Immortal Creed

Chapter 226: Stop the War

"Everyone, can you give me face and temporarily cease fire?"

Accompanying a wide-ranging holy light, Bishop Roxana appeared on the battlefield.

Her gentle voice, along with the healing holy light, descended upon everyone on the battlefield, and some soldiers who had suffered fatal injuries temporarily halted the loss of their Life.

Soon after, a group of nuns and priests rushed into the battlefield without a word, beginning emergency treatment for the wounded on the ground, including several priests.

Seeing this, the soldiers on the field looked at each other, unsure whether their longswords should continue to swing.

The Heavenly Light was not only healing bodies but also "healing" minds; every soldier illuminated by the Heavenly Light felt their mind clear, and the rationality influenced by the battlefield returned.

They regained their desire for Life, looking at the corpses scattered across the battlefield and the pervasive, unspeakable stench of blood, feeling a trace of pity and fear in their hearts.

Pity for the passing of their comrades, and fear of becoming one of them.

"Bishop Roxana, is the Church determined to participate in this war?"

"Your actions will affect our judgment of the Church's stance and may cause the Church to become the next Adventurers' Guild. Please think twice."

"The Earl does not wish to act against the Church."

Leinajin looked at Bishop Roxana, his brows tightly furrowed, and spoke with a cold tone.

He truly couldn't understand why the Church, which had always maintained neutrality and observed the situation from the sidelines, would choose to intervene in the war at such a critical moment.

"Enough people have died tonight. I don't want to see more Life lost, and at the same time, I want to preserve some vital forces for this city to cope with future external threats."

"As for Liens, he… is dead."

"What?!"

Leinajin exclaimed, his pupils instantly widening, and he fell into a daze, as if Bishop Roxana's voice just now was too deafening, causing him to lose his perception of the outside world.

Time rewound a bit.

On the city wall, Monica gazed at the distant outskirts, noticing that the intense commotion there had ceased for a while.

Remembering Bishop Roxana's instructions, she immediately used a divine spell to contact the bishop in the Church: "Bishop, the commotion you asked me to observe seems to have stopped."

"Wait a moment, don't dispel the sound transmission divine spell… I'll assess the situation first before giving you the next instruction."

After speaking, Bishop Roxana's voice no longer emanated from the misty light cluster in Monica's hand, and Monica diligently maintained the divine spell, silently awaiting the bishop's instructions.

Church of Heavenly Light.

Bishop Roxana, with a serious expression, quickly came to the balcony, her body facing southwest, seemingly gazing at the situation thousands of meters away.

"Eye of God."

Bishop Roxana's lips parted slightly, uttering a murmur.

Soon after, a blurry, pale white phantom appeared behind Bishop Roxana, and at the same time, her eyes emitted a brilliant, gem-like glow.

Relying on her own strength and the Church's blessing on divine spells, Bishop Roxana used a high-tier divine spell to observe the battlefield thousands of meters away.

The camera quickly zoomed in, and Bishop Roxana saw the headless body, as well as the blood-soaked "corpse" lying on the other side, its specific appearance no longer discernible, as if it too had died.

But through the "Eye of God," she could clearly perceive the still active spirit and elements on that "corpse," though its vital signs were somewhat weak.

Finally, she saw that "corpse" bravely raise its head and look at her, seemingly making eye contact with her from thousands of meters away.

Interrupting the divine spell, Bishop Roxana breathed a sigh of relief, alleviating the dual exhaustion of her body and spirit, then immediately used the misty light cluster in her hand to contact Monica on the other side.

"Monica, quickly head over there. There's an injured patient waiting for your treatment."

"Understood, Bishop."

Monica's serious voice sounded, and then the sound transmission divine spell dissipated.

"I didn't expect this…"

Bishop Roxana gazed into the distance; although she could no longer see the scene there, it didn't diminish the shock in her heart at this moment.

Initially, her anticipated outcome was for Earl Bard to win and defeat the young man, but only to defeat him, because an Extraordinary One of that level is very difficult to stop if he wants to escape.

However, the development of the situation was completely beyond her expectation; the outcome of that battle was one dead and one injured, and the one who died was Earl Bard.

It was truly too surprising.

"Since the outcome is already decided, it's time to stop the war within the city. Continuing to fight will only cause more innocent people to die."

"It's just that this intervention will greatly accelerate my departure… Sigh."

Bishop Roxana sighed, then turned and walked quickly out of the Church. This was her first time leaving the Church since the outbreak of chaos.

...

On the other side.

The distant outskirts were a mess, with craters and cracks everywhere on the ground.

"The gaze just now… it was so subtle, I almost didn't perceive it."

"Who was it? Was it the God of Absolute Fairness, or the Bishop of the Heavenly Light Church? Or perhaps the demon I sensed earlier?"

Liens pondered in his mind, a hint of urgency appearing on his blood-soaked face.

He couldn't be sure whether the owner of the gaze had malicious intent, and in his current state, let alone a second-tier strong person, even an ordinary person would have a chance to kill him.

It was only under the circumstances at the time that using "Extreme Wind" allowed him to turn the tide, otherwise, he truly didn't want to use "Extreme Wind" and put himself in such a dangerous situation.

Enduring the triple pressure on his will from the weakness of his body, spirit, and even his mind, Liens controlled the wind to slowly move himself beside Earl Bard's corpse, carefully sensing and searching, then again used the wind to unfasten Earl Bard's belt.

Don't misunderstand, he didn't have any particular thoughts about Earl Bard's corpse; he just wanted to get what he needed from Earl Bard.

And that item was probably placed on this black belt, which had an elemental reaction.

"Indeed."

After some searching, Liens controlled a bit of spiritual power to enter the special space located by the belt.

The space wasn't large, roughly the size of a box with a volume of about 0.1 cubic meters, like a void with boundaries, and some items floated in this void.

The current Liens was no longer illiterate in the Extraordinary field; after scanning with his spiritual power, he had a general understanding of the items floating in the void.

"It's water of Life!"

Outside, Liens couldn't help but show a surprised expression on his face; this item was extremely precious.

The reason he recognized it at a glance was also because this treasure could restore the human body's origin of Life.

He had seen it in Marvin's alchemy book back then, and at the time, he even fantasized that if he was lucky enough to get a bottle someday, it would greatly increase his lifespan, but he never expected to get it today.

However, Liens did not immediately take out that bottle of water of Life.

Besides restoring the human body's origin of Life, that item could also immediately restore most of the human body's injuries; saying it could bring the dead back to Life and regrow flesh on bones was not an exaggeration.

Because of his experience in Hughes Town, his current lifespan was still sufficient; he could live for several more decades, so there was no need to rush to use such a Life-saving item.

Liens took out a bottle of high-grade Healing Potion from the void and consumed it. As the potion took effect, a vibrant green light of Life also appeared on his body.

By the time Monica arrived at the scene, Liens had already emerged from his weakest state.
