"66666!"
Everyone seemed to have found the joy they used to from playing "Siege" with building blocks, hand-rolling F35s and J20s, and they excitedly exchanged their wild ideas.
There were those who wanted to try automatic slashing, those who wanted to add auto-pathfinding to their shin guards, and even someone who wanted to install a full set of automatic monster-fighting systems to their armor... Not a single person thought of adding a few normal enchantments to their weapons.
Inspired by these assorted and eccentric ideas, the line at the Magic Workshop's door became increasingly outrageous—not only in length but also in the items held in the players' hands and their bizarre requests.
And when Oke heard these outlandish demands, his head went numb again and again until he finally couldn't bear it anymore and let out a scream.
"Too much! There's simply not enough time! Oke also has to complete the research task for Lord Demon King!"
"Right! Starting now, this shop will implement an appointment system! Write down your requirements, leave the items to be enchanted, and come back tomorrow!"
"What I can manage, I'll give you a quote, and whatever can't be done, take it away!"
With Oke being the only one in the entire Magic Workshop, just listening to the myriad of requests was enough to make him flustered and overwhelmed.
As the inscription service transitioned to an appointment-based system, the long queue at the door of the Magic Workshop eventually dispersed, leaving only the last person.
Oke, nervously facing the fellow named "Chugging Chemical Pools," asked.
"What about you? What are you here for?"
"Don't be nervous! Master Oke, I'm here to help... I heard this place is hiring apprentices." Chugging Chemical Pools said with a shy smile.
Although others might not see it, he considered himself quite timid.
Relieved that this guy wasn't here for inscriptions, Oke finally breathed a sigh of relief.
At last, a normal one!
"Want to be Oke's apprentice, eh? No problem! Take this... and go to the apprentices' room to start practicing with hole-punching!"
The moment he dropped that line, Oke tossed a rough piece of granite into the hands of the strangely-named fellow.
"Remember! First, punch holes with an awl! After punching, then connect the lines! Don't punch too deep, the stone will crack, and not too shallow, or the Demon Crystal powder won't stick!"
Chugging Chemical Pools nodded excitedly, indicating he understood.
"Just carve the Netherworld Language on it to make it work?"
Oke chuckled with a hint of mockery.
"Of course not! You need to use materials with good magic conductivity for it to work! And moreover, you still need to concentrate Spirit or connect magic stones to the inscriptions! This stone is for you to practice! Once you master it, Oke will naturally give you the real deal!"
With that said, Oke didn't bother with him anymore, and carrying a stack of orders, he went into his room and casually shut the door behind him.
An hour later, once he was done with his work, he'd manage to spare some time to take a peek at the apprentices' work area, to find fault with their creations, thus considering that as providing guidance.
After listening to Master Oke's instructions, Chugging Chemical Pools, holding the granite, went straight to the room deep within the Magic Workshop.
The facilities here were quite rudimentary, with just a few tables and some crudely made tool sets—it might even become a scramble when more people arrived.
In the rack against the wall lay a big pile of rocks, likely also meant for practice, belonging to the kind that wouldn't matter much even if you carved Netherworld Language on them.
Chugging Chemical Pools was curious about the ultimate limits of this amazing power but realized he had to start from the very basics.
This game, be it casting spells or crafting equipment, was unexpectedly realistic, offering no shortcuts at all, making him wonder about the rationale behind the game developers' decision, or perhaps there was a secret he didn't know about.
Chugging Chemical Pools found a spot, sat down, and started tinkering with the tools when suddenly, footsteps approached from outside, and another skeleton soldier walked in.
This fellow's ID was Zheng Fangxing, which sounded both like a name and like a dated internet joke from the previous generation.
"Eh? Someone's already here?"
Zheng Fangxing was surprised to find someone else had the same idea.
He had thought that the game was full of grinders and nobody would be interested in slow, meticulous tasks that didn't add much experience.
Chugging Chemical Pools looked him over and swiftly sensed a kindred spirit; the soul fire flickering within his skull trembled with delight.
"You're here to learn Netherworld Language too, right? Hahaha, a pleasure to meet! My ID is Chugging Chemical Pools!"
On hearing this name, Zheng Fangxing looked at him in astonishment as if recognizing something.
"Oh! I know you! You're quite the talent!"
"Hahaha, same to you. Since you're here, it shows you're no slouch either!" Chugging Chemical Pools winked with his nonexistent eyebrows and said playfully, "Let's collaborate if we have the chance!"
Zheng Fangxing eagerly shook hands with him.
"For sure, bro!"
Meanwhile, Luo Yan, who was advancing towards the third floor of the labyrinth, suddenly felt a tickle on his back and reached in with his wand to scratch it while muttering to himself.
"Youyou... I have a bad feeling about this."
Youyou, floating beside him, reassured him thoughtfully.
"Don't worry, Lord Demon King, Youyou's keeping an eye on Quality Square for you! So far, six violations of gaming conduct have been successfully prevented."
Luo Yan shook his head and instructed in a low voice,
"Not Quality Square, there won't be much trouble there. I'm more worried about Oke's Magic Workshop... Tag the apprentices there and observe them closely."
Youyou: "Magic Workshop? The apprentices learning Netherworld Language? Hmm... there doesn't seem to be any issues there, but rest assured! Youyou can handle this little task with ease!"
Luo Yan finally nodded at ease.
"Good, I leave it to you!"
