North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 697: The 439 attacks are still ongoing.

When Jimmy returned to the office, Hughes was already seated there.

Jimmy, "Hey, Hughes, good morning."

Hughes nodded, "Morning, let's have a meeting once Mahong and the rest arrive."

Jimmy nodded and settled back into his own work routine.

After a while, Ruiz also came over, followed by Mahong entering the office. With five people in one office, the sofa was a lost cause, so everyone pulled up chairs and gathered around.

Hughes shared all the information he had received from DC and his analysis of the situation, indicating that the case had gone beyond his own control.

Previously, considering the risk of Jimmy going berserk, the matter of the mole had been handled entirely by Ruiz. Now that the mastermind behind the scenes was almost certain, it was just a matter of locating this person, so it was better for everyone to work together.

The key was that Jimmy was indispensable. To avoid any leaks, they indeed needed someone with Jimmy's combat ability. One man was worth a SWAT team, and with his involvement, the efficiency of the capture would be greatly increased.

Having shared his thoughts, everyone pondered. Regarding the question of why the attacker of Jimmy was alone, no one had a good conclusion. Based on the current evidence, it could only be said that Scott Coleman might be a little delusional, believing one retired soldier could be a match for several gangsters, which would explain why he only sent one person.

Jimmy, "Still, something doesn't add up. That day, I was followed by three cars. Later, the NYPD investigated, and their license plates were fakes. Also, no subsequent traces of them were found."

Hughes looked at Jimmy, "Three cars were tracking you? Are you sure?"

Jimmy, "Positive. I drove around Manhattan for an hour. From the moment I noticed them, they kept taking turns showing up behind me. Later, perhaps realizing we were setting up a net, they all took off."

Hughes's head was buzzing, "That doesn't make sense. If he arranged for only one person to attack last time, why were three people tracking you? With ample manpower, he wouldn't make such an unwise choice."

The expressions on Ruiz's and Mahong's faces were also very serious. Ruiz said, "Could there be a third party involved? Who are they? Jimmy, any thoughts?"

Jimmy waved his hand and then closed his eyes to think carefully. Was he being too confident in ruling out the CIA?

If the current evidence pointed to a third-party involvement, the CIA was indeed the most likely suspect. Jimmy had just offended Caitlin, and as a senior supervisor, sending an agent to their death wasn't out of the question.

Initially, Watson also had many agents under his command, and when he was dealing with the traitor Boxer, he had already lost several men before Jimmy arrived. Caitlin, who was of the same rank as Watson, couldn't possibly be without such agents at her disposal.

But this couldn't be discussed here, Jimmy's identity was still very sensitive. Jimmy opened his eyes and found Hughes and the others were all staring at him. Without revealing anything, Jimmy said, "Nothing, I was just recalling if I had offended anyone else. Let's continue."

Hughes, "Alright, let's move on. The clues we have now are an unregistered mobile number, a name, and the fact that his son died a few days ago. Mahong, look into this information as soon as possible and see if we can locate him. Jimmy, once we have the information, you'll track it down. Any problems with that?"

Jimmy shook his head, "None, as long as I have intelligence support."

Hughes, "Ruiz, make sure to keep an eye on the gangs, especially the Trinidad group. Pay close attention to whether Azte's people have come to New York."

Ruiz nodded, and Hughes clapped his hands, "Alright, that's it. Everyone, get to work."

Hughes and Ruiz left the office, Mahong returned to his desk to search for information, and Jimmy said to Mahong, "Mahong, I need to leave for a bit, there's something I need to check out."

Mahong glanced at Jimmy and nodded, "Be safe."

Jimmy, "I'm taking a company car out, it has bullet-proof doors, don't worry."

Mahong waved his hand and turned back to his computer screen. He knew Jimmy had his own ways to investigate certain matters, it was Jimmy's secret, and there was no need to inquire further.

Jimmy checked his three guns, a Glock, Python, and 1875, along with their respective spare bullets, making sure all was in order before heading downstairs. Mahong and the others were in awe of Jimmy equipping himself; a regular detective would never need so much gear.

Jimmy opened the trunk of the car, took out a Bullet-Proof Vest and put it on directly. He was preparing to confront whoever was behind the attack, suspecting it might be the CIA, so he made sure he was well-equipped.

Caitlin certainly wouldn't dare let him cause trouble inside the Anti-Terrorism Bureau, so meeting her would be safe. But once he left the building, there might not be an opportunity to change equipment.

Driving to the Anti-Terrorism Bureau, Jimmy registered downstairs and notified Deputy Director Caitlin. Once permission was granted, he went straight up. Of course, this time he wasn't alone; two security guards followed close behind. There was no helping it, Jimmy's appearance was quite over the top, dressed in a bullet-proof vest, with an FBI badge hanging on his neck, three handguns clearly displayed, effectively making quite a threat.

This was an intentional display by Jimmy; he was gambling on whether or not it was Caitlin who had arranged for the attack on him.

From the elevator to the outside of Caitlin's office, people gave way to Jimmy and the two security guards trailing two steps behind him. With his current appearance, Jimmy looked as if he had come to challenge the place.
