Feng Ling slowly relaxed his grip on the palm, watching Wei Chang's body slide to the ground, he sighed softly and slowly began to speak:
"You are free now."
Having said that, he expressionlessly stretched out his hand, gouged out Wei Chang's eyes, then laid the body flat on the ground, covered it with a thin blanket, and walked out of the room.
The next morning, Wei Chang's body was discovered, and Feng Ling was greatly enraged. He spent a large number of contribution points to place a bounty on the murderer. For a time, the mine slaves were in a state of panic, both eager for the windfall and fearful of ending up like Wei Chang, being targeted by the murderer.
But for the mine guards, this was not a big deal; after all, only a mine slave had died, and in the past, they would have simply disposed of the body. Although they were short-handed in the mine now, they only conducted a cursory investigation and naturally did not inquire into any results, ultimately dismissing the incident as infighting among the mine slaves.
That same evening, in the Combat Arena, facing Zuo Qinghui and Wulu who had come to meet again, Feng Ling finally gave a positive response and introduced them to several other figures who had some reputation among the mine slaves.
In the days that followed, Zuo Qinghui and others took advantage of the daytime mining, secretly discussed in the mine tunnels, and gathered again at night, discussing the details of the plan, and finally, everything was ready.
...
Night fell.
In a hidden depression near the mine vein, Yuan Ming slowly rose and walked towards the desert outside, with Vajra's silhouette following him.
The ground around them bulged, and Hua Zhi emerged from underground, asking, "Master, shall we start now?"
"This is a dangerous battle, hold nothing back, fight with all your might!" Yuan Ming spoke as he walked.
The man and two beasts quickly reached the vicinity of the bronze gate on the sand dune, Yuan Ming released Lei Yu to monitor the surroundings of the mine vein while he approached the bronze gate.
After observing the gate for a few moments, Yuan Ming pointed a finger at his brow, releasing a soul crow.
The soul crow emitted a silent Crow Cry at the gate, sending out a wave of Soul Power Sound Waves which easily penetrated the gate.
Inside the bronze gate, several guards' eyes became misty, as if seeing someone from their sect come to inspect the mine vein, prompting them to immediately open the gate.
Yuan Ming retracted the soul crow and walked in.
The few Green Wolf demon beasts tied in the corridor suddenly stood up, their eyes blazing with ferocity, about to bark.
However, Yuan Ming had already shot out a burst of Divine Sense from his brow and cast the Dream Butterfly Illusion Technique.
The eyes of the Green Wolves also became drowsy, and they lay down on the ground and fell into a deep sleep.
Whoosh!
Several purple-black vines shot out from the ground, piercing the heads and hearts of these wolves.
The few Green Wolves made muffled whines, but the vines that pierced their heads firmly wrapped around their mouths, silencing them, while the vines quickly absorbed the demonic power and blood of the Green Wolves.
A few breaths later, these Second-level Demon Beasts were reduced to withered carcasses.
The Guiyuan Sect could hardly have dreamed that its secret mine vein located here would be easily discovered by outsiders, and that its originally stringent defenses were practically non-existent in front of a Foundation Establishment Soul Cultivator.
"According to the plan, split into two teams." Yuan Ming said to Hua Zhi.
Without a second word, Hua Zhi turned and burrowed into the ground, leaving no trace.
Yuan Ming and Vajra continued forward, using illusions to knock down all the Qi Refining disciples guarding the path along the way, quickly passing through the corridor and reaching the entrance of the underground void.
It was deep into the night, and there were only a few Guiyuan Sect disciples patrolling here, led by a bald, middle-aged man in the Foundation Establishment stage, who was engrossed in meditation on a Stone Pillar.
This man immediately sensed Yuan Ming and Vajra approaching, and just as he was about to stand up and question them, a white figure flashed before his eyes, and Vajra appeared right in front of him, throwing a punch directly.
Vajra's movements had no flourish, distinguished only by its speed, far surpassing the reaction time of the Foundation Establishment Cultivator.
With a loud bang, his bald head shattered, bits of red and white scattering, the headless body flew backward like a meteorite, crashing heavily into the stone wall behind and forming a crater in the hard wall, spiderweb-like cracks emerging around it.
As Vajra acted, the few Qi Refining disciples had already been knocked out by Yuan Ming's Illusion Technique, completely unconscious, naturally taking a while to wake up.
While Vajra's strike was as smooth as flowing clouds, taking only a breath or two from the start to the killing of the bald cultivator, Yuan Ming clearly did not intend to conceal the noise. In no time, many Guiyuan Sect guards rushed towards the scene.
"These people are yours to deal with." Yuan Ming, having already grasped the general layout of the cave through Zuo Qinghui and moved past Elder Hai's dwelling without stopping.
According to the information explored by Zuo Qinghui and the soul crow, Elder Hai had been staying in the secret chamber of his dwelling these past two days, deeply immersed in his bizarre experiments. To avoid disturbance, the secret chamber was surrounded by Forbidden Barriers, and unless the barriers were triggered, it was likely Elder Hai would remain oblivious to any commotion outside.
Yuan Ming chose to make his move today for this reason, too. If he had acted the moment he broke in, Elder Hai would have intervened, complicating matters significantly.
His speed was extremely fast, and in the blink of an eye, he dashed deep into the mine to a stone wall, where he took out an Earth Tunneling Talisman and activated it.
