North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 608: 402 was hit again_2

Jimmy began to inspect the ground. This area was quite large, and searching the ground for blood traces was a troublesome task.

"Jimmy, our people have arrived." Jimmy looked up toward the street corner as a car approached. He hadn't hung up the phone when he was speaking with the security manager earlier, so the command center had also heard their conversation.

"Here you go." The car stopped at the entrance, and as the doors opened, three people got out, one of whom handed Jimmy a walkie-talkie with an earpiece.

"Search the ground for blood traces. The person who ran is likely to have come out through this door." Jimmy took the walkie-talkie and immediately issued orders to the three of them. At this moment, it was unnecessary to ask names; there was no point, getting on with the task was most important.

He began attaching the walkie-talkie to his belt while placing the earpiece in his right ear, and his own Bluetooth headset was switched to his left ear. Hearing different things in each ear posed no problem for him; the increase in spiritual power had enhanced his abilities and his brain's capability to process information sufficiently to multitask.

"Found them, two drops of blood here." An agent discovered blood on the ground, and Jimmy hurried over, "Start from here and continue searching."

"Noah, check the surrounding surveillance, rewind 10 minutes, no, 15 minutes, and log all vehicles that left this alley." Jimmy bent down to search while arranging with the command center.

"Received."

"Agent Yang, only one blood trace found." They had searched the area around and found no second trace of blood.

Jimmy looked around and said, "Split up, you two go into that building across and ask if anything unusual happened, make sure he didn't run into that building. You, check from here to the corner again."

Jimmy: "Command center, have you found out the vehicle information yet?"

Staff: "We've identified three cars that left the alley earlier, license plates have been logged."

Jimmy: "Pinpoint the locations of the three cars."

Staff: "Received."

While Jimmy waited for the three to recheck and inquire, the security manager, accompanied by NYPD officers, ran over from a side door, "Agent, we've checked the other two doors and surveillance, found nothing."

NYPD Patrol Officer: "Agent, have your investigations yielded any results?"

Jimmy: "No, how is the gunshot victim doing?"

NYPD: "He was taken to the hospital, he wasn't dead at the time, now it's unclear."

Jimmy: "Okay, follow up on him, and notify me once he is out of danger." Jimmy pulled out an FBI business card from his pocket and handed it to the patrol officer.

NYPD took the card: "No problem."

In the command center, Watson was watching the staff coordinate surveillance to track the three cars. It was crucial to confirm their locations before alerting Jimmy and his team to move in for the capture. However, it was not easy to locate these three vehicles; on one hand, they were using real-time surveillance, and on the other hand, they were judging by the time the vehicles appeared in the monitors to see if they could spot them in subsequent footage.

Staff: "One vehicle confirmed, currently headed south, just passed 35th Street on 6th Avenue."

Watson: "Notify our people to follow it."

The staff sent a message with the license number and location through the system, "Sent."

Jimmy had not heard the conversation in the command center, and Watson clearly had some thoughts; he didn't want to rely entirely on Jimmy to handle the situation.

Although Jimmy was unaware of the command center's arrangements, the three people in front of him had returned, empty-handed. It was certain, unless the suspect, a boxer, had somehow tunneled underground, that he must have taken a vehicle from this location.

Jimmy's Bluetooth headset transmitted a staff member's voice: "Agent Yang, a car has been identified, location and license number have been sent."

Just then, one person received a message on their phone, "A car has been found, let's go." Two of them left in a car, while the third person stayed by Jimmy's side.

Jimmy watched the departing car, his expression somewhat grim. Although he had received the notification, it was evident that they trusted their own people more; they first informed the CIA agent as soon as they found the vehicle, while he had to wait for further vehicle information.

Jimmy said to the last agent, "Come, get in my car."

Jimmy's car wasn't parked in a parking lot but was directly parked at the curb next to Times Square. He was here to find someone, and there was always a possibility of needing to pursue by car. Parking in a lot was too troublesome and time-consuming. Parking on the road, other than possibly getting a ticket, had no drawback.

When Jimmy and the agent reached the car, an NYPD patrol officer was at the front, preparing to write a ticket.

"Hi, officer. FBI Special Agent Jimmy Yang, I was just handling a case; I'll leave now."

Jimmy flashed his badge and casually opened the car door. The patrol officer glanced at Jimmy's badge, nodded, and didn't continue with the ticket, instead heading back to his own patrol car.

Well, that saved a few bucks. Jimmy felt slightly better, and the two got into the car. Jimmy started the car and began driving slowly, aimlessly moving with the traffic flow.

"Chinatown, target spotted." Command center's notification arrived, and Jimmy checked the route, making a U-turn at the next intersection to drive downtown Manhattan.

Fortunately, from Midtown to downtown wasn't far, though the traffic was a bit heavy. Jimmy's car didn't have a siren or lights, so it was a bit slow, and this slight delay determined the outcome.

"Jimmy, it's Watson. How much longer will you need?"

"10 minutes."

"Our people failed. He just entered a pet clinic, likely to treat the gunshot wound. You need to speed up."
