"Agent Yang, spotted him, he just moved west past West 44th Street, out of surveillance, not seen on 8th Avenue, must be somewhere in between."
The voice of an Anti-Terrorism Bureau staffer came through the Bluetooth headset, Jimmy immediately turned and ran towards West 44th Street. The crowd was too large, and it was difficult for Jimmy to run here. After finally reaching the intersection of West 44th Street and 7th Avenue, he hadn't even turned the corner when he heard the muffled "bang bang" sound. Damn, gunshots.
Jimmy immediately turned the corner, searching along West 44th Street toward 8th Avenue, "I heard gunshots, on West 44th Street, but not sure of the location."
As he searched, Jimmy spoke to the staffers, "Keeping communication with the scene is an essential skill for an officer. It allows those at the back and others to know one's situation, and in case of an emergency, help can arrive quickly."
"There's a parking lot nearby, I'm going in to search."
Jimmy ran forward for a bit and discovered the entrance to a large parking lot. Given the muffled gunshots just now, the distance shouldn't be far, and there must be something blocking the sound. If it were out on the street, West 44th should be in chaos by now. This parking lot looked very suspicious. Judging by the lack of panic among the people around, they either didn't hear or notice the sound was gunshots, or they were incredibly calm, which clearly wasn't likely.
After reporting on the phone, Jimmy turned and entered the parking lot, flashing his badge at the entrance security, "I thought I heard gunshots outside, anything unusual here?"
The security opened the window of the security room: "Gunshots? I didn't hear anything, maybe the insulation here is pretty good."
Jimmy nodded, "I'm going to take a look inside the parking lot."
After greeting, Jimmy drew his Glock with his right hand and went straight down the ramp.
"Bang", it was clearer this time, definitely inside the parking lot, but now the sound seemed far away. Jimmy instantly started running, scanning his surroundings within his "Heart Eye" range. Finally, he spotted something amiss—a person lying on the ground, face down and motionless.
Continuing to move towards the person, soon another man appeared in his sight, running towards the other side. After ensuring it was safe, Jimmy sped up towards the fallen man—a male dressed in sneakers and a hoodie, bleeding profusely.
"There's a gunshot victim on the ground, can't see anyone else. I'll check it out."
Jimmy walked over, reached out and turned the head, not the Boxer. Slightly shifting the body, the chest was shot; judging by the wound, the lung might be injured.
"Someone's been shot, one in the chest, one in the abdomen, the person is unconscious but alive. Call the authorities immediately."
Jimmy's phone was still on call; he didn't have time to alert the police. Best to let the Anti-Terrorism Bureau handle it, as he needed to urgently chase the man who had run off.
Jimmy's task was to find the Boxer, but with a shooting incident, he couldn't abandon this victim. Unfortunately, he didn't have a medical kit on him and could only hope the police and ambulance would arrive quickly after alerting them.
Gun in hand, Jimmy ran after the person who had fled. He'd already spotted the exit point—the elevator shaft wasn't far. He ran there, noticing sporadic bloodstains along the way and a drop of blood outside the elevator. Jimmy observed the scene and the elevator without pressing the button, as he couldn't identify the person who had been on top earlier.
Jimmy: "The attacker seems to be shot, there's blood on the ground. Judging by the traces, he probably left by elevator. I need to conduct an on-site investigation."
