What is an immortal?

Chapter 331: Cultivators Will Never Be Slaves

Eight years ago? Wugou City? The girl in white?

Chen Shang's mind flashed with these three terms, as he vaguely pictured the face of a mischievous young girl.

Since his youth, he was fond of women, often using his family's power to abduct mortal girls from the civilian population. Later, mortal women no longer satisfied his desires, so he began to target low-level Loose Cultivator women without power or influence.

He also had a habit of killing the women he seduced and then abandoned, in order to avoid any unnecessary trouble afterward.

The girl in the white dress had just embarked on the Immortal Path. Her playful yet innocent temperament and her stubborn, unyielding nature had left a deep impression on him. Since he had seen her, he naturally wouldn't let her go.

Chen Shang carefully recalled the girl's appearance, which bore some resemblance to Feng Ling before him. Could the two be father and daughter?

His heart sank, but he said, "Fellow Daoist Feng, I don't know what you're talking about. I grew up in Wugou City, but I left there more than twenty years ago to join the Guiyuan Sect, and I have never gone back since. You must be mistaken."

"Is that so? Let me jog your memory then," Feng Ling slowly rotated his blue long knife, its sharp blade slicing through Chen Shang's organs.

"Ah..." Chen Shang let out a piercing scream.

"Remember now?" Feng Ling paused with the long knife in his hand and asked slowly.

"I really don't know what you're talking about! I am a direct descendant of the Chen family in Wugou City, and also an Inner Sect Disciple of the Guiyuan Sect, you can't kill me..." Chen Shang begged in agony.

"Hehe, quite an impressive background, so you must have done many such heinous acts. This hand did them, right?" Feng Ling's mouth twisted into a cruel smile as he stepped on Chen Shang's right hand and pressed down hard.

With a "snap," Chen Shang's entire palm shattered into a lump of flesh, and the bones were crushed to bits.

Amid Chen Shang's screams and terror-filled eyes, Feng Ling stepped on his other hand, similarly reducing it to pulp.

Chen Shang let out another heart-wrenching scream, his eyes filled with fear and despair as he looked at Feng Ling.

He realized Feng Ling didn't care whether he admitted his guilt; he just wanted to let him die slowly in agony.

"I found out five years ago that you were the murderer. To avenge my daughter, I've been watching you every moment these past five years, but you're too cowardly, always hiding in safe places. Even here in these mines, you only nested in the residential area of the Guiyuan Sect Disciples. Without help, I don't know how long it would have taken for me to get this revenge!" Feng Ling said slowly, pressing his foot down on Chen Shang's knee with force.

Chen Shang's leg bones shattered, and after screaming in intense pain, he fainted.

"We don't have much time left; it's about time to finish this," Hua Zhi's voice rang in Feng Ling's ear.

Feng Ling fell silent for a moment, then pulled out his blue long knife and struck with the back of his hand.

Blood sprayed as Chen Shang's head flew off.

"I have honored the agreement with you and our master, helping you achieve your revenge. What about your promise?" Hua Zhi continued to speak through sound transmission.

"Don't worry, I have arranged everything. Just follow the plan," Feng Ling replied, putting away the long knife.

"Okay." Hua Zhi responded, her voice completely disappearing.

A burst of exclamations came from ahead, where several Qi Refining Stage guards who were patrolling the dormitory area heard some noises and rushed over.

"Good timing, you can accompany him in death!" Feng Ling's eyes flashed with a vengeful light, as he immediately charged with his knife.

These Qi Refining Stage cultivators were no match for Feng Ling, who cut them down in the blink of an eye.

After killing several enemies in succession, Feng Ling felt somewhat calmer, grabbed the Storage Bags of Chen Shang and the few Qi Refining cultivators, and headed straight for the inside of the dormitory.

In a larger room in the deeper area of the dormitory, about twenty Foundation Establishment monk slaves were gathered, including She Yu, Xu Che, and Wulu.

No one spoke; it seemed they were all waiting for something.

Suddenly, the ground in front of them cracked open, and dozens of purple-black vines shot out, wrapping around the collars on everyone's necks.

The people inside the room stirred slightly, but did not dodge.

A surge of powerful demonic power poured from the vines, ruthlessly destroying the forbidden restrictions inside the collars.

The collars on about a dozen people "clattered" as they broke and fell to the ground.

Various colors of light shone on these people as their Mana completely returned.

"Let's start the action as we previously discussed!" a bald man said. The group with restored mana rushed outside.

Hua Zhi's vines shot out again, wrapping around the collars of the remaining Foundation Establishment cultivators and breaking them in the same manner.

Among these people were Zuo Qinghui, She Yu, Xu Che, and Wulu; She Yu and Xu Che burst with bright yellow light, both cultivating Earth Attribute Methods.

They too rushed outside to release the collars off other cultivator slaves.

She Yu, Xu Che, and Wulu were about to follow when Zuo Qinghui called out to them.

He waved his sleeve, and the ground flashed with spirit light, revealing two Magic Artifacts and two Earth Tunneling Talismans.

"There are many Array Eyes in the defensive Arrays inside the cave. She Yu, Xu Che, you both cultivate Earth Attribute methods. Use these Artifacts and Talismans to help our master destroy those Array Eye Stone Pillars," Zuo Qinghui said. Hua Zhi had previously returned his storage magic tool when she broke his collar.

She Yu and Xu Che acknowledged and took out the Artifacts and talismans, immediately tunneling underground.

Zuo Qinghui turned to Wulu, about to assign him a task.

However, Wulu, who had just been standing beside him, was now nowhere to be seen.

