The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 87: The Surrendering Engineer Rats_2

"Listen closely, little mouse, if you dare pull any tricks... I will make you regret coming into this world."

These words, coming from someone else's mouth, might not be very daunting, but when spoken by the Undead Mage, they were imbued with an entirely different meaning.

Zhuangzhuang dared not dawdle and let out a shriek, scrambling forward on all fours.

"Yes—!"

Luo Yan then turned to the other Mole People, pointing with his magic wand at Zhuangzhuang's receding figure.

"You follow him."

"If he takes the wrong path, remember to remind him."

The Mole People unanimously screeched in response, quickly catching up to Zhuangzhuang's pace.

"Yes!!!"

...

Behind the Mechanical Temple was another spacious hall.

However, unlike the previous Mechanical Temple, this place didn't have as many complex, peculiar parts, nor heaps of garbage piled up. Instead, rows upon rows of densely packed metal shacks crowded the ground of the hall, resembling the shelves of a logistics company.

Obviously,

the platforms and partitions that were originally in this area had been removed, and these metal shacks were made from those materials.

The Mole People, like locusts, left a mess wherever they went.

If the Weaving Shadow Clan only built illegal structures by digging holes at the edge of the maze, then what these guys were doing was entirely akin to a renovation team's work, indiscriminately tearing down the maze's fixtures and fittings and replacing them with their own style.

Luo Yan had originally thought this place was some kind of farm, but after asking, he realized that this was actually where the group of Mole People lived.

Tens of thousands of Mole People ate, drank, and relieved themselves here.

Crowded, chaotic, without any semblance of order... even the Mole People in North Peak Mine lived in better conditions than this squalor.

The Mole People at higher levels tossed food scraps and feces down below, and when the metal shacks underneath were submerged in feces, the Mole People below would run up and build new houses, repeating this daily cycle... until their feces buried the former upstairs neighbors.

The cramped environment here, though restricted, didn't make them feel crowded. Instead, it provided them with an unparalleled sense of security.

However, the order and security of feeding feces to one another, I guess, could only be tolerated by these Mole People themselves.

Unsurprisingly,

a council might be just right for Dwarves, but for these Mole People who tried to emulate them, it was still too advanced.

Even when it came down to a matter of life and death, not a single capable individual took the initiative to stand out.

Around were either onlookers or guides.

The stench made Sarah involuntarily frown, and she subconsciously leaned closer to Luo Yan... because only there was somewhat fragrant.

Luo Yan stopped moving forward as well.

He couldn't help but ponder whether there was still a need to do so.

Zhuangzhuang, crawling in front, halted and, shivering, looked back at Luo Yan.

"The council... is up ahead, Lord Demon King. Are you sure you want to go? I don't remember whether there is a meeting today... It's possible that it's empty."

As he stopped, rows of Mole People poked their heads out from the shadows beneath the shacks, watching the four intruders nervously.

Like the little ones that had emerged from beneath the gears, they were at a loss how to deal with the invaders.

Looking at the rows upon rows of tightly packed "hamster cages" and the fearful little heads, Luo Yan finally gave up on the idea of venturing further. Instead, he spoke with an authoritative voice.

"No need."

"If they have not appeared by the time I reach here, it means their existence is a mistake in itself and there's no need for them to present themselves before me."

The cold voice made Zhuangzhuang's heart skip a beat, his limbs turn icy cold, and he clammed up, not daring to utter another word.

Luo Yan paused for a moment, then raised his magic wand, infusing his voice with magic power, before speaking slowly to the dwellings ahead.

"When I stepped into this place, I was surprised."

The monotonous voice didn't reveal any fluctuations, and the Mole People who were quietly spectating didn't know what he was up to, and could only watch curiously.

As more and more gazes focused on him, Luo Yan stopped being courteous with the bunch and continued in an icy tone.

"I am surprised."

"I am surprised that in just a few short months, a bunch of stinking rats have turned my maze into this ugly and foul-smelling mess!"

