North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 740: 456 Positioning_2

Jimmy got out of the car, walked to the riverbank, and turned his head to look at Davis inside the car. Davis had been very quiet throughout the journey and showed no intentions of escaping.

Although Jimmy had never been particularly interested in dealing with drug traffickers—disposing of them casually was common—Davis was a high-ranking officer, and it seemed wasteful to simply kill him off.

Jimmy took out an unregistered phone and dialed Lambert.

Despite it being midnight, Lambert answered the phone quickly, "Who is this?"

Jimmy: "Do you have a secure line?"

Lambert recognized Jimmy's voice, "I'll get back to you."

A few minutes later, a call came in, "You can talk now."

Jimmy: "I've captured Azte's man in charge of Houston. The goods from Dallas were also supplied by him. I've obtained the information I needed. Do you want this guy?"

Lambert was silent for a while, "Where is he?"

Jimmy: "In his car, out in the wild."

Lambert: "What are your thoughts?"

Jimmy: "It depends on whether you need him, even a piece of toilet paper can be useful."

Lambert: "Your identity?"

Jimmy: "A Triad assassin from California."

Lambert: "Keep him. I'll have someone contact you. Can you handle it?"

Jimmy, looking at Davis inside the car, "Yes, he's under control. He values his family a lot."

Lambert: "Someone will call you shortly. Hand him over to them."

Jimmy nodded, "Understood."

Jimmy hung up the phone, walked to the car, opened the back door, "Get out."

Davis, appearing relaxed, moved out and walked to the front of the car, "Can I have a cigarette? I smell smoke."

Jimmy checked the zip ties on Davis' hands, which were still intact, took out his pack of cigarettes, pulled one out, put it in Davis' mouth, and lit it for him.

Davis took a drag and exhaled the smoke, "Thanks, I have to say it again, you are a good man. Do it."

Jimmy, watching Davis' back, said, "Mo, you are a man. I can give you a chance."

Davis didn't turn around, "No need, as long as my family is safe. Do it."

Jimmy sighed, "At least let you finish your cigarette, no need to rush."

The two of them stood, one in front of the other, and after a while, Jimmy's phone vibrated and he answered, "Where are you?"

Jimmy: "North of the airport, by the Spring River."

"Fifteen minutes."

The caller hung up, and Jimmy said to Davis, "Mo, turn around. You are a man, and I made a decision for you, to save your life."

Davis, looking at Jimmy, couldn't see his face in the dark environment but knew that even at night, while driving, Jimmy never took off his sunglasses and was still wearing them now.

Davis: "Why?"

Jimmy: "Family. I appreciate your attitude towards your family. Someone will come to pick you up shortly."

Davis fell silent, "Are you asking me to be an inside man?"

Jimmy: "No, in fact, I don't even know what will happen next. I am just a handgun; what the hand holding the gun wants to do is not something I can know.

I hope you can accept this kindness. Your daughter also needs a father to have breakfast with her, take her to school, and protect her from the elements."

Davis remained silent, stood thinking for a while, then his legs gave way, and he dropped to the ground, before struggling to sit up.

Jimmy didn't reach out to help him up; sitting on the ground was fine.

A bit later, Jimmy's phone rang again, and simultaneously, the sound of a car approached. Jimmy walked a bit away; the call led that car to him.

A man got out of the car, which didn't turn off the headlights

He came to the front, standing in front of Jimmy: "Where is he?"

Jimmy gestured with his head: "In front of the car, Mo Davis, real name Morry Davies. He's yours now."

The man nodded, and together with Jimmy, they approached Davis. The man reached out to pull Davis up and walked him to his car. Davis took a few steps, then stopped, turned to Jimmy, said "Thank you," then turned and followed the man into his car, which then turned and drove away.

Jimmy watched Davis' car, then drove back to Olden, parked on the side of the road, cleaned any traces, took his briefcase, found his own car, and drove back to the hotel.

In the morning, Jimmy routinely called Nia to report his safety and then went out for breakfast, heading straight to Davis' warehouse. The previous day, while organizing his briefcase, he had taken the keys.

In the car, Jimmy also called the Anti-Terrorism Bureau to see if Caitlin, the acting director, had returned. Since her return to Langley, Jimmy had called a few times but she hadn't been back, and he hadn't managed to get her private number, which was a disadvantage.

Surprisingly, after Jimmy made the call, the other side verified his identity and quickly notified him that his call was being transferred.

Caitlin: "Jimmy, what's the matter?"

Jimmy: "Ms. Prado, have your investigations concluded?"

Caitlin: "There's been some progress, come over and we'll talk."

Jimmy: "Sorry, I'm not in New York right now, I'm on a business trip elsewhere."

Caitlin: "Then why did you call? "

Jimmy: "I need your help locating two phone numbers."

Caitlin was silent for a few seconds: "OK."

Jimmy reported the numbers he had obtained from Davis for Tim and Scott Coleman in Albany, New York State, then said goodbye and hung up. He turned to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau because investigating phone numbers through the FBI required a process, and Jimmy clearly didn't have the convenience right now.
