Taiyi Dao Fruit

Chapter 234: King Zhuanlun

"Namo Amitabha,

Tu Tathagata..."

On the square of Jiuhua Temple, there were stone statues in the shape of beasts. A monk, cloaked in a light gold kasaya, sat on one of these stone statues, one leg bent and the other naturally hanging down. His eyes were slightly closed as he chanted the Rebirth Mantra.

His voice transformed into light gold characters, arranging themselves into lines of scripture, floating around him.

Meanwhile, batches of monks reciting the Rebirth Mantra entered the square from one side of Jiuhua Temple's mountain gate, circled around the square, and then exited through the gate.

Thus, in repetition, people came and went, leaving behind Buddha's energy that condensed into Buddhist chanting. The sounds transformed into characters, joining the rows of scriptures floating in the center of the square.

By nightfall, the monks finally stopped entering, leaving only the golden scriptures floating, illuminating the gradually darkening temple.

As the night deepened, a sinister aura began to spread quietly, an invisible chill gathering towards Jiuhua Temple. During the day, the temple appeared normal, but now it seemed more mysterious. An indistinct Yin Qi condensed into illusory faces, emitting mournful wails.

The monk continued chanting scriptures, and a vast roulette appeared behind him, divided into six paths, both benevolent and malevolent. As it rotated, ghosts howled, drawn by waves of invisible power, swirling toward the roulette.

The scriptures purified the resentment, leaving only slight residual spirits absorbed into the roulette, distributed among its six paths.

"Chanting scriptures by day, purifying spirits by night. During the day, it manifests in the Yang World, receiving the power of the monks, and at night, it returns to the Yin World to transform resentment. During this time, Jiuhua Temple has become the primary location on the Mountain of Mind and Heart, where monks from various sects and temples come to chant, even offering incense."

A gentle voice suddenly echoed in this eerie setting, approaching with indistinct footsteps.

Originally, the permeating Yin Qi dispersed as a figure crossed the boundary of Yin and Yang, entering Jiuhua Temple at night.

"But no one would think that the one absorbing incense to cultivate is actually an ally of the Awakened," the monk on the beast-shaped stone statue slowly raised his eyes. Behind him, the roulette accelerated, purifying all nearby resentment in a short time.

"Benefactor, you overpraise me. I am merely doing my bit. Moreover, in Buddha Country, all practitioners are equal. If we're talking about allies, all Buddhist friends are allies of the Chief," the monk said calmly, replying to the intruder while taking in their appearance.

This person was undoubtedly Jiang Li, dressed in splendid white attire with gold patterns. His hair was tied with a jade crown, with two pale strands hanging beside his face, which was white and had a luminous glow. His gaze carried an indescribable majesty, making it hard for anyone to meet his eyes directly.

"If not an ally, why would the Awakened let me meet with you?"

Jiang Li lightly laughed, saying, "If not an ally, why intentionally guide Jiang Zhuyang of the Jiang family to seek me out?"

As he spoke, Jiang Li approached, and the surrounding wails quickly dissipated. Interestingly, no resentment came near Jiang Li.

"The people of the Jiang family, they died so cleanly," Jiang Li remarked.

So many died, and they were all cultivators, surely leaving behind strong resentment and some insignificant residual spirits. Even though these resentments and spirits can never return to their complete forms and have no consciousness, some instinctual obsessions may still linger slightly.

Of course, the Jiang family members had resentment toward Jiang Li. Jiang Li thought he would be warmly "welcomed" by the residual spirits of his kin when he appeared.

Even if their souls scattered, his kin shouldn't forget him.

Unfortunately, the Jiang family members died too cleanly, so Jiang Li could not enjoy the welcoming reception.

"Those killed by the Fourth King of the Fire House Buddha Hell leave no trace. Even the Vajrapani Bodhisattva was destroyed in form and spirit by him. Benefactor, there's no need to worry about resentment attacks. As for the past events..."

