There wasn't much that was inside of this room.
In fact, it seemed like this room had been created to hold one thing and one thing only.
There was a single pedestal that was in the center of the room and this was where that sensation of death was coming from.
When I looked at it closely, it didn't seem like there was anything special that was on this pedestal.
In fact, it seemed like the thing that was there was something that had been left there casually since there was nothing that was protecting it. In fact, there wasn't even anything on the pedestal for this thing to be on.
It really didn't feel like this was anything special with the condition that they left this thing in.
But it was easy to tell that this was something special.
Not just because of the aura that it released, but also because of the array that was on the door.
There was no way that they would use that kind of array to seal something like this if it was normal.
However, it wasn't as if I could tell what this thing was just by looking at it.
Even the aura alone wasn't enough to give me a clue.
It simply wasn't triggering any of the memories that I had from my past life.
That was why I pulled the soul of the necromancer from the Undead Society over and asked, "What is this thing?"
Even though he was in soul form, it seemed like he was trembling in the presence of this thing.
Based on its appearance, it looked like it was a bone finger. But how could a bone finger be releasing this kind of aura?
Since the soul didn't seem like it was going to say anything, the only thing that I could do was use my mana and will to force him to speak in the end.
"I don't know what it is either." That was the first thing that this soul said after I forced it to speak.
If I didn't know better, then I would have thought it was simply messing with me.
However, I knew that it was actually telling the truth.
It wasn't as if this soul would know anything just because it was wearing a different cloak. It might have been the leader of this outpost, but this thing was clearly more than just something that a leader of this outpost should know.
This should have been something that the leaders of the Undead Society left in this place for protection.
If the leader of an outpost like this could actually put this kind of array on this door, then he wouldn't have been assigned to a place like this.
But since I still needed more information…
In the end, squeezing the soul a bit more did get some more information out of him, "I remember something that they said before. They called it a finger of something called the Immortal King. That is all I remember."
I couldn't help taking a cold breath, even though I didn't need to breathe when I heard this.
After all, the Immortal King was a title that I recognized.
"Are you certain that it was the Immortal King?"
I put as much pressure as I could on the soul as I asked this.
The soul once again trembled when he heard this and it seemed like he couldn't understand why I was acting this way. But since I was acting this way, it wasn't as if there was anything that he could do when I was pressuring him like this.
So in the end…
"Yes, I'm certain that it was the Immortal King!" The soul said in a terrified voice.
I didn't bother looking at the soul anymore after hearing this.
Instead, I turned to look back at the finger bone on the pedestal and looked at it very carefully to see if I could find anything special about it. However, there really wasn't anything that I could see other than the aura of death that it released.
But since I knew that this was a finger bone from the one known as the Immortal King, it made sense that it would release this kind of aura.
After all, the Immortal King was a legend when it came to necromancers.
The Immortal King was a famous necromancer who had turned himself into a lich a long time ago. He was known as the Immortal King because he was so powerful that he was a king among the undead.
It had reached a point where he had been on the same level as the hero and the demon king.
That was the level of danger that he had presented to the continent.
But in the end, people found a way to deal with the disasters that they faced and the Immortal King wasn't an exception to the rule. The Immortal King was eventually brought down by a coalition between the races of the continent led by the humans.
Still, there was no denying the power and the influence that this Immortal King once had.
Since this was a finger bone from the Immortal King, there was also no doubting the power that it possessed.
It was no wonder the Undead Society had put this kind of protection around this thing.
"Since it's in front of me, I should take it."
That was the conclusion that I reached in the end.
However, there was one problem…
"How am I supposed to take this?"
The aura of death that came from this finger bone was powerful, it was hard even for me to come close to it with how powerful that aura was.
As such, I didn't feel like I would be able to take it that easily.
I would have asked the soul, but it was clear that he didn't know anything else about this finger bone and it would have just wasted more time.
So in the end, I decided to take a risk.
