Cybernetic Evolution System

Chapter 113: The Inexhaustible Quest (2)

"I also can't afford to remain here," Gregor responded, sighing defeatedly. "I've reached a critical stage in my understanding of my clan's technique and believe that I could break through to the next level at any time."

Sensing the gaze of everyone on him, Draven snorted, "I've spent a huge amount of merit points renting one of the training facilities. Staying here for this long is already the best I can do."

"Well, someone needs to continue staying here and keep watch in case he emerges or someone else completes the quest," Sylas said with a frown.

"How about we leave this for Hale?" Julia responded. "Since he didn't make it during this important meeting, he shouldn't have any problems staying here till noon or through the night to help us keep watch."

"I agree. We can't be the ones doing the most work while he waits for the results," Gregor added in agreement.

Sylas nodded, "I'll send a message to him to inform him of today's results and the change of plans. However, just in case, let's wait a few more hours before we leave."

From his perspective, the sooner this issue was handled, the better; otherwise, they would not hesitate to drift away from the alliance, as none of them could risk being caught by the Disciplinary Committee.

He glanced at the Class Three Dungeon Service nurses seated in the distance.

Even discussing this issue openly among themselves was already risky.

He could only hope they caught the culprit on time.

Otherwise, all of his hard work would have been for nought.

The group hesitated before nodding.

**

Three hours later

After waiting for several hours and seeing no one else walking out of the Dungeon Hall, the group stood up one by one to leave.

But just as they were about to exit through the door, they halted.

Their expressions shifted into surprise.

At that moment, a familiar figure stepped out from one of the doors beside a robotic receptionist.

Ezekiel Zahara.

They remained in their positions, observing as he arrived before the robotic receptionist area.

A black holographic curtain enveloped his figure.

After a minute, the curtain vanished.

Ezekiel walked toward them.

He arrived before them, nodding only at Julia.

Julia responded with a silent nod.

Ezekiel strode past them.

Though Draven and the others felt insulted by his dismissive attitude, they didn't mind, because there was only one thing running through their minds at the moment.

As he walked out the door-

Swoosh!!

Sylas dashed forward without hesitation.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

The others followed suit behind him.

They didn't pay attention to anyone else observing them.

The only one who did was Laden, who calmly followed them from behind.

"Welcome to the Dungeon Hall, Student Sylas, Student Draven, Student Julia, Student Gregor, and Student Laden. How may I help you?" the robotic receptionist said.

"We want to take a quest," Sylas responded, his tone impatient.

"Request accepted. You are eligible for the following quest," the robot replied, waving its right robotic hand over its desk.

Instantly, a holographic list appeared before Sylas and the others.

Sylas scrolled down to the last fifteen quests, also known as the high-tier quests.

48. Collect the antlers of a Flaming River Deer. 360 merit points.

(Please note that the condition of the antlers will be taken into account before payment.) (Completed - Not turned in. Soon to be refreshed.)

It was completed but hadn't been turned in.

Instantly, Sylas's expression shifted into surprise.

Sensing the others' impatience, he moved to the side, allowing them to see the quest list.

Their expressions quickly shifted from astonishment to confusion.

They couldn't understand why Ezekiel hadn't turned in the quest.

Silence enveloped their surroundings.

"Which quests did he turn in, then?" Draven asked, his voice cutting through the silence.

"My guess is this one," Sylas scrolled through to the top of the list and pointed at the top quest:

1. Eliminate five Goblins: 30 merit points. Additional merit points will be awarded for each additional Goblin eliminated. (Completed - Soon to be refreshed.)

"It's completed," Sylas said, his voice almost a whisper.

Draven fell silent.

The others also fell silent after reading the quest.

"Hey, am I seeing this correctly?" Gregor asked, gulping, his voice breaking through the silence.

However, no one responded.

"Has there ever been a scenario in which the goblin quest has been completed by one person?" Julia asked after a brief hesitation.

"What do you think?" Sylas retorted.

Although the first few quests didn't provide as many merit points as the mid and later quests, one thing they shared in common with all others, regardless of how difficult or simple they were, was their inexhaustibility.

Quests that provided additional rewards for eliminating a beast were always like that.

But the number one quest was the most inexhaustible.

Goblins.

They reproduced rapidly, expanding from tens to several hundreds, even thousands, within a few weeks if not properly handled.

And most of all, they were scattered across the dungeon zones, serving both as inexhaustible merit points for the students and as meals for the numerous magical beasts in the dungeon.

Although the goblins were weak, they were magical beasts, and were terrifying opponents that swarm their prey with their numbers; therefore, not one of them could confidently declare that they could eliminate entire goblin camps to the point of completing the inexhaustible quest.

The only way to accomplish it was to conduct a coordinated campaign with several top-rankers sweeping through the dungeons.

Yet, one person had managed to pull it off alone.

How was that even possible?

Has Ezekiel Zahara become that strong?

No! That was impossible!

"Are you sure that it's not broken?" Laden questioned.

Yes! That was most likely the case.

They all couldn't help but assume the same thing.

Otherwise, they couldn't reason how such a feat was possible.

"I'll go and inform the repairmen that the quest list is broken. You guys wait here and keep watch," Sylas nodded. He turned to the side, his eyes lighting up as they landed on the Dungeon Services Nurses.
