The innkeeper rapped nervously on the door of the young cultivator's room, "Honored guest... Are you there?"
Inside the room, Chu Mo slowly opened his eyes and asked in a deep voice, "What is it?"
"Well, it's… It's like this." The innkeeper stammered out the sequence of events and then said with a wry smile, "I really had no choice, so I shamelessly came to ask for your help."
"Oh, so the people who came to threaten you are descendants of the Ancestor of Dan God Emperor?" Chu Mo asked.
"Yes, they are the subordinates sent by the descendants of the Dan God Emperor… It's not really a threat, I guess, as we've become accustomed to it, that's just how they've always been." The innkeeper said with a bitter smile, "After all, this is Divine Pill City, where the Dan God Emperor himself rose to power. Those in control here are all his descendants; we insignificant folks have no say whatsoever. We simply dare not defy them…"
"The courtyard I reside in is secluded and isn't the best accommodation available," Chu Mo spoke solemnly. "Here's what we'll do: I'll give you a top-grade Heavenly Crystal. You can just clear out the others. When the time comes that I must leave, I will leave naturally."
Before the innkeeper had a chance to speak, he suddenly felt a slight weight in his hand as a crystal clear, completely pure crystal stone appeared out of nowhere. He looked at it once and was immediately startled, his mouth hanging open unable to close.
He had never expected this guest to actually give him a top-grade Heavenly Crystal!
Such a Heavenly Crystal, not to mention staying here, would be more than enough to buy his entire inn—even half would be unnecessary!
"How… How should I handle this!" The innkeeper held the top-grade Heavenly Crystal as though it were a hot potato.
"That settles it then, don't speak of this matter to anyone. And rest assured, I will not cause any trouble for you," Chu Mo's voice came from inside the room. "Even if some high-ranking figure does come, they certainly wouldn't stay at an inn of your caliber. Not even their entourage would likely visit. This is just a formality on their part. Don't you think?"
Thinking it over, the innkeeper felt that this made a lot of sense. He knew the standard of his inn all too well. Although it could hardly be considered poor, it certainly wasn't among the best in Divine Pill City. Indeed, a person of great importance would not choose to stay there.
With this realization, the innkeeper felt much more at ease and nodded his agreement, "Then… then I will give it a try."
With mixed feelings of joy and worry, the innkeeper left.
A top-grade Heavenly Crystal could possibly take him many years to earn. He could not honestly claim he didn't want it; it was just terribly hot to the touch. If the descendants of the Dan God Emperor discovered it, he would probably be in too much trouble to escape.
With these apprehensive thoughts, the innkeeper met the young man again in the evening.
"How did it go?" the young man asked coldly.
Steeling his heart, the innkeeper no longer had an exit strategy and simply nodded, "My lord, everything has been cleared out."
"Hmm, good," the young man threw a low-grade Heavenly Crystal onto the counter, "For your reward!" After that, he turned and left, not even bothering to check. He believed that in Divine Pill City, no one dared defy the descendants of the Dan God Emperor.
The innkeeper finally breathed a sigh of relief, collapsed in a chair, and looked at the low-grade Heavenly Crystal on the counter, a bitter smile on his face. He truly didn't want to go through this experience again. It seemed that after this matter was settled, he should find an opportunity to sell the inn. After all, he had accumulated some wealth over the years, which should be enough for retirement.
Though just a Primordial Infant realm cultivator, the innkeeper had many years of life expectancy left and was very content with his realm. He wanted nothing more than to find a peaceful and beautiful place to spend time with his family and enjoy life.
This was the mainstream ideology that never changed in the Cultivation Realm.
The mainstream ideology of the Cultivation Realm really isn't about seeking immortality or the highest realms. This is because the natural talent of the vast majority is ultimately limited.
Rather than continuously wasting their life expectancy in tedious cultivation, it is better to stop at a certain point and then start enjoying the life of the red dust.
Unfortunately, the innkeeper's wish was doomed to never come to fruition.
Less than half an hour had passed when the young man returned, his face ashen and his eyes seeming to spit fire as he glared coldly at the innkeeper, "You've got some nerve, daring to deceive anyone!"
"I, I didn't deceive you!" The innkeeper's heart chilled, and he tried to appear calm as he spoke.
"Didn't deceive me? Not long ago, a group of high-profile individuals came by, wanting to stay here. One sweep of their divine sense, and they discovered someone else's presence in a courtyard behind your inn. They left immediately!" The young man's chilly gaze fixed on the innkeeper, and he said threateningly, "You've ruined my big opportunity! When I return, I will certainly face severe punishment."
"I, I, I... I truly didn't deceive anyone," the innkeeper stammered, his voice changing as he looked at the young man.
Without giving the innkeeper any chance to defend himself, the young man raised his hand and struck him down with a palm, then searched the body, flipping out an exquisite Heavenly Crystal stone.
The young man's eyes instantly lit up, murmuring to himself, "Who would have thought... you're quite wealthy. Well, since those high beings wouldn't choose to stay here anyhow, I'd be doing myself an injustice if I didn't take all your money to face the punishment that's coming for me!"
With that, the young man didn't spare the dead innkeeper another glance and went straight toward the courtyard in the corner.
Chu Mo was continuously operating his cultivation method, immersed in enlightenment.
After chopping wood on the heavenly road previously, he hadn't had much time to comprehend.
Diligence is the key to mastery!
Some things in the world have shortcuts, but others do not.
Although only those with great talent can cultivate to higher realms, the higher one goes, the more this holds true. Cultivators with talent may cultivate slightly faster, but that's about it.
If one is not diligent enough, they will ultimately stagnate, fall behind, and be overtaken by others.
To avoid leaking his aura, Chu Mo directly used arrays to seal the small courtyard. As long as the arrays weren't disturbed, he would not be alerted. Hence, he was unaware of the events that had occurred until the young man disrupted the arrays, causing Chu Mo's eyes to snap open suddenly. A hint of confusion appeared on his face, which quickly turned into a look of divine sense sweeping out. Chu Mo's expression changed abruptly.
He took a deep breath, and a chilling light shot from his eyes. He had not anticipated that, because of him, the innkeeper would be murdered!
The murderer was undoubtedly this young man.
"Person inside, get out here!" A cold voice from the young man, Shan Fusheng, rang out from outside the courtyard.
Shan Fusheng was a simple steward of the Divine Pill sovereign family, but his cultivation realm was not low among the stewards.
He was a cultivator at the Heavenly Immortal Realm!
In the sovereign family of the Divine Pill City, his realm was naturally not much, but in Divine Pill City, he was somewhat known.
Therefore, his tone was aggressive, demanding the person inside to roll out.
