Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 208: In Great Disorder

Chu Mo really couldn't be bothered with this boastful rooster. He rolled his eyes, mused for a moment, and decided he didn't want to miss this opportunity. He thought: if that little guy comes after us again, why not adopt it?

Afterward, Chu Mo and the rooster continued on their journey. They had now entered the great Qi territory, and all they saw was a vast expanse of wilderness. The orange-red sunset hung at the horizon, dusk was setting in.

But neither of them had any intention of stopping as they headed towards the capital of Great Qi.

Three days later, Chu Mo and the rooster finally arrived at the first town after entering Great Qi.

This was an ancient town, not large but with beautiful scenery. It was filled with a quaint charm everywhere, and the people on the streets all looked calm, leading a tranquil life.

Chu Mo found an inn and settled in. The rooster returned to its normal size and stayed by Chu Mo's side. The prideful and heroic look attracted quite a bit of attention, but most people took the rooster to be Chu Mo's pet. Although it was rare to see a rooster as a pet, no one was too surprised, some just gave it extra glances.

That night, Chu Mo ordered some food and had it delivered to his room.

The rooster didn't show any interest in human food, but it was rather fond of wine.

Chu Mo poured it a basin, and in no time at all, the rooster finished all the wine in it. Looking slightly inebriated, it asked Chu Mo, "Kid, how many years are you planning to stay in the Mortal Realm?"

Chu Mo ruefully responded, "That's not up to how many years I want to stay in this world, but when my abilities reach the standard to break through to the Heavenly Realm, right?"

The rooster sneered, "Break through? Reaching the peak of the Innate realm is too easy. With your current pace, it will only take three to five years at most."

"It can't be that easy," Chu Mo drank a glass of wine and said, "I do want to reach that realm quickly, but it takes one step at a time."

The rooster blinked and said, "Let me tell you, the elixir refined from the Chaos furnace is the most perfect elixir in the world! I have a formula here that can easily break through to the Innate Realm after taking it."

Chu Mo glanced at the somewhat drunk rooster and shook his head, "I'm not interested in that kind of advancement."

"Short-sighted!" The rooster shook its head, "Do you know? In the Heavenly Realm, the Innate Realm is experienced by children between three to five years old. They start taking medicine at a young age, skipping all the previous processes directly."

"An advancement without foundation, what's the point even if it reaches that realm?" said Chu Mo.

The rooster refuted, "That's your limitation! You don't understand that when your realm reaches a certain level, the so-called foundation is not that important!"

Chu Mo scoffed, "Then why have you been stuck in the human world for so many years? With your abilities, wouldn't it be simpler to ascend?"

"That's different!" The rooster said rather dejectedly, "I've been deceiving you, actually."

"Huh?" Chu Mo looked at the rooster.

The rooster confessed, "I've lost the ability to break through and ascend. When I fell from the Heavenly Realm, it wasn't a normal fall, I was plotted against by my enemies... Let's not talk about it, it's pointless! Kid, pour me some wine; I'm going to get drunk tonight!"

Instead of pouring wine for the rooster, Chu Mo asked, "What can I do to help you?"

"You want to help me?" The rooster looked at Chu Mo in a drunken stupor, then wobbled its head, "quite simple, just lend the Sobbing Sparrow Mirror and Chaos Furnace to me …"

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Chu Mo rolled his eyes.

The rooster muttered, "So you see… You can't help me. But, one day you should be able to."

"The day I reach the Heavenly Realm?" Chu Mo asked.

"No, when I find the Pool of Reincarnation, I will really need your help." The rooster, seeing Chu Mo not pouring it any wine, took matters into its own wing, pouring wine into its basin.

Chu Mo fell silent for a moment, "Eating the Fortune Fish… can it really change your constitution? Awaken your phoenix bloodline?"

The rooster took a sip of wine and fell silent for a while, "It's always a chance."

Chu Mo listened and chose not to ask anything more. The rooster was full of secrets. It managed to hide them well most of the time, but having spent so much time together, Chu Mo could feel it.

But then again, who doesn't have some secrets?

Suddenly, there was a faint scratching sound at the door.

Although the sound was light, both Chu Mo and the rooster heard it clearly.

Chu Mo and the rooster exchanged a glance, then Chu Mo stood up, walked over and opened the door.

"Woof!"

A crisp bark, full of endless grievances, rang out suddenly.

Then a little shiba inu threw itself at Chu Mo's feet, rubbing against his legs.

Chu Mo was taken aback as he stared at the little dog, his mouth twitched, "It really found us …"

The rooster was also stunned. Although it stated dogs have the best sense of smell, especially a ninth-grade Primordial Beast, it could always find a person if it wanted to. But who'd have thought, this little creature was so persistent.

Both he and Chu Mo thought that after so many days, the little guy must have given up. Who would have expected it to actually come to their door.

Even the inn staff didn't notice a dog slipping in.

It wasn't until the barking echoed, a waiter stuck his head out and glanced over.

Chu Mo waved his hand, "Sorry, my dog is a little noisy."

The waiter immediately withdrew his head and muttered, "Can't understand the world of rich people, chickens and dogs...Do they want to disturb the peace or create a mess?"

"…" Chu Mo was speechless.

The slightly inebriated rooster, on the other hand, looked incensed and was ready to pick a fight with the waiter. Chu Mo had to hold it back.

Next, Chu Mo looked at the dirty shiba inu and asked with a bitter smile, "Why are you so persistent? Why insist on me?"

"Woof, woof!" The little shiba inu's eyes were full of grievances. It then bared its teeth at the drunk rooster, giving off threatening sounds.

Apparently, even though its power and memories were sealed, its intelligence remained. It blamed the rooster for its suffering.

"Challenging me?" The rooster scoffed and revealed a little of its powerful aura.

"Whimper…" The little shiba inu immediately trembled, huddling beside Chu Mo's leg, but the gaze towards the rooster was filled with anger.

Chu Mo looked at the rooster and sighed, "You're not really planning to create a ruckus here, right?"

The rooster simply rolled its eyes and ignored Chu Mo. (To be continued. If you like this work, please recommend votes and monthly votes on Qidian (qidian.com). Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users please visit m.qidian.com to read.)