That authoritative voice was like the cold wind of a bitter winter, mercilessly blowing on the face of each Mole Person.

The biting cold seemed to pierce deep into the marrow of every Mole Person, deeply stinging their hearts as well.

Fear.

Anger.

Yet unmoved.

This was the response of these creatures.

They seethed at being treated like rats but lacked the courage to resist, only managing to tremble and bury their heads.

Intimidation—

It was the most concise method to deal with these cowards.

Or rather, it was the most suitable way to subdue them.

Luo Yan surveyed his surroundings.

As he expected, every gaze that met his swiftly submitted, bowing their heads, dreading even a second of eye contact.

A faint smile curved the edge of his mouth, Luo Yan, like a true villain, declared the fate of the Iron Teeth Tribe with an authoritative voice.

"You seem not to have grasped the situation, so let me clarify for you."

"This is the territory of Hell, and you are the intruders squatting in someone else's nest. Not only have you made a mess of this place, but you have also disassembled pieces that could have been better utilized, turning them into scrap, creating that rubbish you so proudly consider an achievement!"

"I have no interest in idle chatter with you, you have only two choices—submission or death."

"I will give you ten seconds."

As his words fell, Luo Yan's wand flashed with a ghastly green light, the pure evil emanating from it as if it came from the very depths of Hell.

As the Mole People watched Lord Demon King about to unleash his nefarious Undead Magic, a wave of panic ensued, filling the air with their chirping cries of fear.

Faced with the threat of death, someone finally snapped to their senses, leaping from the crowd to prostrate on the ground, screaming at the top of their lungs.

"Long live Lord Demon King!"

Seeing someone take the lead, those coiled up in their metal huts followed suit, clambering out one after another, desperately throwing themselves to the ground in a panic.

"Long live Lord Demon King! Long live the Demon God! Long live Hell!"

"The Iron Teeth Tribe will forever be loyal! Forever submit to you!"

"From now on, you are our lord! We shall follow your footsteps unto death!"

The cacophonous voices echoed in the expansive hall; amidst the frantic shouting, Luo Yan could sense the deep-seated fear in their hearts.

It was sufficient.

Luo Yan hadn't actually planned on slaughtering them. In fact, even before he came here, he had already considered the usefulness they could provide.

After the Weaving Shadow Clan's construction team, the Great Graveyard would gain a few more skilled renovation teams and adept artisans skilled in carving inscriptions.

Compared to the unruly rat people, the Mole People still held some value for training.

"Very well."

Facing the Mole People who now bowed in submission, Luo Yan nodded in satisfaction, extinguishing the ghastly green light at the tip of his wand.

"From today onward, I declare the Thirteen Teeth Council dissolved, a new council shall be established, and the council members... those rats," Luo Yan said, glancing at the small mice trembling behind Zhuangzhuang, then turning his gaze towards Zhuangzhuang.

"As for you, from now on, you will be the Chieftain of the Iron Teeth Tribe and the leader of these little ones."

Zhuangzhuang looked astonished at Luo Yan, not having the time to marvel at his sudden appointment, he quickly prostrated himself and accepted the command.

"By your will! My lord! Zhuangzhuang shall not fail your expectations, I will ensure that these little ones are well-disciplined and obedient," he exclaimed.

All the Mole People around envied and eyed the lucky little one with jealousy, including the "former council members" hidden in the crowd, their eyes flickering with blatant desire.

Those who had previously pushed him out of the crowd now wished they could swarm forward and tear him to pieces to replace him.

Yet precisely because of this, Zhuangzhuang, the little one, performed even more eagerly, nearly rubbing his fluffy head bloody on the ground.

Watching the little one desperately proving his loyalty, Luo Yan nodded in approval, then delivered his final statement.

"I hope your loyalty isn't merely lip service."

"Should you harbor any second thoughts, I will make you deeply understand... what it means to consider death a luxury."
