Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel

Chapter 76: Farewell to the Great Beast Kraken

The endless sea sparkled with sapphire-like waves, reflecting the azure of the sky.

Golden sunlight pierced through the clouds for miles, casting a myriad of radiant beams upon the sea's surface, like countless falling stars descending to the world.

North Sea.

This is the largest and most fertile, yet also the most mysterious sea region in the northwest of the Mireya Continent.

It is a famous fishing ground teeming with people from the Northern Territory and Falling Star, and the homeland of the mysterious and awe-inspiring sea monsters found in many of Mireya's fantastical tales.

Suddenly, a crimson light streaked across the sky like a meteor, piercing through the clouds.

Finally, the light descended in a fog-shrouded sea area, transforming into the shape of Charlotte.

Misty Sea.

This is the deepest and most mysterious place in the North Sea.

Even the most experienced fishermen turn pale at its mention and avoid approaching it.

Mist, sea monsters, ghostly ships... A multitude of bizarre phenomena and legends are always entangled with this sea region, adding even more enigma to the already mysterious Misty Sea.

However, for another organization, the Sea King Church, one of the three major churches that have been inherited for a thousand years in the North Sea and surrounding areas, this place is a sacred land of mythical reverence and aspiration.

Here... is rumored to be the resting place of the Ocean God "Sea King Oshen".

Charlotte stood in the air.

Crimson Divine Power upheld her, and the sea breeze lifted her legendary silver hair.

The golden sunset wrapped her in a layer of gold-red radiance, and the mist enshrouding her made her appear more solemn and divine than usual.

She gazed down at the ocean below, the golden-red pupils reflecting the sparkling sea surface, her eyes filled with sighs and complexity.

Time is truly a marvelous thing.

A thousand years can change many things.

But there are some things that seem frozen in time, as if two thousand years have passed yet they remain as if it was only yesterday.

For instance, this sea, this region of never-dispersing mist.

Coming here and seeing this seemingly familiar sea, Charlotte even felt as if she was still a thousand years back.

As if in the next moment, the Sea King's envoy would pierce through the mist, sailing a small boat towards her and greeting her with respect.

As if in the next moment, the sea would part to reveal Oceanus' rugged form, who would frown at her uninvited arrival.

But some things have inevitably changed with the passage of time.

Charlotte could no longer sense the Sea King's envoy.

Nor could she sense the presence of Oceanus.

What she could feel was only the familiar salty sea breeze, the sea surface that remained unchanged over a millennia, and the active magic in the air that had dwindled considerably compared to a thousand years ago.

With a soft sigh, Charlotte leaped into the sea.

Divine Power enveloped her as she descended, following memories to the depths of the sea.

A dilapidated underwater palace appeared before her eyes.

Collapsed columns, divine statues overgrown with coral — while the former splendor could still be traced, everything had become part of history.

Charlotte sighed softly.

Although she had long suspected, actually being here made her feelings complex.

She hadn't made many friends in the Mireya World, and Sea King Oceanus was considered one.

In her era of crossing, her initial intention in contacting the other party was merely out of curiosity about the True God and to follow historical developments to find strong support, but over time, she gradually opened her heart and became close friends with this myth.

Charlotte knew "Helios" had once impersonated the Sea King and was aware that the Sea God Church, one of the world's three major churches, had been declining over the centuries.

She knew all signs suggested this era's Oceanus was likely in trouble.

But having traversed history, and after befriending Oceanus, she had warned him multiple times to be wary of future calamities, so she held a sliver of hope.

Yet, reality proved that history is still history.

The history that has already occurred... truly cannot be changed.

Collecting her thoughts, Charlotte entered the Divine Hall of the Sea King.

Failing halls, familiar yet alien, vaguely still showed the layout of yesteryears.

Charlotte even saw the underwater courtyard where she frequently chatted with Oceanus, the coral table and chairs where they once sat.

But unfortunately, nothing remains the same.

The place had lost all vitality, let alone any lingering Divine Power, and going by the extent of the hall's dilapidation, it had likely been hundreds of years.

Coming to the center of the hall, Charlotte pondered briefly and recited an intricate spell.

Divine Power quietly flowed, gathering in her hand to eventually become a phantom conch.

This was a communication Divine Art Charlotte had learned from Oceanus when she crossed history, calling upon the Sea King's Favored to guide her.

