North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 736: 455 Immoral Threat

Jimmy's laugh was partly due to the unbelievable coincidence that he had just happened to encounter the murder suspect in the case Lambert had assigned to him, and more so because he was the one who had actually captured him. On the other hand, his laughter also carried a sense of helplessness. His original intention in taking the case was to provide a cover for his movements so he could have a reason to roam around freely; he believed this was also what Lambert had intended. Yet, the murderer showed up at just the moment when he had gotten a lead on Mo Davis and was preparing to look for him.

What to do now? As an FBI Senior Agent, Jimmy was very responsible. Since he had found the murderer, there was no way he could let him go; that would not be true to his profession.

Jimmy had the police take the suspect, while he followed them to the police station in his car. As for the suspect's car, a tow truck had already been arranged to take it away. Since this was a murder suspect, his car definitely needed to be brought back for a search.

While driving, Jimmy made a call to Lambert.

Lambert, "Jimmy, is the job done?"

Jimmy sighed on the phone, "Ah, bad luck, the job isn't done. But I bumped into the suspect for the case in Houston, Michael Newton. I'm now following the police to the station for an investigation."

Lambert was a bit slow to catch on, "You mean, the suspect in that murder case has been caught?"

Jimmy, "Yes, the one in that case."

There was silence on Lambert's end, and Jimmy didn't hurry him. Anyone would need time to think things over. Lambert had chosen this case precisely because it was expected to take a long time, which would be convenient for Jimmy's operations. How could he have caught the suspect so soon?

Lambert, "Jimmy, have the police hold the suspect for now; don't send him to jail. Keep an eye on him, and I'll arrange for Ray to take over."

Jimmy, "Understood. Have Ray contact me when he arrives."

Jimmy arrived at the police station with the police. Being an FBI agent, he wasn't subject to investigation, but his car and backpack wouldn't survive a thorough search. The car wasn't registered in his name, and his backpack contained the pistol he'd gotten from Dallas Bob the previous day. Jimmy had already discarded Dallas Bob's pistol after using it to kill so many people; it was a liability and he had dismantled and thrown it away long ago.

Once it was confirmed that the suspect would be held in the interrogation room, Jimmy said goodbye to the police and drove straight back to the hotel. He needed to retrieve the case files and, once Ray arrived in the afternoon, he was to hand them over for Ray to take back. With Lambert arranging for Ray to take over, Jimmy didn't even need to participate in the interrogation. It was sufficient for the police to confirm the fingerprints and identity.

Jimmy sat in the police station's lounge, waiting for Ray's arrival and also taking the time to consider his next steps.

Clearly, his excuse for transferring to Dallas was now showing holes, and without a valid reason, he might have to return to Dallas with Ray.

Now that he had a lead on Mo Davis, what remained was to find him and then "ask" for the whereabouts of the Azte second-in-command, Tim Spark.

Even the DEA and FBI didn't have the whereabouts of these gang leaders. It was unclear whether someone in the bureau was deliberately concealing them, or Azte just wasn't in their surveillance targets. Jimmy felt the former was more likely, as they didn't even have a clear photo of Tim.

It wasn't that there was no information at all, but without the latest information, the details registered in the system seemed outdated to Jimmy. Using that to locate Tim Spark would take more time and effort than he could manage alone. To achieve his goal, unless he called in manpower and coordinated with multiple departments, but Jimmy's intention was vendetta, not apprehension.

After sitting for a while, it suddenly occurred to Jimmy that he was at the Houston police station. Why not have them help out? He was with the FBI; just checking some information should not require any special approval process.

After mulling it over, Jimmy approached the Sergeant who had received him earlier and made his request, asking if he could help check the local system for someone named Mo Davis.

The Sergeant thought for a moment, then left his desk. After a while, he returned, nodded, and began searching the system. Mo Davis was not found, so Jimmy provided another name, Danny Davis, and this time the search was successful. However, Danny Davis' records showed that although he was born in Houston, he was not currently there. He had opened a bar in Dallas.

In terms of family relations, they found a person named Morry Davies, Danny's brother. Clearly, the name Jimmy had previously provided was incorrect.

Morry's registered address was in Upper City, Yorkton, Houston. Jimmy noted down the address and phone number, thanked the Sergeant, and returned to the lounge to continue waiting for Ray.

The photo of Morry Davies in the system was an ID photo that looked quite young, and he also had blond hair, which didn't match the information Jimmy had gotten from the small-time hoodlums. But that wasn't a major issue; it was easy for someone with hair to become bald, and he'd just go take a look when he had the time.

In the afternoon, Ray finally arrived at Houston, bringing another agent with him, probably to facilitate prisoner transport. Jimmy and Ray hugged and greeted each other, after which Jimmy handed over the case files. "Alright, he's all yours now."

Ray passed the files to his colleague and told him, "Go take care of the paperwork and get the guy to the car." He then looked at Jimmy, "Let's go outside and talk."
