North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 590: 396 Investigation on Mahong

Jimmy eventually decided not to call Hughes, mainly because he didn't know what to say. After all, Mahong was the head of the Homicide Team. Although he had just arrived, it was now his time to establish authority, and having a higher-up apply pressure at this time would definitely lead to trouble, internal trouble.

Jimmy investigated all the addresses and, after marking them on the map, he started his investigation from downtown Manhattan, moving northward.

Over a dozen boats were involved, only a few clubs, but Jimmy's biggest problem was actually getting them to provide information, as the clubs considered protecting their guests' privacy their top priority.

Mahong didn't need Jimmy to show him the way in; he had been an agent for a long time and naturally knew how to communicate with people in these places. In fact, at this point, Jimmy was more like a driver.

Mahong did not make a grand entrance but instead communicated with a security guard, who then went inside to notify the manager to come out for a meeting. After a simple identity verification, Mahong requested to contact the club management. Facing the three impeccably dressed FBI agents, the security manager felt somewhat muggled and had to go into the club to make contact.

It was better for the three of them not to go inside if they could avoid it; they didn't want to disturb the other guests and invite trouble. Although it was uncertain if there were any guests inside at the moment, the security manager definitely had to be cautious.

Soon, a tall middle-aged woman in a white business suit came out, shaking hands with Mahong, who was in front: "Michelle Levi, the manager here."

Mahong shook her hand and then took out his credentials to show her: "FBI Special Agent Alexander Mahong, these are Philicia and Jimmy. Ms. Levi..."

Michelle: "Just call me Michelle."

Mahong: "Okay, Michelle, could you give us a tour of your club?"

Michelle paused; she had expected them to get straight to the point about what they needed, then she nodded, "Of course, please come in."

Michelle led the way with Mahong in front, with Jimmy and Philicia following, as the four entered the club. It was Jimmy's first time in such a place, and it was the perfect opportunity to take a look while someone explained things in front, handling both public and private matters. Though he wasn't wealthy, he felt he could afford to rent a yacht and might consider taking Nia out for a trip sometime.

Mahong: "Could we take a look at your yacht docks?"

Michelle nodded and led them out of the club building and into the dock area behind it.

Jimmy watched Mahong communicate with Michelle, and he had to admit his effectiveness. Although Mahong still looked very stern, he clearly matched the sensibilities of mature women like Michelle. Honestly, if Philicia and Jimmy weren't there, she might have hoped for something more to happen.

When Mahong asked, Michelle did not refuse. There were not many boats at the dock. Mahong listened to Michelle's introductions while Philicia and Jimmy began verifying the information about the three small yachts belonging to the club, which looked more like fishing boats, with a cockpit and a small cabin in the front and a deck at the back.

There were two boats at the dock with matching hull numbers. Mahong turned his head and Philicia nodded; he then asked the crucial question: "Michelle, do these boats have GPS? And any surveillance footage?"

Michelle turned to Mahong, now understanding the purpose of their visit. After thinking it over, she nodded: "For safety, each boat has a black box that records their coordinates and travel time. As for surveillance, sorry, due to client privacy concerns, there are no cameras on any of the yachts."

Mahong: "Michelle, we are here to verify the journey records of three yachts, your cooperation would be much appreciated."

Michelle's lips were pursed as she thought, "May I ask why?"

Mahong: "There were two cases involving several yachts on the Hudson River at the time, and we have already obtained the hull numbers from the Port Authority."

Michelle shook her head: "This involves our clients' private information. I need to consult someone. Please wait a moment."

Michelle turned and left, as Mahong and Jimmy stood waiting. It was clear that Michelle was very professional, and even if she had a certain liking for Mahong, she had not forgotten her responsibilities.

Standing on the dock and looking at the Hudson River before him, Jimmy's thoughts grew stronger. If he wasn't here on a case, he would've already inquired about the prices to rent a boat. He had previously played around shooting fish on the Mississippi River with Cage and had never really enjoyed fishing or even sea fishing.

After a long wait, Michelle returned, followed by two individuals that looked like technicians, each carrying a box.

Michelle: "Please provide the hull numbers; my colleagues will retrieve the relevant information." At this moment, her expression and voice had returned to normal, losing some of the previous warmth and looking much more business-like.

Philicia pulled out the documents and pointed at the two docked boats, indicating which ones to check, while the two men went aboard each.

Philicia: "There is one more, currently not at the dock, the one with tail number 15."

Michelle: "That one isn't here at the moment, it's a long-term rental yacht that left the club a week ago, expected to return next week."