In the era she traversed, she often summoned the ferryman of the Misty Sea in this way, the Sea King's Favored, Skeleton Captain Christopher.

Divine Power surged, and the conch let out a deep hum, sending ripples across the seabed.

Charlotte waited quietly.

Waiting for a possible response.

Regrettably, as time passed by the second, there was still no reaction.

It was at this moment that Charlotte had to admit that here... truly, nothing was left.

Charlotte shook her head, intending to leave.

However, just as she turned around, she felt a sudden impulse and looked in a certain direction.

She sensed the approach of an unfamiliar presence.

No...

The presence was not unfamiliar.

A deep moan came from afar, seemingly responding to Charlotte's summoning.

The heavy seawater began to stir, and Charlotte saw a massive shadow slowly emerging, growing larger and larger.

Finally, an enormous octopus swam from afar, appearing in Charlotte's view.

It was the legendary beast Kraken.

This pet of Sea King Oshen happened to be nearby, and it had been summoned by Charlotte.

Charlotte was somewhat surprised.

After all, according to her speculation, under the premise that Oshen's identity had been replaced by "Helios," this ocean beast was likely controlled by the opponent and should not have responded to her Divine Arts.

But Charlotte quickly noticed changes in the beast.

Compared to the last time she saw it, many of its tentacles were broken, and more ferocious scars added to its body.

It seemed to have undergone a tough battle, and that battle must have occurred a long time ago.

Most of the scars around the edges had healed, likely at least half a year ago, but the critical areas remained festering, faintly visible with black fog lingering in the wounds.

Charlotte slightly narrowed her eyes.

The fog was not unfamiliar to her.

"This is... 'Primordial' pollution."

Charlotte muttered to herself.

"Primordial" pollution.

The source of the Bloodline's blood rage, the culprit behind the downfall of the Harcos Clan, and also... the power held by "Helios."

Charlotte looked at Kraken.

Kraken also scrutinized Charlotte.

Unlike the ferocious and crazed beast from Charlotte's memories, this time... she did not see madness in its eyes.

On the contrary, its gaze was clear, and beyond the clarity, there was a hint of surprise.

Only, that hint of surprise quickly turned into confusion, doubt, and vigilance upon seeing Charlotte's appearance clearly.

Moreover, there was a trace of human-like tension.

Obviously, it should not remember its previous confrontation with Charlotte.

Of course, Charlotte had not seen it in the era she crossed over, nor could she have seen it, as Oshen had not yet kept an octopus pet at that time.

However, this was enough to let Charlotte analyze a lot of information.

The difficult-to-heal wounds, the change in temperament, the familiar black fog, coupled with the scars existing for at least a year and a half...

Charlotte's heart stirred, already having the answer:

"So, it seems... the last time I encountered you, you should have been controlled by the Sun Divine Palace?"

"Are you now free from their control during the three and a half years they were absent?"

Kraken did not answer.

However, it clearly understood Charlotte's words, as the doubt gradually overcame the vigilance in its eyes.

Charlotte exhaled lightly and raised the conch in her hand.

The Blood Divine Power surged, soothing Kraken's body.

Kraken immediately became tense, and was about to struggle.

"Don't move, I just want to help heal your wounds."

Charlotte said.

Kraken did not stop, but it quickly realized Charlotte's divine power was not attacking it.

The scarlet radiance merely spread over its body, devouring the black fog in its horrifying wounds.

Gradually, it calmed down, stiffly floating there, accepting Charlotte's healing.

The scarlet radiance lasted for about a minute and a half, during which the black primordial pollution was absorbed by the Blood Divine Power, leaving only the ferocious wounds.

By this time, Kraken was finally completely calm, and silently looked at Charlotte, though still carrying a trace of doubt and vigilance in its gaze, now accompanied by a hint of gratitude.

"I've cleared the pollution in your body; your wounds can heal now. You are a favored of Oshen, with some remnants of His power within. Your body is too weak now; for safety, I haven't used divine power for further healing, lest your body reject the divine power."

Charlotte said.

Upon hearing Charlotte's words, the vigilance in Kraken's eyes finally subsided.

It seriously looked at Charlotte, and after a moment, finally spoke:

"Honorable... Your Majesty."

"To my knowledge, within the church, only the favored granted Divine Grace can summon my master's Oracle Conch. Outside the church, the legend speaks of only one existence who once received my master's permission."

"May I ask... are you the Blood True Ancestor, Your Majesty?"
