Jimmy: "I guess he won't be troubling me, will he?"
Caitlin shook her head, "No, nobody knows who did it."
Jimmy: "OK, as long as the news doesn't leak, nobody should know it was me. Right now, only you know the specifics..."
Caitlin: "You can rest easy. I need to take care of Tony's death, the location of the passage?"
Jimmy picked up a pen from the table and wrote two GPS coordinates on a napkin, "This is their contact house, it has their weapons cache, and this is the entrance of the tunnel."
He casually handed over a bag containing evidence to Caitlin, "This is theirs, I'm leaving it to you."
Caitlin nodded, handed the bag to the woman behind her, and slipped the napkin with the coordinates into her own bag, "You don't need to worry about things here, I'll handle them. You can go back first."
Jimmy: "Are you sure you don't need my involvement? I'm worried about Tony's boss..."
Caitlin waved her hand dismissively, "Don't worry, I'll take care of it."
Jimmy nodded and stood up, "Then I'll be heading back. Goodbye, Caitlin, I wish you all the best."
Caitlin also stood up to shake hands with Jimmy and say goodbye, "Goodbye, safe travels."
Jimmy, carrying his spoils in a bag, left the café and drove off in Tony's car. Since he was carrying a bag that was quite inappropriate for any formal occasion, Jimmy did not plan to go to the airport but instead decided to drive away. He would ditch the car along the way and switch between a few others.
This haul was enough for him to splurge at will. He was now very familiar with how to secure a vehicle. As long as he had the cash, he could completely switch between different cars and return to Albuquerque silently and undetected.
Two days later, Jimmy successfully returned to Albuquerque, first putting the bag in the storage unit he had rented, taking out a suitcase appropriate for going out, and then as himself, he found a decent hotel to get some rest.
After all, Jimmy was officially in Albuquerque. It was important to note that Nia had just visited a few days ago. If he had gone directly from Laredo to Dallas or back to New York, it would not line up with his itinerary.
This was Jimmy's first time doing something like this, so to say he was completely unconcerned would be untrue. However, with the matter of Tony weighing on him the night before, he had dared not relax. Now, with Caitlin taking over the aftermath, and himself successfully and safely back in Albuquerque, his tense nerves finally loosened.
Jimmy lay slanted on the hotel bed, at last able to rest. Thinking back on his time since arriving in Albuquerque, aside from the two days he went out with Nia, he hadn't really relaxed, his mind always somewhat tense. Now that everything was over, he could finally take a good rest.
Upon reflecting on everything that occurred during this period, Jimmy suddenly realized he had made a mistake.
The phone number Tom had given him got him in touch with Steven of the DEA, who indeed provided help to Jimmy, leading to Tim's downfall. But Jimmy had not shown any gratitude, which was not right.
Using Tom's connections was part of his plan, but relying purely on favors without providing appropriate reciprocal rewards was not secure. The dealings between them had to be mutually beneficial.
Jimmy felt annoyed. If he had not reviewed his actions now, he might have really left Albuquerque without making good use of the connections Tom had given him.
Jimmy opened his suitcase and rifled through it. All the dirty money was stored in the warehouse; he had to make another trip there. Using Steven's help in finding Tim was not a big deal, so Jimmy had not prepared much, merely putting a bundle of paper money in two brown paper bags, meticulously folding them, and placing them in his bag.
After finding Steven's cellphone number, he asked about his evening plans. Jimmy went back to the hotel to rest, and later changed into his sports clothes and headed to the boxing club where Steven trained.
Jimmy had been training for a while when Steven finally came in, greeted Jimmy, went to change his clothes, and came out to warm up.
Steven: "Jimmy, care for a match?"
Jimmy smiled and nodded. Although he was a rookie who had only learned the basics, Steven was not a professional boxer, so Jimmy figured there wouldn't be any problems.
Steven had been training for a while and was naturally more fluid than Jimmy. But Jimmy was younger, and to him, all of Steven's moves seemed slow motion, so he defended perfectly.
"Holy shit! Jimmy, how long have you been training?"
After several rounds of offence from Steven with no success in breaking through Jimmy's guard, which was too tight, Steven stopped the onslaught. His movements were quick, and barely did he make a move, Jimmy was ready to block. It felt less like a fight and more like a coach sparring with him.
Steven couldn't continue. This was too much of a blow to his confidence; he hung up his gloves on the rail, "Who did you learn from?"
Jimmy shook his arms out, "I just started learning the other day, but I haven't practiced offense, so I can only defend the whole time."
Steven shook his head, "Ah, you can't deny aging, I guess. Surely, you younger guys pick things up faster. Anyway, that's enough for today."
Steven bit down on his gloves to take them off, stepped down from the ring, and prepared to head back to the changing room, with Jimmy following behind.
In the empty changing room, Jimmy opened his locker, looked around, and then, with a bag in hand, approached Steven's locker, "Steven, your people had a hard time following. Please thank them for me."
