The police officer on the left confirmed Jimmy's identity, returned his ID, and only then did the officer on the right move his hand away from the gun grip. "Are you on a mission?"
Jimmy, "Yes. I'm good to go, right?"
The policemen waved their hands, returned to the patrol car, and Jimmy looked toward the spot where Bob had vanished. Because of this delay, he had completely lost sight of him. He started the car, drove forward, turned at the intersection, and still couldn't see Bob anywhere. It seemed he must have entered one of the nearby buildings.
Jimmy parked his car on the side of the road and saw from the rearview mirror that the police car was stopped at the intersection, not going away. It appeared that his plans were thwarted for the day, so Jimmy left the area and went back to the hotel to rest.
Jimmy rested only briefly. As soon as it was daylight, he went out again, returning to the spot where Bob had disappeared to continue his surveillance. Fortunately, there were plenty of cars parked along the road, and Jimmy's car didn't stand out at all.
Following and surveillance were the most troublesome tasks. Jimmy wasn't part of a professional surveillance team. He lacked professional tracking training, the teamwork of a surveillance group, or even surveillance equipment, so he had to endure. The most frustrating part was losing the target after being hassled by the police in the early hours, which was more painful than if he had just abducted the person on the spot.
After waiting a while, Jimmy first went to have breakfast and bought a coffee to continue his surveillance. It wasn't until the afternoon that he saw one of Bob's underlings coming out of an apartment building.
That must be the place. Energy surged through Jimmy, and he got out of the car immediately, took out a pack of cigarettes, and while taking a cigarette, he used Heart Eye Observation to check the situation inside the building, then stood on the sidewalk to smoke.
After waiting a bit longer, the underling came back carrying two cups of coffee and a bag of takeout. Jimmy didn't follow him but watched through Heart Eye as he went up to the second floor and entered a room. Jimmy had confirmed that there was only one person inside that room, lying in bed and sleeping. It looked like Bob couldn't escape; that had to be him.
Jimmy didn't wait any longer. He returned to his car, took out cable ties, and went straight up the stairs, putting on disposable gloves as he went—these two items he always carried with him for convenience.
It was clear that the underling's hands were full earlier, and he hadn't locked the door but merely left it ajar as he entered the room. Jimmy reached the door, drew out his Glock, and pushed the door open with the side of his hand, pointing the gun at the underling, "Don't move, don't speak."
The underling was a bit stunned but obediently raised his hands.
"Turn around, hands behind your back." Jimmy ordered while keeping an eye on Bob in the bedroom, who was clearly still asleep.
Jimmy walked over, secured the underling's hands with the cable ties, stuffed a piece of clothing into his mouth, and had him sit on the sofa. Only then did he approach the bedroom. Bob was still sleeping in bed, which was perfect. Jimmy went straight to him, held the gun to Bob's forehead, covered his mouth, and Bob jolted awake immediately, making "mmph mmph" noises as he struggled.
"Stay quiet if you don't want to die," Jimmy whispered, waiting for Bob to stop struggling and realize the situation before releasing his mouth.
"Get dressed. No talking." Jimmy directed Bob to get dressed, then secured him with cable ties. Jimmy took Bob's phone, keys, and handgun from the nightstand, putting them into his pocket, and then escorted Bob out of the bedroom and downstairs.
Fortunately, though it was afternoon and there was still quite a bit of traffic and pedestrians, Jimmy managed to get Bob into the back seat of the car and drive away smoothly.
