking like very young humans.

At first, some had chosen metamorphoses similar to other races, but in the end, they all changed to look more like Darian.

Practically 99% of them had green hair and red eyes, split almost evenly between boys and girls. Luckily, Awel, Tir, and Eleri preferred to keep the forms he had first met them in.

Among them all, there was only one who looked more adult, and he stepped forward to face Darian.

"Sir!" he said, bowing politely.

It was Eldu, whose real body was now a saber, no longer the conventional rune of their race. He had already lived nearly 250 years, so he wasn't naive or innocent at all. That's why he was such a huge help to Darian in looking after the others.

He and the other weapons, who had also been restored, could still use their elements and fight through metamorphosis. They had big limitations, since 70% of their elemental power stayed locked within the weapon, needing someone to release it for them, which held them back a lot. Still, they had joined the army and could be useful.

"Let's go," Darian said calmly, leading the army out of the city.

In the vast desert, he waved his hand, and more than three thousand little runes floated above them, like tiny stars. They were all the Heavenly Elemental Spirits born of wind.

Darian transferred a bit of the ring's power to them. Then the runes glowed, and a greenish aura covered everyone below.

*Whoosh!*

With a strong gust of wind, they were all moved at high speed in a single direction: the southern border between the Yin desert and the Yang desert.

That world was immense, and the desert was even more vast. Even moving at incredible speed, it still took about an hour to arrive.

When they got there, everyone turned to face forward and saw a reddish world.

It was like gazing at a scarlet city. The entire environment reeked of iron, and the climate was insanely dry, dark, and oppressive.

In the past, that place had once been a massive, powerful city inhabited by primordial beasts. But there had been a huge war between them and two other forces, and the absurd number of deaths that piled up there gave birth to something terrifying. At first, it was just a simple Abscess.

Back then, large-scale conflicts broke out all the time, and though rare, it wasn't impossible for one of those to be born. When it first appeared, no one was too alarmed. At the time, it was common to have two or three spread across the desert.

Eventually someone would kill it—or so everyone believed. But now, here they were, standing before the terrifying, unbeatable Millennial Abscess.

Darian waved at everyone behind him. In an instant, they split into three large armies.

Then… with a faint grin, he turned toward the small wind runes still floating above the army.

*Woooosh!!*

Everyone moved again—but this time, not toward the city of the Millennial Abscess.

...

A few kilometers away, a massive army of more than thirty thousand soldiers, from all sorts of races, was waiting hidden between two gigantic sand dunes.

Around them, nearly a thousand members of an ancient beast race—the Kun Peng—stood guard. They formed a circle around the army.

That race had a natural ability to control space. Using their inherited bloodline powers, they twisted space itself to completely conceal the army. Obviously, it was impossible for anyone to see or sense anything unless they got really close to the area.

Everyone waited patiently.

They knew those hated enemies would attack the terrifying Abscess, and they were waiting for the perfect moment—when the battle had already started—to strike them from behind.

But then…

"!"

Out of nowhere, an army of just nine thousand appeared, completely surrounding them. Floating above, a single humanoid figure immediately stood out. On his face, there was a cold, malicious smile.

He subtly waved his hand.

**CRACK!!**

All the spatial power concentrated there shattered out of control, like glass breaking apart.

The Kun Peng roared, suffering a horrifying backlash—almost all of them instantly exploded into a mist of blood.

At Darian's side, a small girl wrapped in the power of the winds roared: "Wipe out those filthy bastards!"

"DIE!!"

All the little ones below roared together, and the desert's colors completely changed. The scene was drowned in blue, light green, and yellow.

Eleri leapt forward, charging straight toward the center of the enemy army. Her sword sliced through the skies, and a massive blade of water formed, stretching ten meters long before crashing down like a devastating wave.

"DEFEND US!!" a loud voice suddenly echoed across the battlefield.

In that instant, a lone figure jumped forward to intercept the overwhelming strike.

*BOOM!*

With an explosion of water scattering in every direction, Eleri was thrown backward.

That figure looked ready to unleash another attack—but right at that moment, a blade of wind cut toward him, making his spine go cold.

With a roar, he countered the wind slash, blowing it apart. Even so, he was forced to gather a ton of power to resist it, which clearly surprised him.

Darian narrowed his eyes at the figure in the sky. It was a man—a hybrid beast mixed with Chromaraic blood. He looked humanoid, with multicolored hair, but his body was covered in scales, wings, and sharp claws. And on top of that… he radiated an absurd aura of power.

He definitely wasn't just some thief or assassin.

This was a mercenary they had hired. No doubt, the son of someone who came from the later stages of the Trial.

Darian had already expected something like this. He knew of more than five such figures roaming the desert, causing trouble wherever they went.

He'd never had conflicts with them and always avoided meaningless fights. But… he had also figured that, with enough payment, people on that level could be brought in to deal with them.

The man scoffed. He hadn't expected the two blocked strikes to be that strong. He was clearly surprised, but not afraid—he just realized he'd have to fight a little more seriously.

With a dark grin, he looked forward and growled: "Disappear!"

*Slash!*

He attacked without hesitation, his claws tearing forward and creating a five-meter-long gash in space itself.

"Block it together!" Tir shouted. At his command, all the ones born from the earth element moved in perfect sync.

*RUMBLE!*

An explosion of sand and dust burst out in every direction. At the same time, Tir and his whole legion staggered back with pale faces. If they were real humans, they'd be coughing up a mouthful of blood right now.

He was strong. Way too strong.