A yellow light flashed, and Yuan Ming submerged into the stone wall, quickly reaching its depths.
A grayish-white Stone Pillar stood there, covered with Array Patterns and emitting bursts of blue light.
Yuan Ming flipped his hand and summoned the Blood Transformation Saber, channeling all his Mana into it.
Thick Blood Light burst from the Blood Transformation Saber, illuminating the nearby stone walls, which melted rapidly, forming a hole several feet wide in the blink of an eye.
"Slash!" Yuan Ming formed a spell, and the Blood Transformation Saber let out a whistling hum, transforming into a blood-colored saber stream several meters long and fiercely striking the Stone Pillar.
With a loud bang, the Stone Pillar was nearly cleaved in half, dimming most of the Array Patterns on it.
Without the slightest pause, Yuan Ming quickly withdrew the Blood Transformation Saber and struck again, releasing an even larger blood-colored saber stream at the crack in the Stone Pillar.
The Stone Pillar finally couldn't withstand it and was completely cleaved in half, with all the Array Patterns on it dimming entirely.
This Stone Pillar was one of the core parts of the mine's Barrier, and now that it was split, the light from the mine's various Barriers rapidly weakened.
Yuan Ming sheathed the Blood Transformation Saber and continued to activate the Earth Tunneling Talisman, heading straight for the next Stone Pillar.
...
In a hidden chamber, Elder Hai was seated next to a blood-colored Array, inside of which lay a Foundation Establishment Cultivator, specifically the recently captured Fire Origin Sect burly man Shi Chuan.
Shi Chuan was currently unconscious, and for some reason, his Mana was circulating rapidly, his body emitting strands of red light and radiating intense fluctuations of Fire attribute magic power.
"Not bad, not bad, to cultivate the Red Fire Heart Method to such a degree is no small feat," Elder Hai slightly nodded, retrieving an object, which was an arm covered in fiery red fur with a pale blue talisman attached to it.
The arm's fingers resembled human hands, but the joints were thick, and sharp claws extended from them; it was the arm of a Fire Ape Demon.
The arm seemed to still possess considerable vitality, as if it had been freshly severed, emitting fluctuations of demonic power far surpassing that of a Second-level Demon Beast, its original owner unmistakably a Third-level Demon Ape.
Elder Hai tore off the talisman from the arm, then flicked his fingers, sending a blade of Blood Light slashing across Shi Chuan's right arm, severing it cleanly at the shoulder as blood spurted out.
He then aligned the ape arm, and from his palm, dozens of blood-colored tendrils shot out, rapidly suturing the ape arm onto Shi Chuan's shoulder.
After a few breaths, the ape arm was attached, looking as if Shi Chuan's right arm had naturally grown that way. Perhaps because of the compatibility in attributes, it did not produce any abnormalities.
"It seems that in terms of body transplantation, my Transplanting Technique has already reached a considerable level of proficiency." A hint of joy flitted through Elder Hai's eyes. He then cast a spell with one hand, activating the blood-colored Array's operation.
Numerous translucent blood threads surged from within the Array, merging into Shi Chuan's body, eventually gathering at the joint between the hand and ape arm.
A layer of faint Blood Light emerged, meandering back and forth between the fiery red ape arm and Shi Chuan's body, slowly beginning to merge the demonic power of the ape arm with Shi Chuan's aura; the process seemed to proceed smoothly.
Elder Hai showed a look of satisfaction. This blood-colored Array was a Supporting Magic Array he had specially set up after mulling over the previous unsuccessful heart transplant incident, and now, it seemed to be performing exceptionally well.
However, at this moment, on one side of the chamber's stone wall, a fist-sized white Jade suddenly emitted a bright blue light, flickering incessantly.
"Someone is invading, who dares to be so bold?" Elder Hai's expression darkened, his eyes flashing with a trace of murderous intent.
But now was a critical moment in his transplantation technique, and abruptly stopping it would mean all his previous efforts were wasted. His expression fluctuating, he could only accelerate the Array's operation, attempting to stabilize the situation as quickly as possible.
His fingers moved rapidly, casting spells continuously. Before long, the blood-colored Array brightened, forming a square-shaped Blood Barrier that enveloped Shi Chuan's body.
Only then did Elder Hai stand up and quickly walk outside.
...
The dormitory area.
It was now midnight, and most of the mine slaves had already retired to rest, but the Combat Arena was still exceptionally noisy, with many Guiyuan Sect guarding disciples and a few mine slaves gathered around watching.
On the Combat Arena, two monk slaves were fighting against two Leopard demon beasts. One of them was Feng Ling, while the other was a rotund man, not very agile, but his immense strength barely held off one Leopard demon.
Feng Ling faced the other; he dodged to the side at the last second, narrowly avoiding the Leopard demon's attack, then immediately turned around and pounced, his entire frame like that of a large, robust demon beast.
Feng Ling landed directly on the Leopard demon's back, reaching out with both hands to grasp its neck, and forcefully twisted.
His arm muscles suddenly bulged enormously, doubling in thickness, and a tremendous strength burst forth instantly.
With a "snap," a muffled sound echoed as the neck bones of the Leopard demon were brutally broken, its body convulsing like sieved chaff, and it soon lay lifeless.
Feng Ling stomped on the ground, leaping up, and pounced on the other demon, quickly killing it in the same fashion, provoking a burst of cheers from the nearby bleachers.
