Jimmy was wheeled into the hospital on a stretcher, because his injuries were from a fight, he was rushed straight in for an X-ray.
Poor guy, he had a fracture, not only his ulna bones in both arms but also minor damage to his right collarbone, and a punch to his right face had not only caused it to swell but also loosened one of his molars; in simple terms, wherever the Boxer hit, there was some problem.
Jimmy now had to take painkillers, the agonizing pain left him no choice but to be hospitalized.
News of Jimmy's hospitalization hadn't spread, his cell phone was still by his side, and with the help of a nurse, he put on a Bluetooth headset and dialed Hughes' number.
Jimmy, "Hughes, the matter with Watson has been settled, I need to take some time off, I'm in the hospital now."
Hughes, "What happened?"
Jimmy, "The target was a combat expert, the close-quarters fight was brutal, I got beat up pretty bad."
Hughes, "Which hospital?"
Jimmy reported the hospital, then hung up the phone to wait for Hughes to come over.
Soon, the first visitor arrived in the ward; it wasn't Hughes, but Watson and his assistant Kerry.
Jimmy, gritting his teeth and glaring at Watson, "Supervisor Watson, I need an explanation."
Watson looked emotionlessly at Jimmy, "What?"
Jimmy, "That Boxer, he's definitely more than just an Agent, who exactly is he? I've had nearly 80 to 100 downed opponents at my hand, and this is the first time I've been beaten so badly."
Watson, "That's not for you to know."
Jimmy's arms were in casts, and his shoulder had a stabilizing brace, he leaned against the headboard and looked at Watson, silent.
It was Kerry who spoke up from behind Watson, "Jimmy, you've had it tough this time, please understand our need for secrecy."
Jimmy scoffed, "If that guy was an ordinary Agent, I'd let you kick my head around like a ball. You guys weren't fair at all, you didn't warn me in the slightest."
Seeing that Jimmy's anger had subsided a bit, Watson then said, "You had it rough this time. Impressive skills, Jimmy, there aren't many who can stand against him for that long."
Jimmy, through gritted teeth, "I don't want his information, I just want to know, how many more like him do you have on your side?"
Watson, "A few, in close-quarters fight, he's top-tier."
Jimmy exhaled long and hard; this made him feel a bit better psychologically. He was definitely no match for the Boxer, but even if he could see all his moves and predict his follow-up actions, he still couldn't withstand those rapid, heavy punches. It was truly demoralizing.
Watson, "I've brought you a gift."
Kerry took out a laptop from the briefcase he was holding, opened it up, and started a video, turning the screen toward Jimmy.
It was surveillance footage from a pet clinic, taken from an angle in the back alley showing the back door, clearly showing the first part of their fight, the doctor ambushing Jimmy with trash, Jimmy turning to catch his fist, and then the two exchanging blows, gradually retreating inside the clinic.
The second video was taken from inside the clinic's surveillance, showing the back door; this footage captured the latter half of their fight up until the Boxer was shot and it ended.
Kerry held the laptop steady with one hand. Though the two videos were short, it was evident that Kerry was no ordinary office worker; the steadiness of his arm alone indicated he was skilled.
Watson, "I thought you might want to keep a memento."
Jimmy nodded, "Thanks, I'm very grateful. I really needed this surveillance footage; it was the worst beating I've ever taken."
Watson, "Well, this is for you to keep. We'll handle the rest. Thank you. Goodbye, Jimmy."
Jimmy, "Goodbye, Supervisor Watson."
After Watson and Kerry left the ward, Jimmy's hands were both fixed in place, and he couldn't bring the laptop over from the bedside to open it himself; he would have to wait until he was able to move later to watch it.
Reflecting on it now, had he not suddenly felt that the doctor was too calm, showing no sign of nervousness, and turned around realizing something was off, if he had been caught with a surprise punch from behind, he would have definitely been taken out on the spot. Considering the force of the Boxer's punches, a hit to the back of the head would have at least resulted in a knockout and a concussion, if not immediate death.
It had been too close a call this time; he could no longer afford to let anyone stand behind him casually. He had to keep his distance in close combat, just a bit of distance would be enough, he believed his speed in drawing a gun would surely surpass someone rushing at him.
Watson's words also comforted Jimmy a great deal. There couldn't be many hand-to-hand combat maniacs like the Boxer, and if he was considered top-tier, then there shouldn't be many who could bring Jimmy down in close combat again.
Having been beaten down even with an edge, maybe now was the best opportunity to find some time to train properly.
After waiting a while, Hughes knocked and entered the ward. Hughes looked at Jimmy, propped up in bed with his upper body immobilized, and shook his head with a frown.
