Chapter 648: Support Team 418 deploys again_3

Riley Butler said with a smile, "Long time no see, Jimmy, just call me Riley. I'm still hoping you can help out this time."

Riley took a file from the conference room table and handed it to Jimmy. Jimmy opened it and glanced at it, a trash can explosion site, followed by several photos of laboratory evidence, a report on explosive materials, and a report on the last capture in New York of the mastermind Nu'er Mohammod's home explosion.

Both reports used C4 as the primary explosive, and traces of ammonium nitrate, extracted from fertilizer, were found in both explosions.

Jimmy looked at Riley, "Riley, has anyone claimed responsibility for this explosion case?"

Riley shook his head, "There are no cameras at the location of the trash can, so we can't see who placed it. We only discovered that the components of the explosion were consistent with those in your case when the lab results came out."

Jimmy looked at Hughes, "This explosion case occurred at the apartment of the mastermind Nu'er, who fled earlier and flew to Paris. Has he returned?"

Hughes, "That's what we want you to come back to investigate."

Jimmy was speechless, "Now, with no leads and just an explosion case without any suspects, it's impossible to find the mastermind Nu'er. Moreover, it's not certain whether it's Nu'er Mohammod who returned since he fled just a few months ago, and it's not that easy to get past customs."

Riley interjected, "Jimmy, I mainly came to hope you could take me to talk to the bomb maker. He made the previous bombs, and he might know something since the same type of bomb has appeared."

Hughes nodded. Jimmy had no choice but to make a trip, but he needed to contact the prison in advance. The visiting procedures at the federal high-security prison are quite formal. Jimmy needed to find the phone number to contact them in advance and confirm a time before heading there.

At New York Metropolitan Correctional Center, Jimmy and Riley removed their weapons under the supervision of the police captain and stored them, then entered the prison. Inside, they met El Kroger, the bomb maker of the New York bombing case, in an interrogation room.

Jimmy, "El, remember us?"

This damn prison really sucks; upon entering, the very unpleasant odor hit us, and even on the way here in the corridor, we saw a rat. In such conditions, El's days weren't going so well. He looked much thinner than when he was first caught, with handcuffs on both hands. Inside the prison, even as a felon, he wasn't wearing leg irons.

El, "What do you agents want with me?"

Jimmy gestured for Riley to speak. Since he wasn't the lead on this explosion case, it was better to let Riley handle it. Riley didn't demur, "El, remember Nu'er who escaped before?"

El, "Has he been caught?"

Riley, "No, but there was an explosion at his apartment before. That explosive was made by you, right?"

El nodded. This was a fact already confirmed during the trial, no point in denying it.

Riley, "Besides you, is there anyone else who can make this kind of bomb?"

El's face broke into a smile, "Let me think, another explosion occurred, right?"

Riley looked at El without expression and neither nodded nor shook his head. El's smile faded, and after thinking for a while, he proposed, "Let's make a deal! I can tell you about someone, but in return, I want to be transferred to a different prison, I want a clean room."

Riley looked at Jimmy, then back at El, "What do you know? Give me a clue."

El shook his head, "I now know why you've come to me. I've put forward my condition—if you agree, I'll give you the clue."

Riley, "We can't decide whether to transfer you to another prison."

El, "Then find someone who can. Guard!" El shouted. The guard at the door opened the door and looked inside. El stood up, walked toward the guard, "I'll wait for your news." After that, the guard led El out of the interrogation room.

Jimmy, "Riley, what do you think? This El is not so easy to deal with."

Riley nodded, "Let's go back."

Jimmy and Riley retrieved their weapons and returned to the FBI office. It was no longer Jimmy's concern—Riley went directly to Hughes, and what they discussed was not clear. The explosion happened in Newark, not New York, so it wasn't related to Jimmy; he just needed to finish his own duties.
