"I await your news."
"At your service, my lord," Sir Andes bowed slightly, then walked toward the direction of the banquet hall.
As Sir Andes entered the center of the banquet hall, he immediately replaced Baron Ges as the focus of the entire hall.
Including Baron Ges himself, an expression of flattered surprise involuntarily appeared on everyone's face... although it quickly returned to normal.
This was perhaps the power of money.
As a noble surrounding Thunder City, no one understood the strength of the Andes Family better. To put it bluntly, they were the uncrowned kings of Thunder City.
Standing before such a noble person, all the baron could offer was the pride of his nobility and the feudal estates passed down from his ancestors.
And all of those assets combined might not even be worth as much as the ring on the finger of this uncrowned king...
Watching Baron Ges attempt to display superiority before Sir Andes while unable to resist currying favor, Edward, who was watching from a distance, couldn't help but smile.
He was growing more and more fond of this knight.
Both for his strength and his elegance.
If he could have the help of this wise man, surely the Campbell Duchy would have a limitless future, and his own position as the Duke would be as solid as the Ten Thousand Ridges Mountain Range.
Speaking of which, Sir Andes' title seemed to have been bestowed by the Ryan Kingdom.
It might be a good idea to give him the title of a baron, to make him wholly my vassal.
While the future Duke of the Campbell Duchy was thinking of this, a knight, weary from travel, entered through the back door, led by the butler.
Seeing the questioning expression on Edward's face, the old butler said fearfully.
"Your Highness... this knight insisted on seeing you, I had to bring him here."
"I am Charles, a knight of the Trident Knights," he said reverently performing a knight's salute.
"Your Highness, I have an urgent report for you. May I take a moment of your precious time?"
Edward didn't recognize this knight, but he did recognize the insignia of the Trident Knights.
"Is it not convenient to speak here?"
Charles shook his head, solemnly saying,
"It concerns the honor of the Campbell family and the safety of Thunder City, I think it would not be appropriate to let a third person know."
Edward looked toward the butler beside him.
"Take us to the lounge."
The butler immediately bowed and said,
"As you command."
After speaking, he walked ahead, leading both men to an empty room next to the banquet hall, then considerately closed the door behind them.
Edward took out his pocket watch to check the time, then looked at the travel-weary knight and said,
"There's no one else here; you may speak."
"It concerns the Miranda incident that the late Lord Knight Mel had investigated on behalf of the Duke of Campbell. According to our findings, we concluded that the incident is related to the corruption of Chaos..."
Seeing the astonished expression on the face of the eldest son of the Duke, Charles took a deep breath and continued in a heavy tone,
"In the course of the investigation, Lord Knight Mel unfortunately fell victim to the corruption of Chaos... including Deputy Commander Verne and the other 37 knights, have perished."
He originally intended to report directly to the Duke of Campbell, but Alex had said that since Edward, the Duke's eldest son, was recently in Thunder City, it would be more appropriate for him to report to Edward.
Why this was the case, Alex didn't say, only strongly recommended that he should do so.
Considering that Alex was the second son of Earl Spinor and far more knowledgeable about noble affairs than himself, Charles ultimately decided to come here with a skeptical heart.
Worst case scenario, he could report twice.
It was just unfortunate that he didn't even have a proper suit to wear, almost causing a conflict with the guards when he arrived, and finally had to enter through the back door of the banquet hall.
After listening to Charles's report, Edward was firstly shocked, followed by a long silence, and finally let out a light sigh.
"Lord Knight Mel... my father always had high hopes for him, and I deeply regret his death."
Pausing for a moment, he continued,
"However, both you and I understand that now is not the time for sorrow. The corruption of Chaos is approaching, and I fear that our world will soon face a greater threat, one that will far surpass anything Hell has done to us..."
Charles couldn't help but feel that Edward wasn't that concerned, his doubts about whether he should be here today growing.
However, just when he thought this, the Prince Edward standing before him shifted his tone and solemnly placed his right hand on his shoulder.
"Mr. Charles, among the people I know, you are the only one who has fought and triumphed over Chaos. I believe you must have the blessing of Saint Sis."
Charles bowed his head humbly and said,
"I am not worthy. I indeed received the blessing of Saint Sis, but that was afterwards—"
"Whether it was before or after doesn't matter; I believe you are the one chosen by Saint Sis... Additionally, I am pleased that you thought to report to me first about this matter."
Edward looked at him with approving eyes and continued,
"Tomorrow, I will return to Campbell Castle to present the situation here to my father. As for you, I would like you to remain here, to take over the work of Lord Knight Mel."
"But I—"
"From now on, you are the head of a branch of the Campbell Knights. The formal appointment will be delivered to you later... But my request of you extends beyond this. The chaos crisis has revealed our internal weaknesses; when corruption comes from within the knight orders, we are utterly helpless. I hope you will be able to help me fix this flaw."