Zuo Qinghui was startled; he had been using his Divine Sense to monitor the surroundings, yet he hadn't noticed when Wulu disappeared.

But he didn't pay it too much mind, soaring outward to join the action of removing the collars.

Word spread quickly, from one to two, two to four, four to eight...

In a very short time, as many as forty or fifty mine slave cultivators had gained their freedom and restored their mana.

Breaking the collars required the mana of Foundation Establishment Stage, so Zuo Qinghui and the others chose to rescue the Foundation Establishment Cultivators.

The magic artifacts brought by Hua Zhi and the others who arrived later were distributed, but it was far from enough; only a few people had magic artifacts, while the majority were still empty-handed.

Even so, forty or fifty Foundation Establishment Cultivators already made a considerable force.

Zhou Peng was among the first batch to be rescued, but having been freed from the collar's restraint, he showed little joy and instead appeared tense with a hint of bewilderment on his face.

Just then, the Guiyuan Sect cultivators from the caverns ahead finally noticed the disturbance in the dormitory area and a dozen or so Foundation Establishment Cultivators, accompanied by dozens of Qi Refinement Stage Cultivators, charged over.

Zhu Si and Liao Zhong, who had left not long before, were among them.

Zhou Peng had been imprisoned by Guiyuan Sect for many years and deep down had developed an awe of the Sect's guarding disciples. Seeing the large number of Guiyuan Sect cultivators arriving, each with a murderous look, he immediately showed a frightened expression.

There were not a few cultivators like Zhou Peng, all showing fear and retreating, the will to fight completely gone.

The morale that had just risen now plummeted to the bottom.

"Cultivators will never be slaves, kill!"

Feng Ling, who had anticipated this scenario, roared out first, propelling his blue long knife toward Zhu Si, who was at the forefront!

Following behind him were a few of his loyal subordinates who had also just received their magic artifacts, all of them urging the artifacts forward, following Feng Ling in assault.

Zhu Si, facing Feng Ling's offensive, didn't think twice before clapping his hands together, and immediately his body flashed with silver light, shooting out nine small silver swords, each one circulating with silver light, the momentum daunting.

After briefly circling around, these small swords clashed with the blue long knife.

Zuo Qinghui knew that this moment was critical; if he couldn't rally the will to escape among these mine slaves, their previous efforts might well be in vain.

"Fellow Daoists, my master has already entangled Elder Hai. As long as we defeat these Guiyuan Sect cultivators, we shall immediately break free from the clutches of Guiyuan Sect. Once that happens, the vast heavens and earth will be ours to roam freely. What are you hesitating for? Cultivators will never be slaves, fight for freedom!" Zuo Qinghui also bellowed, raising the Blood Star Tube.

The Blood Star Tube burst forth with dazzling Blood Light, and a blood-colored bullet roared out, aimed at another leader, Liao Zhong.

Liao Zhong, who had already witnessed the power of the Blood Star Tube and was extremely wary of it, hurriedly raised a Black Gold Shield and a yellow Banner, stacking them in front of his body.

The Spiritual Power fluctuations on the Black Gold Shield and yellow Big Banner were intense, clearly of no low grade.

The blood-colored bullet hit the outer Black Gold Shield, making "pu pu" two soft noises as it easily penetrated both magic artifacts, continuing to head straight for Liao Zhong.

Liao Zhong's complexion drastically changed, and he quickly moved to the side while a bright white light flared up on his body, forming another white Light Shield around him.

With a "sizzle," the blood-colored bullet effortlessly broke through the white Light Shield and hit Liao Zhong's chest, melting into it.

A blood hole the size of a bowl appeared on Liao Zhong's chest, rapidly widening, and as it progressed, not only flesh but even bones were dissolving.

Blood flowed from the seven orifices on his face as he fell to the ground with a thud, twitching a few times before he breathed no more, his body quickly turning into a puddle of purulent blood.

The nearby Guiyuan Sect cultivators were all shocked, their faces filled with horror!

Zuo Qinghui was not surprised by this; he had studied the Blood Star Tube for over a year and had completely mastered the secrets of this magic artifact.

This tube was able to melt demon beast corpses into blood-colored bullets with strong corrosive effects for storage, its might unparalleled.

Currently, there were four blood-colored bullets in the tube. The Blood Pill Zuo Qinghui had used to attack Cui Wuran earlier was transformed from the corpse of a Second-level Demon Beast.

Now to boost morale, he decided to ensure a one-hit kill, so he launched the very first one, which was likely transformed from a Third-level Demon Beast. Even Core Formation Stage cultivators may not be able to withstand this Blood Pill, let alone Liao Zhong.

Pu pu pu!

The nearby ground cracked, and dozens of thick Purple-black Vines shot out, sweeping across the sky to coil around the Guiyuan Sect guards stunned by the Blood Star Tube.

"Cultivators will never be slaves! Let's charge!"

"Cultivators will never be slaves! Kill!"

Seeing the leading person of Guiyuan Sect being killed, the other mine slaves suddenly came to their senses, and roaring with energy, they urged their magic artifacts and magic forward, rushing to attack.

The mine slaves had the advantage in numbers of Foundation Establishment Cultivators, and together with Hua Zhi, Zuo Qinghui, and others, they quickly overpowered the Guiyuan Sect disciples, who began to fall back step by step.

However, under the command of several Foundation Establishment Cultivators of Guiyuan Sect, these disciples gradually steadied their footing. Even though they were at a disadvantage at the moment, they did not show any signs of an immediate collapse.

Meanwhile, more guarding disciples continued to join the battle from the surrounding areas, and both sides were momentarily locked in a deadlock.
