North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 742: 457 Departing Albuquerque

Katherine Prado had no doubt earned her position as a senior executive. Although it was challenging to investigate information at headquarters, it was not impossible due to her connections.

She was aware of the Stumbling Block plan, and by starting the investigation from there and going back a few years in records, she was nearly able to tie together the clues. The details Katherine investigated were similar to what Tom had told Jimmy, but they were more detailed.

It was the same Rick, only now with additional details about the Stumbling Block plan, which included experiments to enhance physical and mental abilities with drugs, the control group circumstances of Jimmy's predecessor, and also additional content related to the exposure of this plan, namely content concerning Burke and Watson.

Jimmy had already confirmed that the plan to eliminate everyone involved in Stumbling Block came from Rick, so what was left was simple. Although he had already stopped the elimination operation, it did not mean that Jimmy couldn't seek revenge, the fact that Katherine provided this information clearly had this implication; since she had almost taken the blame, she wanted the mastermind behind the scenes to suffer the consequences.

After confirming that all the information was about these contents, Jimmy destroyed all the materials. He had memorized them and there was no need to keep them; leaking them would also be a problem. As for the brand-new laptop he had just bought, he decided to keep it, as it would be nice to browse the internet to pass the time during breaks.

The next morning, Jimmy received a call from Justin, and it wasn't long before he arrived at Jimmy's room.

Justin started off by complaining about a few things like lack of sleep, the trouble of having to take a taxi from the airport since he didn't pick him up, but then, seeing the money in the bag, he immediately lost any complaints.

Jimmy told Justin to take the money away and launder it, and then return it to him, the loss would of course be deducted from this batch of money.

This was certainly an unexpected fortune for Justin—it wasn't a big deal for him to take a trip to Houston to make money. Besides, for him, there was absolutely no need to carry the money back to Little Rock, his connections were more than enough to take care of it in Houston.

Jimmy chose Justin because of this; Justin was quite reliable, at least for now, he knew people who could handle this mound of green without causing trouble, and that was Justin.

He could consider taking the money back to New York; bars are naturally good places for laundering money, the only issue would be ensuring they keep secrets, which was relatively troublesome.

Jimmy and Justin carried the bag downstairs, put it into Jimmy's car; since Justin had flown in, he of course didn't have a car, and driving Jimmy's car was perfect for destroying the vehicle and eliminating traces.

Jimmy went back to his hotel room to pack up, took his luggage and the laptop he had just bought, and left; this time he was travelling light, once he reached New Mexico, he would naturally find a way to get a new vehicle.

Yes, Jimmy planned to go directly to New Mexico, although Hobbs was closer to Houston, if Jimmy were to drive there, it would still take a long time.

The issue was that he still didn't know what Tim looked like; from the information he had investigated, including the DEA files from Torsten and others, Tim had no photos.

The current information didn't meet his investigative requirements. Although Hobbs City was not large, without support, intelligence, or photos, he simply had no way of searching; unless he started from the ground up, it would take a long time and would also expose his presence.

Jimmy went to the airport and flew directly to Albuquerque. After leaving the airport, he used his phone's GPS to call a cab and arrived near his target, then checked into a hotel.

His target this time was suspected mastermind Scott Coleman from Albany, whose wife said he was in Los Angeles, California, but his mobile phone had always been in Albuquerque, which was the major suspicion.

Fortunately, this Scott had a photo; the mobile positioning confirmed his range, right in this block. Jimmy stood at the hotel room window and looked out; the buildings here were not tall, and most of the commercial buildings had large ground-level parking lots. Although the environment was poorer than in Little Rock, drier, with fewer green plants, the architecture didn't differ too much.

Now located in downtown, this block had only a couple of high-rise buildings on either side. Saying they were high-rises, they were actually about four or five stories tall, surrounded by some residential houses. A bit farther, most buildings were one to two stories tall. Compared to the closely packed high-rises of New York, this place was far too spacious.

Jimmy asked the front desk for a map, sat by the window looking at the map while occasionally observing the pedestrians and vehicles downstairs. The weather was really too hot; outside Albuquerque lay a desolate desert landscape, sparse vegetation, and a desert climate—hot, dry, with rare rainfall, temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius in summer weren't uncommon.

Jimmy observed the passersby and vehicles, mainly to determine what kind of clothes and car he should get to blend in. However, after some time observing, he was somewhat frustrated; from leaving the airport till now, he had only seen a few Asian faces, and they appeared to be from Southeast Asia, which still differed somewhat from his Chinese appearance.
