Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel

Chapter 44: Time-Space Travel and Chaotic "Nodes

Charlotte never expected that there was also 'primal force' within Royena's body.

Her first thought was whether the other party was also controlled by that kind of power.

However, this idea was quickly overturned by her.

She could sense Royena's soul, lively and pure.

Although it carried a scent that Charlotte was extremely familiar with and occasionally wary of, the other's will was clear, intact, completely different from those two 'contaminated' demigods.

Royena had not become "that kind of thing."

Royena... merely carried the scent of the 'primal force.'

Charlotte naturally recalled the scene when she rescued the other from the Old God priest.

The "crystal ball" in the Old God priest's hand, and the expanding, familiar yet cautionary gray mist in the "crystal ball"...

It was mist identical to the aura behind the "door."

Charlotte's heart stirred slightly, vaguely realizing something:

"So it was, did it get contaminated then..."

Saying this, she looked at the Bloodline girl before her, who had closed her eyes, her eyelashes slightly trembling, nervously awaiting her investigation, and sighed softly in her heart:

"Fortunately, I discovered it early; if I'd waited any longer, this contamination might have turned into true 'pollution.'"

"However... it's somewhat strange; why Royena? There were quite a few priests in the Old God army, but it seemed that only that one priest could invoke the 'primal force.'"

"That priest... very soon committed suicide."

"Although it was by luck that I rescued Royena, thinking about it now... from the moment I arrived here, I already felt the call of the 'primal force' somehow."

"That Old God priest... didn't kill Royena outright, but instead seemed to want to control her in some way, which... doesn't seem like a coincidence."

"Moreover, after I saved Royena, those two 'demigods' acted, and their initial target wasn't entirely me; they wanted to capture Royena until they realized they couldn't contend with me, then chose to flee..."

"Looking back now... the purpose of the other side seemed strong and directed from the beginning."

"Could it be... this invasion by the Old God army wasn't just to attack while Lilith was weak but had a deeper purpose?"

"Their purpose... is to control Royena?"

"But... why Royena?"

Charlotte felt that the thought emerging in her mind was quite absurd.

And indeed it was absurd, because Royena in this era was merely an ordinary third-generation Bloodline, hardly capable of entering higher beings' sights, much less becoming a war target.

But the Old God priest's targeting, the ambush by the two demigods, was hard not to correlate.

If not for Charlotte's quick speed and decent luck, had she not happened upon Black Water Village while supporting and timely saved the other, Royena would have been doomed.

In a sense, it can be said to be a 'destiny' kind of luck.

However, there were also many things that didn't make sense in all this.

If Royena was the target, then the Old God's preparation seemed too hasty.

This invasion was definitely long-planned; although when those two 'demigods' entered the battlefield, the target seemed to be Royena, saying that the entire war was just to control a third-generation Bloodline doesn't make sense at all.

How to put it...

Charlotte felt like, initially, the entire Old God army was indeed invading the Free City State Alliance to take advantage of its weakness, but after the war began, the war target suddenly changed in a certain instant.

The later direction was strong, but the early preparations seemed inconsistent with the late-stage actions.

And the timing of this change was also subtle, just like an abrupt change after Charlotte joined the battle.

Very strange, exceedingly strange.

Charlotte felt as if she was missing something.

"That Old God priest once drew Royena into an Illusion Realm; maybe... helping her deal with the contaminated 'primal' aura, investigating what she saw in the Illusion Realm could answer my questions."

Thinking this, Charlotte used Divine Power, once again activating the Blood Holy Scripture deep in consciousness.

The illusionary Blood Holy Scripture glimmered softly, and the residual 'primal' aura within Royena was quickly drawn out by Charlotte.

However, just as Charlotte expelled the strands of gray mist from Royena's body, that mist suddenly transformed, turning into a blurred human face.

That face was illusory and unstable, its hollow eye sockets eerily gazing at Charlotte.

And at the moment she saw that blurry face, Charlotte's expression changed almost instantaneously.

Because she recognized it, that face... was the mysterious "deity" who once possessed Nais Bloodline, tested her, and after being exposed, disguised as Sea King Oshen to coax her into cooperating.

The other's demeanor, expression, and aura... were identical to that face in Charlotte's memory.

Charlotte instantly grew wary, the Blood Divine Power within her simultaneously aroused.

While the blurred face eerily gazed at Charlotte, it suddenly emitted a strange laugh:

"Heh heh ha ha... I see, so... it's like this?"