The monk shook his head and said, "I merely gave a nudge at the right moment. That Benefactor Jiang Zhuyang was already bewitched by invisible Yin force, even without my intervention. Sooner or later, he would have died at your hands."

But without your timely "nudge," Jiang Zhuyang might not have died so soon.

Moreover, the Vajrapani Bodhisattva was severely injured by Jiang Li due to the interference, otherwise, he might not have died so easily.

The monk before him was most likely a true inheritor of the Awakened. The Awakened's cultivation based on cause and effect certainly required an inheritor. According to Jiang Li's observations, Hui Lun and Hui Neng weren't involved in this path, leaving only this one.

— The King Zhuanlun of Buddha Country.

The Awakened's trust in the King Zhuanlun and Jiang Li's own observations convinced him that this high-ranking ghost cultivator of Buddha Country hadn't lost his way. Instead, he received the true inheritance of the Awakened.

Jiang Li even knew more; he was well aware that the Dao Fruit of a Great Bodhisattva in the Buddhist sect was extremely suitable for the King Zhuanlun.

Perhaps, after the Awakened, it would be him leading Buddha Country.

Jiang Li looked deeply at the King Zhuanlun and said, "Since you don't wish to discuss these matters, let's get to the point. I have two purposes for seeking you today."

"First, I wish to ask if the King Zhuanlun has received any residual spirits of those who died from the Drought Demon Ba."

"Second, I intend to use this Yin World to communicate with another Yin World across realms."

"Died from the Drought Demon Ba?" The King Zhuanlun seemed surprised, his voice tinged with astonishment.

With a thought, the six-path roulette behind him started to spin, showcasing its myriad transformations.

After a moment, the King Zhuanlun shook his head and said, "Not a single one died from the Drought Demon Ba. Perhaps their souls couldn't escape the Drought Fire, utterly scattered, or maybe they were completely eroded by the Five Vile Qi. However, if the Drought Demon Ba truly wreaked havoc, the dead wouldn't just be in the thousands. Certainly, there would've been some residual spirits attracted through the Yin World. Besides, the monks of Buddha Country wouldn't have missed such an event."

Yet, the fact was that the King Zhuanlun hadn't guided in any spirits related to the Drought Demon Ba, nor had the monks of Buddha Country reported any such matters.

The Drought Demon Ba, which crossed Kunxu Mountain heading west, had mysteriously vanished.

A not-so-pleasant suspicion arose in Jiang Li's mind.

He was a person of utmost caution and suspicion. Upon detecting anomalies, his first thought was always of his enemies.

"Let's proceed with the second matter. I wish to connect with the other Yin World," Jiang Li said, setting aside his concerns for the moment.

The King Zhuanlun didn't object, gesturing for Jiang Li to proceed, "Please, Benefactor, feel free to act."

Connecting with the Yin World benefited the King Zhuanlun as well. Just the exchange of Yin Qi could enrich both sides' Yin Soil.

Over the past hundred years, the King Zhuanlun had sensed the existence of the other Yin World but, knowing it belonged to the Yin Law Department, had refrained from making any undue moves.

However, today would see a change to that situation.

Jiang Li's hands mirrored each other, and within his palms appeared half of a broken Heavenly Mirror. The sky-like reflective surface illuminated the space ahead, penetrating directly into the void.

Jiang Li's divine sense seemed to move out, traveling through the void with the mirror's light. In reality, his mind stayed in place, yet his divine sense felt as though it was moving.

The Heavenly Mirror not only facilitated power transmission but also allowed for the long-distance transfer of divine sense without leaving any trace.

Just as he sent out his divine sense, Jiang Li sensed the presence of the other side's Yin World.

He immediately dismissed the thought that it was simply due to the power of the Heavenly Mirror.

Only because Jiang Li noticed that not only was he searching for the other Yin World, but the other side was also searching for his current location.

This time, it seemed both actions were miraculously occurring at the same time.

Jiang Li wished to break through the Earth Uncle's barrier, while the Earth Uncle sought to locate the place Jiang Li currently occupied while maintaining the seal.

But today, this situation was about to change.
