Jimmy finished watching the news and felt terrible. He grabbed a bottle of Whiskey and poured himself a big glass, downing it in one go.
This is going to be a bit of a hassle. The higher-ups in the office had a great idea to gradually push me to the forefront while I'm stationed at the Public Affairs Office, no longer doing fieldwork. This is their way of rewarding me for going to Florida in the middle of the night.
But Dave and the others probably didn't consider the consequences. Although I've handled many cases before, many are not suitable for public disclosure. And these TV journalists definitely won't be content with just knowing my name. Now that I'm in the spotlight, my past will surely be dug up. It depends on how capable they are at digging.
Nia got home from working overtime, and as soon as she walked in and saw Jimmy slumped on the sofa, she didn't stop smiling. "Sweetheart, what's going on with the video in today's news?"
Jimmy didn't even bother to get up. "It was shot when I was attacked before. The news played it once, but they didn't broadcast my name that time.
The office had previously suppressed several media interview requests and didn't allow them to use my name, so things were stable for a long time. Now I've joined the Public Affairs Office and attended a press conference, so it's public information. I really regret making a public appearance. How did they find that video!?"
Jimmy grabbed a pillow and covered his face with it. "Ah~~" A muffled sound came out through the pillow, making Nia laugh even harder.
Nia sat directly on top of Jimmy. "Alright, alright, what's done is done. What can you do about it now?"
Jimmy: "I'm considering taking a couple of days off until this blows over."
Nia reached out and patted Jimmy's face. "Don't overthink it. I bet the media won't just release this stuff; there's bound to be other content from their investigation. They might keep reporting, so you'd better go back early and communicate well with others."
Jimmy had a look of utter despair. "How much worse can it get? I was practically naked on camera."
Nia: "It's no big deal. I've seen it plenty; I don't mind if others see it too."
Jimmy pulled her down onto him. "You might not care, but I do."

The next day, Jimmy still went to work as usual. However, today he didn't wear a suit but instead switched to casual attire and took out the cowboy hat he hadn't worn in a long time before heading out.
Leaving the parking lot, Jimmy put on his cowboy hat and sunglasses and entered the elevator. This look was quite rare in the Federation agency building. "Nice hat." Jimmy nodded with a smile as he exited the elevator on the Public Affairs Office floor and walked into the office area.
"Morning, Jimmy." The receptionist girl greeted Jimmy with a smile as she saw him walk in. Even though Jimmy had changed his clothes and was wearing a hat and sunglasses, those who were familiar with him could still recognize him.
"Morning, Allison." Jimmy raised his hand to greet her. Just as he was about to go in, he heard the receptionist girl, Allison, say, "Nice body, you look great on camera."
Jimmy almost tripped. Really, don't you girls have better things to do at night than watch the news?
He didn't reply, just waved his hand and headed toward his office.
Isabel saw Jimmy arrive and got up to come over, knocking on his door. With a smile on her face, she said, "Didn't know you have such a nice body."
Jimmy took off his hat and let out a big sigh towards the ceiling, lightly groaned, and then looked at Isabel. "I knew nothing good would come from going public. Who knew they would dig up the old videos so quickly."
Isabel chuckled twice before collecting herself. "They already knew a long time ago. Yes, don't look at me like that, I'm telling the truth."
Jimmy: "Impossible. The earliest video was from two years ago. You were already stopping them from publishing my name back then?"
Isabel: "Oh, those videos? It wasn't us who did that back then; you should thank Hughes."
Jimmy nodded. "I can imagine. Sigh, I don't know whether going public this time will go sideways. Those journalists are really good at digging into privacy."
Isabel: "Don't worry. Unless big things happen, they'll give us a heads-up beforehand. They won't casually put out our people's privacy, if only to get more stories from us later on."
Jimmy clapped his hands. "Great, then I'm relieved. Any other tasks coming up?"
Isabel: "There won't be any press conferences for now. There are some collaborative public events with other agencies and a few campus tours. Interested?"
Jimmy waved his hand. "Forget it. I'd better stay quietly in the office for now."
Isabel: "Understandable. Alright, I'll see if there's anything suitable for you and let you know."
Jimmy: "Thanks."
Isabel left Jimmy's office. He took the hat from the table and hung it on the coatrack nearby. His phone rang.
Jimmy: "Hi, James."
James: "Jimmy, we're already at the airport. If everything goes smoothly, we'll arrive in New York tonight."
Jimmy: "Wow, that's great news. Mary's with you, right?"
James: "Of course, we're coming directly from Europe to New York."
Jimmy: "No problem, I'll arrange everything. I'll pick you up tonight. Send me your flight number."
