The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 127: Duel and Exploitation_3

Xino Dragon's beefy eyes stared back unapologetically.

"You think I'm easily frightened?"

That said, he had no real intention of killing the Bronze Demon King.

After all, once the Demon King died, the core would shatter. Starting over was the least of his concerns; the core of the Demon King Territory was far too precious.

Moreover, the guy was actually talented, having managed to charm an Enchanting Demon head over heels.

Xino had even considered, as long as he willingly handed over his father's Demon King Territory, appointing him as one of his own underlings wasn't out of the question.

Mia snorted coldly and twisted her body back to the carriage.

The straining pegasus flapped its wings, lifting the great bulk of the carriage into the sky and vanished into the darkness above the street.

Her slow pace on the street earlier was intentional.

If she really exerted full effort, that little distance would take less than five minutes.

...

Seeing there was no more excitement to witness, the surrounding demons dispersed, leaving the tall and burly Xino standing in place like a fool.

He glanced in the direction of the Temple, lifted his proud head, then twisted around and walked toward one side of the street.

A warhorse, as massive as a young elephant, stood at the curb, elegantly moving its front hooves beside a street lamp.

Coming up to his mount, Xino was about to swing up and ride away when he noticed a pair of eyes gazing at him from a nearby alley.

Xino raised an eyebrow slightly, slapped his hand on the horse's back and muttered, "Wait for me a moment," then with his head held high, he strode into the narrow alley.

The buildings here weren't particularly tall, some low eaves couldn't even cover his thick eyebrows.

He searched for the person who had been spying on him earlier but found no trace, so he roared in a suppressed voice.

"Who's there? If you have something to say, come out and say it!"

At that moment, a half-eaten apple dropped to the ground, rolling slowly from the shadows ahead to his feet.

Xino looked up to see a petite figure sitting on a low wall in front, swishing her legs back and forth.

Her skin was pale as moonlight, her long purple-black hair cascading to her waist, and her crimson eyes emitted a lazy and mocking glow, like a ghost wandering in a graveyard.

The bats crowding around her, adoring her like stars around the moon, made the low wall beneath her resemble an unmarked tombstone.

And she seemed like the master of that sepulchral garden.

"What's the matter, big guy, got scared by my little darlings?"

She extended her index finger and gently caressed a bat beside her, which revealed sharp teeth and made a meow-like sound from its throat.

Vampire?

Backlit by the faint light of the crystal dome, Xino couldn't see her face clearly, especially since she had used magic to blur her appearance.

His eyes narrowed, and he spoke in a low voice.

"Your name!"

The girl yawned, speaking slowly and deliberately.

"You don't need to know."

"Are you here to plead on his behalf too?" Xino growled, anger rising in his chest like waves.

How many women has this pretty boy seduced!

This is outrageous!

To Xino's surprise, however, the girl sitting on the wall, after hearing him, smiled and pressed her bright red lips together.

"Quite the opposite, I want you to make it quick."

Xino squinted his eyes.

"What do you mean?"

"It's simple,"

the girl said, lightly stroking the bat, with a deliberate and slow tone.

"I want him dead."

Xino's breathing hitched for a moment, then he burst out angrily.

"What's that got to do with me!"

All he wanted was to reclaim the inheritance his father left and safeguard his father's lifetime of hard work. Why did these people, one after another, insist on telling him what to do!

He was a Horror Demon, not a minotaur!

Watching the suddenly irate demon, the girl's eyebrows lifted slightly.

"Oh? You don't want him dead?"

Xino said proudly, lifting his neck,

"I plan to defeat him, crush him on the battlefield, not like some low-life who only dares to lurk in the shadows scheming or resort to shameless murder!"

A look of indignation crossed the girl's face.

"Shameless? Who exactly is shameless—"

At this point, she suddenly took a deep breath and calmed down.

"Never mind, I have no time to discuss this with a stranger. Anyway... you think you've already got the upper hand?"

Xino said without hesitation.

"Isn't it obvious?"

"Idiot," the girl scoffed, "didn't you see the woman by his side? That's the young miss of the Padelich family, the de facto next Family Head. You think she's as destitute as you, without even a carriage to her name."

"Who says I don't have one!" Xino countered angrily, "It's just that a normal carriage can't fit... I'd rather ride a horse!"

"Is that the point? You imbecile!"

Seeing him continuously change the subject, the girl lost her lazy demeanor and couldn't help but burst out.

"You're just a second son with no inheritance rights. How much do you think the Dragon family will invest in you? My g... pah! That man's woman could crush your pitiful servants to death under the city walls with just the flick of a finger. And as long as he's alive, the Padelich family will always be a threat to you!"

"After all that, what are you getting at?" Xino asked, narrowing his eyes.

"What I'm getting at is, if things keep going as they are, you're sure to lose. That man is far more astute and tactful than you imagine, good at concealing and enduring..."
