Jimmy really had a headache now; he had thought there were only three to five people, but now there were ten people within his "Heart Eye" range, including the three in Tim's car.
Not all of these people were just carrying handguns. He had already seen three AR15s, presumably the civilian semi-automatic versions since he noticed no signs of automatic fire. Another person was using a shotgun, the model of which was unclear. The others all had handguns, which wasn't a particularly big problem.
Jimmy crouched next to the front of the car, using the hubcap and the engine as his only cover. He dared not crouch anywhere else; the firepower of the AR15s could easily penetrate the car body. This car was just a random second-hand purchase, not an armored vehicle.
He glanced left and right. The nearest large rock was three meters away, and running to it involved a significant risk. Jimmy watched the person closest to him, and the moment he showed his face from behind the rock, Jimmy shot him dead with a headshot.
Jimmy was pinned down by their gunfire and couldn't get up. The kill he just made was from a side shot around the front of the car; now, he could only keep an eye on these men and take advantage of the sparse moments of cover fire to immediately stand and shoot.
This time, he didn't focus on the nearest man but instead aimed at someone about thirty or forty meters away holding an AR15. The distance was a bit far. Jimmy lifted his gun about an inch and fired two shots, then immediately crouched down again as bullets whizzed over his head, and the front of the car was peppered with bullets because he had peeked out, causing those who had stopped shooting to start again, but this time there was one fewer.
The consecutive deaths of two companions made those surrounding Jimmy even more cautious. They stopped encircling him and instead chose nearby cover, and then the gunfire stopped.
Jimmy didn't give them a chance to regroup. Taking advantage of a moment when someone peeked out to check his position, he fired directly, then shot several times at the rock where Tim and his group were hiding, suppressing the three people behind it, and then continued to crouch and aim at others.
Tim was definitely going to die, but it was better if that happened later. His losses from coming to Albuquerque this time were huge. Justin had paid out fourteen Gold Coins for him; he needed to make that back here. Scott's group was definitely at a loss; now it all depended on Tim.
Jimmy hid behind the car and moved up to the rear wheel, a person carrying an AR15 had just changed his magazine and was now aiming at the front of Jimmy's car. Jimmy saw his exposed side and fired a shot. When the man moved aside after being hit and exposed his head, Jimmy's bullet met him.
With another person dead, Tim's group was starting to panic. He heard them shout something in a language he didn't understand, and they opened fire on Jimmy's car again while also speeding up their encirclement of his position.
This situation was ideal for Jimmy; if they kept hiding, he dared not chase them out, and both sides would just wait it out. Now that they had come out and were encircling him, they were mere targets for Jimmy.
Jimmy lay down sideways on the ground and fired from the side rear of the car, emptying the magazine of his Glock, and all three gunmen on the right returned to their fated places.
This Glock had been picked up from Scott and his group. For covert operations like this, he definitely couldn't use his regular service pistol as it was too easy to leave traces.
After changing the magazine, Jimmy crawled to the front of the car, where only Tim and two others remained. Tim didn't seem intent on continuing the firefight; he simply pulled open the car door, ready to get in. Seeing his actions, the other two also ran to the car.
Jimmy couldn't let him escape; his own car had taken dozens of bullets and certainly couldn't be driven. If he let Tim drive away, there would be no way to chase them later.
Watching their position, Jimmy immediately got up, fired several shots at the two running men, then ran towards Tim. It was only a dozen meters away. When he reached the car, Tim had just started it, and it hadn't picked up speed yet.
Jimmy simply stood and forcibly emptied his magazine at the driver's seat. After the car lurched forward and then veered up a small hill, it turned and rolled down, eventually crashing into a nearby ditch.
Jimmy could finally catch his breath—the Glock had no bullets left, and he had only one spare magazine. He picked up a handgun from one of the men on the ground, fired a shot just to be sure, and then walked toward the wrecked car.
Fortunately, the ditch wasn't too deep, just over two meters. With the car resting there, he should be able to climb back up after getting down; if not, he'd have to circle around below.
Jimmy carefully jumped down. Tim, when getting in the car, clearly hadn't bothered to buckle his seatbelt and was now completely sprawled over the steering wheel and center console, away from his seat. Seeing the blood on him and the front of the car, it was clear there was no saving him. Jimmy reached down to check his carotid artery and could barely feel it anymore.
Done, he couldn't interrogate a dead man, and this was a complete loss. Jimmy put on gloves and quickly searched Tim and the car, throwing everything onto the ground, then climbed onto the car and opened the trunk to get Tim's luggage out.
He threw the suitcase on the ground, tossing the clothes out directly onto the ground, and found a few bricks and some cash underneath. That was all the gains.
Jimmy packed the items he had searched from Tim into the suitcase; these were all to be taken away. Except for the cash, which he planned to keep for himself, the rest would be left for Steven as payment.
