Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss'

Chapter 176: Void Gate

The roaring blaze eventually caught the attention of the upper council of Victorray Harbor.

Even in the sparsely populated Border Abyss, issues with the Void are absolutely big news. The reason is that the two are too close, and the history of Border Abyss resisting Void invasions is not just once or twice. Even if the Narrative Union hopes to maintain a stable and harmonious neutral stance openly, the independent city-states and nations may not think so.

For a time, news of Void invasions, mysterious blaze, and lone resistors spread rapidly in Victorray Harbor, filling the streets and alleys with panic.

Seeing that the next step was for enterprises to flee and the economy to decline, Guardian Eagle had to step forward, announcing the city was entering a state of martial law, then summoning the police and questioning the individuals involved and witnesses:

"Tell me everything you saw."

"I discovered it while hunting in the mountains, just behind the Mahmut family estate."

A hunter was still reeling from shock until a healer cast a calming technique, allowing him to speak logically:

"The ancestral estate has been destroyed. I saw murky Void crystals drifting down like snowflakes from the sky. The ground cracked open from within, emitting a terrifying purple curtain of light that extended like city walls and kept splitting outward as if something was about to emerge."

"I heard about a mysterious blaze. What was that about?" Eagle pressed further.

"A man, possibly a rogue swordsman, stood alone with a sword beneath the Void curtain. His long sword emitted flames and light that shot towards the Starry Abyss, as if aiming to pierce even the Layer Abyss. He relied on this strength to counter the other side of the Void."

After hearing the hunter's account, Eagle and the people around exchanged glances.

"The power of light, what does it make you think of?" Eagle asked everyone.

"Among the Six Grand Paths, there's no power related to light. Border Abyss has no strong power existing in its narratives. Even if it existed in the past, its strength was simply unremarkable."

Someone mentioned:

"However, on the Dragon Race side, there's always been a worship and belief in light."

"Dragon Race..."

Eagle murmured:

"That's not something to mess with."

"We have informed the Union, among the four Unions, the 'Crimson Blood Alliance' has the largest number of Dragon Race members. Perhaps we can hear some news from them, but more likely some scattered rogue dragon race members."

A subordinate explained:

"In any case, even if only to calm the public mind, please set out to investigate."

"Hamarjalay is not an easy opponent. Last time, during the Void interception battle, he killed many of our key forces. The Dragon Race, though not very united, has individual strength issues, and each one is formidable."

For such two behemoths, a small city-state like Victorray Harbor simply doesn't have the capability to contend.

The Union hopes for stability and harmony and has always promoted a reconciliatory attitude towards the Void. Acting rashly against the Void could cause dissatisfaction within the Union.

And there are many wandering sons of the Dragon Race outside who might threaten both directly.

Logically speaking, originally pretending to be dead, quietly waiting for the situation to pass would be fine, but the battlefield happened to occur at the Mahmut family's estate.

Combined with previous instances of the estate being set on fire, Eagle could guess with his toes that if they pretended to be dead in this matter, the reaction among the upper echelons of the city would be:

——'My God, if even an established family like the Mahmut family can't protect itself, this city has no sense of security. We have to quickly pack up and run.'

If this is left unchecked, internal discontent will brew within the city-state.

"There needs to be a way to shift what should be Victorray Harbor's responsibility outward."

With this in mind, Eagle sighed, opened a teleportation gate, and headed outside the city.

"Hopefully, the conflict between the executioner and the rogue dragon race won't be too deep. Of course, the best outcome would be if they both perish together, making it easy to brush things off."

As he passed through the teleportation gate, before he could even steady himself, a blasting cyclone instantly hit him head-on.

Eagle hurriedly raised his staff, opening a protective field before him, and a sturdy crystal wall rose up, but it shattered within half a second.

Before he could react further, the brooch on his clothing emitted a spell's arcane glow, blocking the strike.

"Tsk, this power isn't weak at all. Even the aftermath can deliver a full strike of Lambda Tier (11)."

If such destructive power is unleashed, then the two monsters at the center of the battle must at least start at Cauchy Rank.

Which means they're around the same level as him right now.

Eagle hesitated for a moment; if he were younger, he wouldn't have minded and would have already charged in.

But now, there's only one Guardian in the city-state: him. If he falls here...

People are selfish. To be honest, with his current wealth and status, he's already at a point where he can enjoy luxury without risking his life.

Just as he was pondering, another fierce heatwave descended. Eagle flashed away just in time, landing in a forest, with a strong hot wind almost tearing his clothing off his back.

Looking around, the once dense thicket had turned to a field of charred ash. A gentle breeze reignited the remaining embers into scarlet flames.

Even at the periphery, the temperature here had already reached unimaginable levels. If this were the Layer Abyss, an entire Solar System would probably be burned up.

Only in the Border Abyss would the heat reverse transmit, indirectly weakening the high-temperature spells' destructive range and diffusion ability.

"That heatwave just now... there's no mistake, only Cauchy Rank (14) could unleash such destructive power. Although no pathway power is sensed, this precisely proves that it's the Dragon Language power of the Superior Dragon Clan."

But, for even that dragon race member to unleash such terrifying power, then facing Executioner Hamarjalay, he must be even stronger.

Eagle raised his head, casting enhancement spells on himself and releasing a series of magic scouts to search the surroundings.

Soon, one of the scouts transmitted a combat scene.

Clang!

A blazing blade heavily struck the sturdy gate. The vast power transmitted to the ground immediately triggered an earthquake at the spot. Magma gushed out, devastating the ecosystem.

Clap.

Li Aozi landed with a crash, his entire body protected by the Demon Iron King Armor, significantly enhancing his resistance to the Void.

However, this didn't mean he had gained an advantage.

He looked up, staring with platinum dragon eyes at the massive gate slowly spreading from the Void curtain.

Void Gate.

Typically, only a Great Monarch like Xides is qualified to open the gate, traversing the Starry Abyss through the rift instead of through Underwater Abyss Port.

Compared to Underwater Abyss Port, a Void Gate can't maintain bodies in reality for long, usually serving as a temporary bridge for transporting projections and advance troops.

However, a Void Gate's strategic value lies in the fact that an ascending or descending entity through it, as long as it's within the energy tide range of the Void, isn't considered ascending.

In other words, if a [Void Executioner] were to step out, even if only able to maintain for 10 minutes, it would be in its uncursed perfect state.

Can you fight it? Certainly not.

Hamarjalay at his peak could duel with the level 300 [Meteor Fall Master] 'Li Zi' of his past life. Even Li Zi, clad in a Void Dragon Skin Robe with a Stellar Shield, would have his defense broken by Hamarjalay's first strike.

This has nothing to do with physical build.

Hamarjalay possesses conceptual abilities.
